Love/Hate: Creed Chevrefeuille Original

I received a sample of this when I purchased Original Vetiver. I decided today to wear it and I am unsure on how I feel. When applied, I was put off but I gave it time to settle. Now, about 2 hours later I am getting rich sandlewood. I can't seem to find a note breakdown on basenotes but upon refering to Creedperfumes.com I find honeysuckle, herbaceous notes, and ambergris. Maybe my nose is unfamiliar with honeysuckle? I also don't pick up ambergris.

I get the "green" feel. But I think green can be achieve with sandlewood.

What are your thoughts?

As I smell the Q-tip that I used to apply the fragrance with, I get a lemon green. I guess honeysuckle could smell like this. Whenever I think of honeysuckle, I think sweet like a sugary sap.

I don't love it, I don't hate it - which is my feelings about most Creed fragrances. It's not something I would purchase.

Agreed. I don't love it but I definently don't hate it. Interesting, yes. Worthy of the $$, no. It has a distinct masculine edge that I don't normally like in fragrances. Iam very much a fan of gender neutrality and florals in masculine scents.

I bought it because it's interesting, quirky, different, kind of old-school, and likely to have increased collectibility appeal in upcoming years. Widely rumored as soon-to-be discontinued. I get greenish licorice from it. I don't wear it very often, but now and then it's just perfect. I wore it on a beautiful summer morning once, and was just blown away by its simplicity and beauty. I suspect those who try it and hate it might be smelling juice gone bad. It has a freshness to it that strikes me as likely to be delicate and short-lived. You definitely don't want to expose bottles of this to substantial heat and light.

It grows on you with repeated wearings. Give it several wearings before you say no, and make sure you're carefully matching it to the right situation and styles. Fresh, delicate floral - not for smoky nightclubs, or sports events, you know.

I love most Creeds but admit to being fairly apathetic towards this one. I found it to be OK but certainly not worthy of a purchase.

It didn't make any sense to me when I sampled it. Certainly wasn't memorable. I recall that it didn't make me think of honeysuckle.

Exactly!! I can't say that I know EXACTLY what honeysuckle smells like....but I know for certain I get none of that here. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't buy a bottle.

After smelling my arm, right now in fact, I STILL find it. Therefore, longevity gets a 5/5.

It's definitely honeysuckle leaf, but not all that much flower. Sweet, clear, green. The mint and citrus are so artfully rendered that I have to admit, I kind of expect to see mint leaves stuck to my shirt when I spray on Chevrefeuille. Why is this so underrated? I think I like it better than Original Vetiver, albeit by a hair. It's ridiculously well made.
