If these were your options for a first date, which would you go with?

I love both these, I think they both smell great, but MI is nice and subtle which can be good for this kind of setting, but Aventus has got me some great compliments from girls.

Your thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks

I appreciate not everyone likes these scents or would choose them, but these are the only 2 im considering so please be helpful!

Aventus, only because there's a better version of MI called Unforgivable.

please go with Aventus.

Aventus - but make sure it is a quick date. By the time you get to the drydown, she will be bored to death of your fragrance.

Have both. Love both. Go with Aventus.

MI has never received any negative feedback from those around me. However, my girlfriend and some other friends (in their 20's) have shown dislike towards Aventus when it is at its most ashy/plastic quality. Could be the two different batches I have decants of, but it wasn't a hit at all. I prefer MI over Aventus in general, and have sampled both fairly often in the past year.

Wear what you feel confident in.

I'd say the safer bet would be MI. I love Aventus but I can see where some people wouldnt understand/like it so much. When I first smelled it I didnt like it much but a week later it grew on me. No one is going to say they dont like MI. Id do that.

I own and love both. Both are frags I've been frequently complimented on. Depends on what you're looking for. Her complimenting you? Her remembering your scent and leaving a lasting impression? If the former, I'd say wear Aventus. Nothing overwhelming, though (1-2 sprays). As you've stated, its the heavier/stronger of the two. If the latter, maybe MI? To be honest, neither of the two have particularly "super unique" smells to them. They just smell really good for what they are. I do think MI will leave more of an impression and have her later thinking, "what in the HELL was that divine fragrance he was wearing?!" Probably more 'memorable' than Aventus, which will probably get you the normal, "wow, you smell really nice."

MI. 2 sprays. One on the chest, one on the neck. She'll smell you just fine. Don't become the "cologne guy" from jump...

Exactly.
My girl says it smells like "Cigars" everytime I wear it, and not in a good way.
Go MI, it's universally liked in my experience.

MI.

Cracks in the Aventus armour are beginning to appear as people realise they have been sold a Trojan Pineapple.

I've tried MI a dozen times really wanting to like it but I still hate it. Aventus, however, is still #1 in my collection.
Would honestly go with MI

There both very good colognes in my opinion. You can't go wrong with either one. I am leaning more towards Aventus because though I do like MI, I LOVE the pineapple note and the smokey/Ashy vibe people seem to hate.

I loathe Aventus! I tried it again yesterday and had to wash it off. Can't believe Creed charge so much for this. But then again, I'm quickly learning I dislike all 'fruity' frags packaged for men (or perhaps I should say, I haven't come across any that have won me over...)

This. I enjoy Unforgivable and it's flankers more than MI.

I'd prefer the woman who likes Aventus.
I like MI but I love Aventus.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these choices.

I love Aventus, I got the good batch. What I noticed so far though, is that aventus smells much better when it is warm. I found this out by accident because I poured some aventus in a small portable atomizer which I put in my back pocket in case I want to reapply. The scent is much more fruity. Anybody has that experience?

Just yesterday, got a compliment from a lady sitting about 2-3 feet away from me in a crowded bar. She was asking couple people around her to see who is wearing that wonderful scent :-D. I know it's me, but I could not smell anything on me. Apparently the scent travels well...very happy.

I like Aventus but love MI.

I love neither, but prefer Aventus. Today is my first wear of MI and think its nothing special. I at least get a good vanilla dry down from Aventus in warmer weather. Not tried it on the colder days.

Took it right out of my mouth, I like the scent but the drydown smells pretty synthetic. The top notes are nice, I still think MI is the better of the two.

MI- No doubt.

I use Aventus to scent my car at the moment, I am not sure what this says about it but my car smells nice. Beats Magic Trees.
MI has grown on me to the point it is my "go to" frag.

MI

I thought Aventus was really nice (but not awesome) but it literally only lasts 15 mins on me. I would not pay %25 of what it goes for retail for this.

MI, doesn't last all day but much better than Aventus plus IMO has a much nicer all around scent.

Aventus. Loved it since the first time I smelled it.

MI, meh.

Imperial is an aquatic legend - Aventus is a fresh newbie which has quite some ways to go yet. If we are going by stature and impact, Imperial towers over Aventus. As Chandler Burr mentions in this article http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2...-by-sean-john/ , Unforgivable by Sean John (based on Imperial's template) is highly regarded by some top perfumers - by extension I am certain that these same perfumers have smelled Imperial and it being a superior composition give it a thumbs up as well. The industry impact of Imperial is undeniable and it was the first Creed I had ever tried. I bought a bottle last December and it still smells great - the juice is brighter but thats because the citrus notes are fresher in newer batches. Lay the bottle off for a while and the saltiness will re-appear.

Currently though I prefer Aventus - its smoky-birch-fruits accord is incredibly alluring. I am not a compliments guy but the number of people who have asked me what I am wearing is off the charts. Also I have worn enough Imperial for the time being..I will revisit the old friend in due time.
Personally I like MI more...both are nice scents though. I am a little biased though, because I feel like the top notes of MI is one of the greatest things I've ever smelled.
Something strange is happening with these two perfumes. There are days that I love them and days I don't like.
Does it happens to others?
Have tried both and wouldnt want to own either
