SOTD Friday 14 January 2011: Synchronised YSL Day

Thread Starter
Morning all, TGIF!!

My favourite YSL and definitely one of my top 10 perfumes of all time; Nu EDP by Yves Saint Laurent!

Happy Synching Folks!
I have several YSL scents and decided to wear Cinema in the end,
as I will be working with young children today and Y or RG might be a
touch too much for them!
Got no YSL with me here in NZ but still able to synch thanks to my brother-in-law. SotD is Body Kouros.

Off to the Marlborough wine region tomorrow. Got a couple of vineyard tours booked. I suppose my arm could be reluctantly twisted - I might just try one or two .

Hope kbe and shoegal68 are feeling better.

Back in a few days...........
I forgot. Also, there is no YSL in my wardrobe, so I am wearing Habanita today - can't believe I haven't worn this in almost two months, it is so lovely.
Parisienne from a dying sample... The only YSL I could find...
In synch with Belle d’Opium - or at least I was half an hour ago when I applied it ... where did it go? Maybe I left it on the cat when I gave her a morning stroke. Will atone by wearing Y later.

Enjoy the wine Jon!
Wearing my favourite YSL Yvresse - I'm sure if I look up 'delightful' in the dictionary there will be a pictures of this perfume. It's even kicked my previous favourite Opium from the top of my YSL list.
Apres L'Ondee.

Im way too much excited with my new samples of Annick goutal!
So this made me forget all the rest.

Good morning! My SOTD is Guerlain L'Instant pour Homme Eau Extreme EDP.

Notes include Crystaline Citrus Fruits, Badiane Crystals, Elémi, Néroli, Patchouli Flower, Cedar, Sandalwood Mysore, Lapsang Tea, Bitter Cocoa, Patchouli and Hibiscus Seeds.

Bah... Parisienne was just not me... Scrubbed and trying to enjoy SL Rousse... I get a plasticky smell and not a lot of cinnamon... Maybe my sample turned? Bah... Just not my day today...
I have lost all track of what day of the week it is so completely not in sync! I'm in the unseasonally fizzy Sugar by Fresh.
I'm joining TheLipPrint in Champagne!

Good Morning All,

Scent twins with Kewart today in Cinema, easing back into scent

Jon, have fun today

Knit..........once again I'm sorry
I'll be in synch today with Cinema.

Knit, I hope you can be comforted somehow by remembering that you did everything you could for Mr Lucky, and that he certainly knew how well he was loved. Losing a beloved pet is so hard, especially one who's been in your life for many seasons. (((Knit)))
Not in synch, already had FdTRB on before logging on today.
Dear Knit, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear Mr. Lucky. It's just wrenching to lose them, it really is. They are perfect except the one flaw in their design is that they don't live to be 100. xoxo

In sync and scent twins with Candy Perfume Boy in YSL Nu eau de parfum - CPB, we smell GOOD!

Have a lovely Friday, all.
Knit_at_nite-many condolences .I'm sorry about Mr.Lucky.
Kbe and Shoegal - are you feeling better? Many hugs .

Wearing Mitsouko EDP (new version)

Good Morning!

Joining Candy Perfume Boy and Tdem1961 in YSL's Nu.
Take care everyone!

YSL Nu edp, one of my all-time favorites.

Knit_at_nite, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Enjoy your wine tour, Jon Rodgers. Sounds like fun.

Baldufita, Parisienne has a vinyl accord – maybe that’s the plasticky note you were getting?

Sending Knit_at_Night another ((hug)).

I'm out of synch because I forgot. I'm wearing a spritz of Shalimar eau de cologne this morning. I may wear vintage Y later. I've been thinking about it lately. It's a little too early for it now.

TGIF, all.
Good morning everyone First of all a big comfort hug to Knit at nite! Losing a pet is always sad.I seem to have huge difficulties getting up lately. Can't wait until the sun comes back.At least it will get easier to wake up in the morning then!I was completly caught up in my own issues regarding what to do with this guy I like...that seems interested, but he was just dumped by his gf...So feel a bit undecided what to do. I know what i should do, though...But...Anyway,so my sotd is Dzing! and not a YSL.Hope you all have a good day.

R de Capucci today. Stunningly superb!
Shalimar
Vintage Eau de Toilette

Oh, you naughty girl!

Out of sync with you, deliciously scented folks, but not to be blamed -- on this day, many years ago in 1883 there was a girl born to a hard-working Nielli family and they named her Maria. The world knows her as "Nina" Ricci, so I am in a decadent spicy and green rose of NR Capricci (1961).

To Le Grand Duke -- I do not really know what you have planned for next Friday Jan.21st Synchronizing, but it is a shared birthday of two designers whose fragrances you like, I thought. Wanna know?
Paris. No, not this one:

Go away, you slut!

This Paris:

sotD was 28 La Pausa

sotE is Miel de Bois...mmmmm huuuuneeeee

Good day y'all
It's always fun to be amongst you pretty people. How miraculously consistent is the pleasure of your company.

Went for a dot of J-L Scherrer last night at bedtime, and I'm staying in the chypre vein today with vintage YSL Y parfum, which has a note of peach in it. Noting that fact, I applied some of Nukapias Heavenly Peach Banquet on my hand. Perhaps I'll segue into Mitsouko later for a fully peachy day.

I actually don't own anything from YSL, how did that happen? Wearing Clinique Happy.
Out of synch, and in Cuir de Russie (Chanel).

(((((((((((knit_at_nite))))))))))) So sorry to hear about Mr. Lucky.
Hello everyone!

I'm not in sync, for I had just had to be in Angel today. I'm in the edp and the Celestial Body Cream - the older one, as pictured. I've not smelled the new one, but when I heard it had been changed a few years ago (along with the packaging) I stocked up. I adore this body cream - I like it even more than the edp, but the combination of course, is utterly sublime!! I've got to stop neglecting fragrances I love due to outside influences and associations - in this case, the consistent and obnoxious over-application by someone I'm not very fond of, sorry to say. I've decided not to let her ruin it for me, so I thought of shadesofbleu instead! (Hi shades!)

Y'all have a wonderful day!

You got one of them -- CD (Christian Dior, 1905) and another one would be CB (Cristobal Balenciaga, 1895).

If you wish so, Duc, please buy a calendar -- hope there are some left in the stores yet, it is not even 1/2 of January -- and I will forward to you the list of Fragrant Birthdays as they are marked on my calendar. Anybody is welcome to it too, BTW.

Or, as a public service chimein, I can do each month on the 1st if it works better.
My SotD is Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel, a beautiful herbal aromatic fragrance that works perfectly for me on this foggy winter day. It was inspired by the salt marshes of Brittany. Notes include red thyme oil, rosemary, clary sage, iris nobilis, narcissus, rose, ambrette seed, woods, vetiver, moss, and leather.

In synch today and scent twins with Lessa, sampling Paris. I either wanted this in the 80's and my mom wouldn't buy it for me because it gave her a headache or owned it and she threw it out due to the headache issue. No headache for me and it smells great!
Riverside Drive by Bond No.9

I'll wear M7 tonight!!!
Gary
In sync with the lovely Y, just perfect on this calm and sunny CA day. No offense to you snowbound folks but I was getting truly sick of the rain and the colder temps here. Yes, I am a weather wimp. Can't stand extremes of temperature or humidity.

Cat talk warning: I am really touched and comforted by all your e-hugs and messages of support concerning Mr. Lucky's death. I truly appreciate the warm thoughts. Here's to all our pets and the enrichment they bring to our lives! Oh. almost forgot... Chairman Meow says ...well, you know,...... Meow.

REL from a sample provided by 30 Roses!
Borsalino ~ Panama
Scentologist, what is "REL"? Something from Estee Lauder? Etat Libre? Please de-code, if you would. (On the other hand, my fav is MdM -- can bear at least three meanings that are all used and nobody asks what they stand for.)
I'll join the out of sync crowd, It's late in the day anyway. Is it Friday already? where did the week go? what a hectic week! Oh well sote is Bvlgari's 'Rose Essential' a rose with dirty little spice undertones, not sure about this one, from a sample. Happy Friday everyone!! Gotta Run!
Completing my peach on peach on peach with Mitsouko.
I think I may have the weekend off. Yip!
I'm testing Malle's Portrait of a Lady tonight. It's really very beautiful - I love this kind of dark rose - but it's not anything I haven't smelled before. Future wearings could of course change my opinion and I'll have to eat my words, but as of now I would only consider purchasing a bottle of this if I ever ran out of L'Arte di Gucci, which I prefer. I get none of the alleged oriental aspect of PoaL, and I don't get the comparison's to Parfum Sacré at all, which isn't very rosy to my nose anyway. To me, Portrait of a Lady is a dark, dry rosy patch with some subtle spices. L'Arte di Gucci, Diva, Paestum Rose, Dark Rose, Midnight Oud, Rose Oud, Montale's rose aouds ...and maybe Caron's Or et Noir and Lorenzo Villoresi's Donna - these are the fragrances I find myself comparing it to. It's very nice, but not very new.

eta - I just refreshed a bit and I found something so reminiscent of SSS's Vintage Rose in the topnotes that I'm thinking of digging out my sample of that (not as easy as it sounds) to do a side-by-side comparison. I love Vintage Rose and ironically, PoaL could turn out to be just the thing I need to convince me I should own a bottle.
A slightly multiple-personalitied scent day for me, before a (YES!!!) three day weekend... SoTM was Theorema... late afternoon a spritz of Habit Rouge EDC, and this evening I'm wearing Aramis Classic Reserve. (I think I'm falling victim to the cold-weather and forced-air-heat sinusitis so my sniffer was having "issues"... the Theorema smelled like dentist's office (latex gloves and the tech's perfume)... the Habit Rouge EDC smelled particularly vinegary, and the ACR even seems a little "eggy" (good grief.)
Knit, say "Meow" to the Chairman from me!
Adding my hugs and good wishes to knit...

SOTD: Caron Infini

Dang! I forgot about Scent Sync! I love YSL - I could have worn Y or something from the cute set of minis. Paris would have been perfect today! Nu is very nice, but it would be a bit suffocating in this afternoon's humidity.
I forgot about Synchronised Friday....I wore my customary Friday frag, Flowerbomb. I usually have Flowerbomb Fridays!
Cèdre by Serge Lutens
I'm in synch with Opium today. One of my favorite things about wearing fragrance is the little lift it gives me at the end of the day. I wear regular clothes into work, change into scrubs, and leave my clothes in my locker. Today, after working over 12 hours and dead-ass tired, I head to the locker room to change back into my clothes to go home. I pull my sweater over my head and get a wonderful whiff of Opium! It always makes me happy to smell my fragrance long after I thought it was gone. That little boost is priceless!

Evangeline, what a sweet thing to say!! Thank you!

Twolf, I for one, would love for you to monthly update us with fragrant birthdays. If you make a post, I can sticky it to the top.
