L'Artisan Parfumeur

I'd like to try more from this line, as Fou d'Absinthe is now one of my favorite fragrances. What should I try?

Note: I don't like overly sweet fragrances. I love citrus chypres/bright citrus fragrances.

Which fragrance from them is the most masculine?
Mechant Loup is I think their only "masculine only" designated frag. Kind of dark as I recall. Tested briefly once.

Their scents to me are all pretty down the middle.

edit: as DustB and mrcologneguy say, Timbuktu seems like a must try. A Turin "top 10" for men, and has very good rep here.

Check out Voleur de Roses, Tea for Two, and Timbuktu. Great stuff Grottola.

Yep.

Instant poetry there, too.

Another Masculine : Leau du Navigateur ( Coffe - Spices and Leather )

also interesting : Dzongkha & Passage D Enfer

Citrus and Bright L Eau de LArtisan !

My favorite from them is still Dzing! if for nothing else than the pure out of left field factor.

Tea for Two

Dzongkha

None of my favorites is particularly citrusy/fresh (+1 Timbuktu and Dzing, also Safran Troublant and Patchouli patch), though they are all very masculine.

I think they also have a superexpensive fleur d'oranger, but I've never smelled it.

I smelled a couple from them but something about Dzongkha reaches my soul and my decant wont last long. Good sillage an great longevity. In a way is similar to Timbuktu, but amped up to the max without loosing it's freshness.

About Fleur d Oranger is nice ,

+1.

I'm with Mr Verbosity L'Eau de L'Artisan is one of the most natural green / citrus frags out there.

Unfortunately, my favourites are discontinued:

Santal - a creamy, long-lasting sandalwood.
L'Eau du Caporal - minty fougere. One of the best fougeres i have ever come across and my HG mint frag.

Timbuktu
Dzongkha
Voleur de Roses
Patchouli Patch
Passage d'Enfer
Fou d'Absinthe
Dzing!

Timbuktu is the best L'Artisan fragrance
I find Dzongkha to be the most masculine... but a lot of women seem to wear it.

Tea For Two, Dzing!, and Al Oudh I would also strongly recommend. I also really like L'Eau de Jatamansi in the summer, but some find it too light.

Tea for Two and Timbuktu are really good.

I think I can tolerate tea scents.... Gucci Pour Homme II used to be my favorite fragrance.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

For Grottola, who devours scents and scent experiences, yes. Also, I don't find either of the three overly sweet scents--VdR certainly not, Tea for Two maybe because of the honey hidden in the smoke and dense tea leaf smell, and Timbuktu no, not overly sweet.

My principal recommendations to Grottola from this house would be Dzongkha and Dzing!. I happen to enjoy Méchant Loup and Tea for Two as well, but both are quite sweet.

Totally forgot, but L'Eau du Navagateur is pretty nice, and it seems to be the forgotten Jean-Claude Ellena fragrance (it is from 1982). Slightly boozy coffee, incense, cedar, leather, and galbanum notes. I think it's Lucky Scent that describes it as a fragrance for pirates. . .

I tried about 10 or 12 samples from them and didn't care for a lot. Many were overly musky, or smelled like poo.. (Dzing) The opening of Mechant Loup has a toned down musky Dzing vibe, only it transform into a honey/incense/woods and tobacco if I recall, it turns out to dry down differently. The reason I can't specifically remember, is because a lot of L'artisan frags are very similar. They seem to use the honey and incense notes along with a lot of spices.

The only ones that were really epic to me were Tea for Two.. a must try for any tobacco lover; and Timbuktu was pretty nice. The opening of Timbuktu gave me dry dark fruits, but the middle is where it really shined with the spicy incense. There were a couple other good ones from that house, but several that didn't sit well with me. I really wanna try the fig one that's marketed for women.

I concede to Sandy and Off-Scenter. Perhaps Tea for Two will seem too sweet, but yikes, I just don't find it that way and I think it's unusualness and stunning beauty override any problem with "sweet."
Forgot, another thing I looooove about Tea for Two.. once you find the tea note.. you can follow it with your nose.. it's really cool. It's just a really nice dark black tea.. similar to something commercial like Lipton or Luzianne.

Stay the heck away from Havana Vanille. Good grief is that a sweet scent. Its nice, but pricey and I prefer other scents over it anyways.

I think they changed the name to Vanille Absolutment now.
T42 most definitely is a must must-try for anyone looking into this house. Try also Havana Vanille. Love them both..
Most masculine of this line, in my experience, is L'Eau du Navagateur It's not my favorite but it isn't sweet.

My favorites are: Timbuktu (my #1 incense), Dzongkha (incense & spices), Passage d' Enfer (fabulous patchouli drydown), Boise Farine ("comfort" scent for sleeping, apply sparingly) and Mure et Musc for the summer.
