A flanker to last year's gourmand, this has a leather note

Top notes of Calabrian bergamot, Italian lemon, Iranian galbanum followed by a heart of Tunisian orange blossom, Marshmallow and Italian iris. The base notes are leather and white musk.

Oh the dreaded marshmallow note.

My thoughts exactly , Mike!

I didn't like the first version but I'm still willing to try this new one.

Wow! This is just the start, I guess.

I just ordered this - it sounds interesting and I'm looking for something wearable again from Guerlain. I was thoroughly unimpressed with both Le Dandy and Le Voyou... the first 10 minutes of Dandy were nice and it was downhill from there. I've not even tried the original LPRN but, like Cherry Blossom, I'll be ordering this.

Good luck, and let us know what you think. I was somewhat favorable toward the previous one, as was my wife, but not enough for a buy. This one has two things going for it - Wasser and iris. I thought the previous one was a bit too much like those liquid candies for kids - almost like cough syrup. Similarly, the fascination with the scent was only momentary. But this one could be more mature thanks to the iris, and I'm a fan of too many Wasser scents to not give it a good chance.

I enjoyed Le Dandy. Let us know what you think of Le Petite Robe Noire 2, and how it compares to the first one.

A friend of mine smelled this today... his thoughts were that it is nicer than the LPRN 1 and that essentially LPRN 2 is mostly an orange blossom fragrance with a vanilla-pastry accord that is the "Marshmallow" note (an aroma chemical present in numerous gourmands), blended with iris and finished off with a light musk.

That sounds a lot like By Kilian Love to me.....I wonder how this compares.

Both scents are worthwhile and sweet, with the Version 1 fruitier and sweeter. Both are different and deserve a try.

I have tried both scents and both are wonderful Guerlains in spite of the sweetness. You can detect the complex, subtle blending of the notes that you cannot find in drugstore or bath/spa store offerings.

A bit luxe in price but worth it if you enjoy them. The bottles--a little too playful for an exclusive Guerlain--are tolerable and they do grow on you in time.

The Version 2 is less sweet on the top and more wearable, and does not have the ultra-fruity top notes of the original. Not to generalise, but younger women would probably enjoy the greater sweetness of the original version. The leather of Version 2 stated in the notes is very subtle.

All said, these two are must-sniffs when one gets the chance, and they need a full drydown wearing to appreciate.
