There have been threads in the past, but never a definitive poll.

I currently have both, and have (New Years) resolved to reduce overlap in my collection. They're similar in nature, and yet at times come across strikingly different.

Which would you rather have in your collection, given a choice between the two?

It's Tobacco Vanille for me though Chergui is good it gets to sweet on the drydown.

If forced to choose - Chergui. But I'd rather have both.

Tobacco Vanille for me, love that fragrance

For the record, I am leaning towards Chergui. There's something about TV that just isnt "perfect"--At times, I find my nose glued to my wrist. At others, I can't help but harness a "buttered popcorn" accord that kind of turns me off of the whole thing. I'd hate to break up my little symmetrical trio of TFs, but at this moment---and I have oscillated back and forth several times already---Chergui is the standout frag.

TV if I had to choose. Love both.

Tobacco Vanille

Oh god thats like asking me to choose a favorite child lol. I really can't see them being alike aside from being sweet with tobacco...Chergui is infinitely more versatile, but alot less sweet and masculine; it's also more aromatic and floral. Tobacco Vanille is extremely heavy and classy; it's dense and sweet - but much less versatile as a result.

But if i HAD to pick, I'd go with Tobacco Vanille, it knocks my socks off!

Holy, I was sure TV would get smashed 0.0
gets my vote, also but wow!

I personally don't think they smell all that similar.

I agree too and would choose Fumerie Turque instead of either.

Chergui, because I can actually smell tobacco in that one.

Probably of the two I lean towards Chergui.

[Well I'm glad this poll will be definitive.]

EDIT: Sorry, dumb and idiotic joke attempt in this post. Dumb of me and foolish. Nothing wrong with anything in this question except for what I've brought to it. Sorry.

I'm afraid I will have to agree with mrclmind. I find nothing similar between these two fragrances. If forced to choose, I would have to say Chergui. I do own both

Have a big sample of both. TV gets my vote. Chergui is a little too feminine for me.
I'm honestly shocked that TV is winning this. Chergui is pretty much perfection in a bottle; it's blending, quality, smell, sillage, longevity, everything is damn near perfection. Tobacco Vanille, on the other hand, feels so hollow and lifeless. It smells of the quality of if I had just smoked a vanilla black and mild and sniffed my fingers. I mean, sure it smells "good", but it's inanimate and just smells so...... flat. I'm very surprised at the love TV is getting here.

Not to mention that Chergui is the defending BMM 2010 champion.

Did that ever get concluded? lol All I remember was that it remained open way past when it was supposed to end and so we didn't know who won. But you have a point, it was at LEAST top two, if not the overall winner.

Tobacco Vanille....not fair that I voted and have yet to smell Chergui....it's hugely on my want to test list.
Between the 2, I'd pick Chergui (yes, it was the BMM 2010 champ) . I just find Tobacco Vanille a little lacking in depth. Btw when is the 'ultimate, poll-to-end-all-polls' version gonna be? :P
post #23 of 31
Did I get a bad sample of Chergui? All remember is a little fruity, a little sweet, and a little floral. I did not get tobacco, and thought it was rather "feminine." In fact, I recently acquired IsaBella, a "feminine" frag that seemed more masculine than Chergui (and I could detect the tobacco note in that one).

Chergui if you want something more complex
TV if you want vanilla aromatic pipe.

Both are magical!
I have a FB of Chergui and a nice decant of Tobacco Vanilla. Love both. I've voted for TV due to its power and longevity versus Chergui. Both are outstanding

TV is my holy grail, signature, no1, whatever u wanna call it, but Chergui is the scent i go for in the most magical of moments, it will be my wedding day scent, its very special to me i might wear it maybe 10 times in a year.

Saying all that, if i had to choose.... TV. I think Chergui is the better fragrance but TV is attached to a wonderful moment in my life. losing that scent is like losing that moment.
I don't think they're similar. Having both in a wardrobe wouldn't be redundant. I love and own Chergui. I would love to own a bottle of TV someday. =(
post #28 of 31
Love both! Leaning towards TV... today anyway!!
I've never used a poll to determine my choice of fragrance, only my nose and feelings in general.

Chergui, anyway. I've never smelled anything in the Tom Ford line that was worth having.

I think TV is a nice scent, but its monotony is boring
post #31 of 31
TV because it layers so well with Tuscan Leather or it can stand alone.
