First sample haul

A big hello to all Basenoters, and the Youtube community, your knowledge has been invaluable as I fast track my education.
My sense of smell has been the most sorely neglected of my senses over the years. Only now have I began taking very small steps into this world of fragrances but boy what have I been missing!
Anyway I wanted to share my excitement at receiving my first batch of samples today (Only nine days since ordering for delivery to Australia, thanks Luckyscent).
Here they are :
Continuing the search for 'my' vetiver fragrance;
- Comme des Garcons S4 - Vettiveru
- Etat Libre d'Orange - Fat Electrician
- Maitre Perfumeur et Gantier - Route Du Vetiver
Also
- Parfums de Nicolai - New York
- Atelier Cologne - Oolang Infini
- Commes des Garcons - Odeur 53
- Commes des Garcons - Kyoto
- Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris

Welcome to basenotes!

I would be very interested to see what you think of those scents. Give us some feedback after you've had some times to test them out. Cheers!

A few first impressions
- Comme des Garcons S4 - Vettiveru
Clean and fresh, this could be the something I'm after for the warmer weather (which is most of the time here). Thumbs up from the wife too.
- Maitre Perfumeur et Gantier - Route Du Vetiver
Whoa!! Polar opposite to the CdG for me on the Vetiver scale. Get that medicinal opening people mention but after that I'm loving it. Big surprise my wife prefers this to any of the Vetivers I've tried to date. Others being Guerlain's Vetiver (respect to Guerlain but neither of us are smokers and we both get a deal breaking ashtray note with the classic) and Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver (nice enough but not at that price).
- Etat Libre d'Orange - Fat Electrician
This is a good one too. Need to try it a few more times, but given my liking for the other two this might become a bit redundant in terms of adding it to my wardrobe.

Great choices IMO. Now you're ready for full bottles.

Bit more testing ahead of me yet. PdN New York could well be heading in that direction though. Tried a patch on my arm yesterday in 36"C weather and it held up well. At home today and have applied a reasonable amont to my neck and wrists, 23"C (thunder and raining) and I'm really enjoying it (3 hours after application at present).
I like to be careful as I tried Eau Sauvage twice at stores not long ago. 31"C the first time and I really liked it. A few days later 33"C and it was fine at first but soon after leaving the shop it turned really nasty on me, first and only time I've had to scrub something off. That said it was from a different store and perhaps it was a bad tester so I'm going to have to try a few more times yet.

The only one on your list Ive tried so far is Oolang Infini, and I love it.

While you are trying out vetivers check out Sel de Vetiver. It isnt my favorite note, but I do like Sel.
