CREED: Who has NEVER tried them?

Who would like to confess your shame?
I've never tried any of them. The few times I've seen it they wouldn't spray test it and I'm not blind buying a $230 bottle.
Me! All I hear is they smell good but have longevity issues. And way to expensive for me. No shame here.
Lol no shame, I would never buy that overhyped trash.
I have them and they are better than average, but not worth the price IMO unless you just really LOVE a particular one and have it as your signature scent.
Me neither. I do have a bottle of Cool Water though.
You can get the samples relatively inexpensively, for those who are interested.
So far I've blindly purchased 4 oz. bottles of GIT (Excellent) / Aventus (On the Way). I'm in college and have received a lot of compliments for GIT. Some food for thought... Maserati oil changes are about the price of a Creed 4 oz. I guess it depends on your level of discretionary income. Or, we could all just wear Michael Jordan cologne and trust brands like Toyota.
Nope, never tried them. I enjoy blind buying and investigating new scents. I can do this at the budget end of the spectrum or with the odd eBay bargain so I really don't want to develop a taste for expensive scents.

I have got some more expensive designer scents in my wardrobe, but mostly I like to check out older, more obscure or overlooked scents. If I try GIT and like it, it won't be a huge shock. The stuff can't be AWFUL, otherwise people wouldn't keep buying it. The Emperor's New Clothes effect doesn't last for long (looking at YOU, Unforgivable...) so I'm sure it's technically ok. Just doesn't interest me!

Could you tell me where? Theperfumedcourt is expensive and luckyscent.com doesn't carry them.

I was also in the camp "NO way would I buy expensive fragrances", but after going into a store and testing Aventus on my skin. I was hooked. So I recently purchased GIT, SMW, MI, and Santal from other basenoters.

I still wouldn't buy full price, which is why I buy from other basenoters. Def. more cost effective.

Thank you for that kind comment!

Unfortunately, Ive never tried them. The same with Lutens and Killian. For me, its simple economics. I just dont have the dough to get them. Over the past several months I have done a lot of sampling(I love it). The prices of those mentioned have deterred me.

So if you find any extra juice, I will be more than happy to relieve you of your burden.

Cheers Rex

I have tried all of the major Creeds, but I have never forked over $250 for a bottle. Creed is pretty good, but way overpriced. I mean, If you are going to spend that kind of money, look into Serge Lutens, Tom Ford (private blends), Bond No. 9, L'Artisan, or Amouage or something. Creed is way overrated.
I went through a Creed phase for about 2 years. Owned Silver Mountain Water and Green Irish Tweed. Later for some reason they made me nauseous. So I kind backed off. The killer was when I discovered Guerlain and all of its glory, and realized that Creed lacked so much art, class, and history, etc.

That was about 6 years ago. Have not touched a Creed since.

Lacks history? Creed has been one of the world's premier perfume houses for more than 250 years. It's older than the USA...

Yes, its history can only be verified by its own records. No poets, writers or famous persons from the past has ever made reference to them. They've claim some royalties have worn their scents, but no one can vouch. Creed came about around 1970 before then, their is no true history.

Unlike Guerlain, which can be verified through different books, writtings, etc. Many books have been written about or made reference to Guerlain. Writers such as Collette, Marcel Proust. Royalties such as the Empress Eugine even gave him the right to use the royal french emblem of the Bees.

Creed has no such warrants. Even the Coat of Arms that is make to look like the Prince of Wales code of arms minus it "Ich dien".

Creed's history is all self proclaimed, only reference they get is through their own packaging. Guerlain, Chanel, Panheligon, Floris, Lubin, Molinard, Coty, etc...those are names that history can back up.

...and who is the source behind this....Creedboutique. Again...self made reference. Not much to go on.

To expand on the shameless promotion. Below is a quote from Creed website.

"In more recent times, two First Ladies of the U.S. of different political parties have both worn CREED Love In White, which is why it is sometimes called, “the White House fragrance”.

What they did is send the fragrance to Laura Bush and Michelle Obama to the White House. That's it. end of story. We dont even know if the ladies actually wore it. But the action of sending it to them, now allows them to say that they have serviced two first ladies. That is sad. They did the same with the Pope.

They do this so that they can then publish in their website and folks begin to associate them with celebrities and thus pump their image and sales.

Me, unashamed. I live in a small town on a small budget. So far the only frag I'd even considering spending that kind of money on is Dulcis in Fundo, which has spoiled me for almost everything else.
Here. Never tried Creed but I'd like to, namely Aventus and Bois de Portugal for starters.
Creed means Greed
I've occasionally smelled a spritz on paper when I pass their counter, but I've never smelled anything worth pursuing.

And they make it very hard for me to take them seriously. The last time I made a sincere attempt to see what they had to offer, at a Neimann's counter, the SA started off with, "you know, of course, that Creed only uses natural ingredients." I couldn't get away from her fast enough.
I have a 1-ounce bottle of Millesime Imperial, but that's it. The drydown is nice, but the top has a kind of rotten melon smell that I don't like very much; it's actually unpleasant, like spoiled fruit.

That is my only experience with Creed, but I'm not against trying others.
I've tried them many times on paper, but never had a sample that I gave a full wearing or two. So, yeah...
I've not tried any Creed frags and I’m not in a rush to do so either. I'll probably try them after I've been able to experience more truly niche frags.

Longevity issues with Creeds?????
They last all day long, and beyond (at least on me). Specially SMW and OV.

I'll second SMW's longevity. I gave my bare chest two sprays, put on an undershirt then my shirt proper. I use an unscented detergent & after washing & drying my overshirt still smells of it!

VIW is another story...

My shame is i tested Creed. Such an overated house with only one exception: Royal Water.
to those that complain about price, you're 100% right

that's why I always do overstock or fragrancenet for Creed, decent discounts
post #37 of 38
Huge waste of money, no justification spending that much money on frag from a house with serious projection and longevity issues. And no one will even know how much money u spent on it without asking. Plenty of frags that smell just as good with 100x the longevity and projection for a fraction of the price. The price tag is NOT an indication of quality.
If you asked me this question yesterday, I would have replied "me"...however, I did try a couple this morning (Original Vetiver and Tabarome). The Tabarome was ok, I was not over enamored with the vetiver.
