What was the first fragrance that you bought? - Page 2

CK One back in 1996-7. I would have been about 13 or 14 years old.

CK One back in the 90s. I would have been 13-4!

Probably some kind of Avon cologne in high school. Not only did they smell good, they came in a variety of cool looking bottles (i.e., old model cars).

Then, I probably progressed to things like Jade East, Canoe, Brut, British Sterling, and British Sterling Lemon!

Drakkar Noir circa 1984.

The first bottle of scent I recieved as a gift was as a teenager in the 80's, and I do believe it was either Givenchy - Xeryus or YSL's - Jazz, although I cant remember which I had first.

Strangley enough, I dont rememebr me getting into buying scents until the early 90's, and one of the first fragrances I may of hunted out and purchased was Calvin Kleins CK One.

From there it spiralled into a regular thing, with D&G's first fragrance, and so the story continues...

My sister gave me Paco Rabanne XS as a gift.
The first fragrance I purchased on my own was, Pierre Cardin Pour Homme. I was so proud of my purchase at the time. Funny how it opened the way for my love and appreciation of fragrances.

Polo (green)... possibly a Christmas gift now that I think about it. The first time I forked over my money at a fragrance counter was for Aramis 900.

Apart from Axe and the like in middle school, my first "proper" fragrance was Preferred Stock.

When I was in grade 8 (6 years ago), I bugged my dad to buy me Ferrari Black from a cologne warehouse, picked up a 125mL for $20. Was so happy I had it, it smelled wonderful and I will always have many memories of it. Now, I have Boss Bottled which is essentially what Ferrari Black dreams to be. Ferrari Black is basically Boss Bottled without the sillage/projection and longevity, a toned down version essentially. Still, will never forget it.

My first that I purchased with my own money though, was Le Male in grade 10, another 125 mL tester bottle haha. I truly adore it, as common as it may be, it's very unique (not counting knock-offs like Cuba and Perry Ellis White), and I fall in love with the smell everytime. Will be a classic for me forever.

Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme, purchased for cash at the 5th Avenue store, by a skinny teenager in Levis.

As a kid in the early '80s, I loved Polo. I first tried it from a machine in the airport where you could get a spray of either it or Aramis for a quarter. I couldn't afford a bottle of it, though, so I bought myself a bottle of a knockoff called "Lancer."

On my next trip I tried Aramis, and liked it even better. I saved up and bought myself a bottle of the real thing after a while, from the fragrance counter at Dillards. I was probably 11 years old at the time.

Wow, that brings back memories. That was another early one for me. My oldest brother drove a nice little MG B, and it always smelled like Pierre Cardin. I have a newer bottle of it, and either it has changed, or my nose has. I still like the overall scent, but it's not so great on my skin. A big bottle of it resides in the console of my car as an air freshener.

British Sterling was my first crush on cologne in 10th grade in the late 70's
The First bottle that I bought after using my brothers bottle was Jovan Musk, also in late 10th grade in the late 70's

After trying a sample I got on E-bay, I coughed up the cash for a $14 stick of Breath of God.

Got a FB after that. While I now have other things, I love it still.

My Mom bought me Avon Black Suede. It was around 1982. I was 15. I think my next one was Polo. It was a big step up. But I appreciate the fact that Mom paid for all of them, not me. My high school scents were those two plus Aramis and Drakkar. Those were the power house days before aquatics.

Cool Water!

When I was 16 I wanted a scent but didn't know where to start, so I asked the assistant in the perfume store for a recommendation. Davidoff coolwater was the reply, so I bought it. However, I hated it then and still can't stand it now. I ended up pouring it in the iron (with water) just to try to get rid of it. Luckily it didn't make my clothes smell too much.

I'd say it was Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme.

I know I used Herrera for Men a lot before that, but I can't remember if I ever bought it or just used my dad's.
I think the first fragrance I bought for myself was either Drakkar or some Calvin Klein. The first fragrance I ever owned, however, was Polo. Good old high school days.

I think it was 1989 with Santos Sport. I was a pretty classy teenager!

Polo Crest, when I was around 15/16 in the early '90's. I really loved that stuff. Unfortunately now discontinued, but I've found a worthy substitute in Chevignon Brand.

For me, it is Soul by Hugo Boss, not a bad thing, but already been left in a drawer cornor long time ago.
Old Spice, but my first "real" cologne I bought was Drakkar Noir. I already had about 5 or 6 colognes but they were all given to me.
I think I was 11, so that would be 1991. I bought Aspen at Walgreens because I smelled it on my friends older brother and loved it.

This was not my first frag though. My mom bought me Drakkar noir, and I had a small eternity splash

My mother brought me Lauder for men back in 82.

I bought a bottle of Aqua De Gio when it first came out. At some point it was lost for many years in boxes. It was only later when I started collecting fragrances I found it again still barely used.

I sadly don't recall the first purchase I made myself, but the first 'proper' fragrance I owned came as a Christmas gift - Ralph Lauren Polo. I did choose it though!

I think it was either Hugo Boss Bottled or Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio.

My first bottle was of a Brazilian perfume, from an unknown manufacturer. I was probably 11 years old. My first real perfume was bought when I was 14 or 15. It was the super powerful Azzaro.
