Released in past year that is really good?

Hey all!

I have not been to the site since I think late 2009...my hobby sort of stopped due to losing job, money issues.

So I have been wearing just what I have, which in a way made me appreciate it a lot more.

I was just curious what has come out since Jan 2010, that has been making waves? anything new that is really good? I like a bit of everything.

You picked a good year to take a hiatus - there weren't a ton of fantastic new releases. Did you check out the Kurdijians? Cologne/Absolute Pour le Soir are particularly good. Although they've been around a couple years, the Xerjoff line finally hit the US and although the prices are flat out *retarded* some of the perfumes are exceedingly well made (Homme, Elle, Richwood, Dhofar, Esquel, Modoc, etc.). Serge Lutens Boxeuses (non-export) is well done, as is Nasomatto Nuda. Dior moved the excellent re-issue of Diorama from Paris-only to select US Saks, and...well... yeah that's all that comes to mind. Definitely check out the Kuridijian line....

EDIT: I forgot about Guerlain Dandy - great scent.

I don't know if it's been or will be making any waves at all (too pricey), but regardless of the price Xerjoff Richwood could be the best new released frag I've smelled in a very long time.

Btw i noticed basenotes has upgraded its forums..is it just me or is the site very slow now?

Yeah it weird me taking some time off..I really am enjoying what I have..before I always felt I had to find the next best scent and never really happy with what I had.

I did find 2 scents that I own, I cannot wear anymore not sure why Opium PH edp, and L'instant Geurlain Extreme, for some reason both are just way too heavy. I am starting to think I enjoy more scents that are not as heavy.

There is a new Guerlain duo, with the name of Arsene Lupin: Dandy and Voyou. They seem to be very promising, from the comments and reviews.

All in all I thought 2010 was a dismal year for new releases. Nothing caught my fancy among designer introductions, Bleu de Chanel having been a monumental yawn. My favorites from 2010 were Papyrus de Ciane, an austere, dry green woody scent, and Tilda Swinton Like This, an intriguing fantasy of pumpkin and spice. Others I enjoyed were Vetyverio, Carillon pour un Ange, and Oranges and Lemons Say the Bells of St. Clements.
