Advice on the newer Aqua di Parma´s please.

There have been so many new varieties of this recently.....soon they will out do Heinz with it´s 57 !
Someone recommended to me a very expensive one which has extrait strength. Do they mean the Profumo, Intensa,
or the assoluta ? Is it really worth the money, and what about the other newbies......anything really spectacular ??

I suspect it's the profumo, which is not in the eau de cologne style of the intensa, assoluta, essenza etc. It's and old style perfume, rich, somewhat plummy; I smelled the EdP version (which is expensive), from what you say, they must have a parfum concentration as well. I liked it a lot, but at those prices, you should definitely try it first.

The intensa and the assoluta are in the eau de cologne style (though richer than the average), so they are different animals altogether. I like the assoluta, with its touches of green; perhaps I still give an edge to the Chanel eau de Cologne, but the assoluta is a worthy contender, and it lasts more on me than the Chanel.
