a well done fruity grapefruit none abrrasive metallic scent?

not spicy and not powdery or minty peppermint. Really strong fruit and not a teenage girl fruit but a well done fruit and citrus with a metallic musky dry down? I am aware of the platinum egoiste, silver factory, chrome and there are a lot of perfume houses that do a metallic but not fruit more herbal fresh and harsh metallic. I enjoy a metallic that is pleasant to the nose and alluring. I am interested in the amouge silver man and lutens silver. I currently own SMW which I love but it is less metallic and more well done violet accord.

I cant what to get you guys opinion. thx

Grapefruit, you say?

Aqua Allegoria Pampelune by Guerlain. If you live near a Sephora, check it out in the women's section.

Also, for metallic, Silver Mountain Water is most definitely a primo choice. Chrome is pretty good metallic-wise IMO. I'd even go as far as to say Eau de Grey Flannel (blue bottle), which can be found for very cheap at TJ Maxx/Marshall's.

The vegetable and mineral juice, made without animal by-products or musk, sparkles with orange (specifically formulated for Hermès by Albert Vieille) and grapefruit that blends with flint for a mineral note, and combines with pepper, bay rose, geranium, patchouli, benzoin and vetiver around the central note of Atlas cedar to enhance its Earthly tones.

Annick Goutal Eau d' Hadrien is a classic grapefruit scent.
Pamplelune has a patchouli base. Sephora carries it.

Annick Goutal Eau d' Hadrien what is the note breakdown and feel of this scent?
Eau de Hadrien has changed; it is not as edgy as it used to be. Here is what Tania Sanchez had to say about it in the spring 2009 Perfumes: The Guide newsletter:

"Eau d’Hadrien eau de parfum (Annick Goutal) "" lemon wood $$ When you have a fragrance composed entirely of citrus oils and moss extracts, and industry allergen restrictions command you to strike out the limonene, citronellal and oakmoss, you’re screwed. The decent thing to do is discontinue, but it’s not easy to axe a big seller. So you compromise. Eau d’Hadrien is far thinner—more lemon-scented dishwashing soap than lemon oil—and more floral than ever before, putting it into competition with richer colognes like Chanel’s, for which it’s no match. TS"

I am fond of grapefruit notes also. Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi has a delightful grapefruit note over fig. Notes are tangerine, bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, cedar, fig nectar, pink pepper, jasmine, fig wood, musk and cedar. Not metallic, though.

Layer Chrome with RPM Intense by Avon. All I got from the latter was pure grapefruit juice, and as natural smelling as the real deal. You can pick it up for around $10 and see for yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made by Ocean Spray.

Try O'Pomelo by Comptoir Sud Pacifique. It's so natural as a real grapefruit juice! Crisp sweet and very refereshing grapefruit scent.

Balle de Match is my favorite. Also, if you can find it, Guerlain Homme l'eau is excellent as well.
Look no further than Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pampelune.
Balle de Match doesn't fulfill your metallic requirement but it is a very fine grapefruit fragrance.

Another with grapefruit (and other citrus/fruit) is Odin 02 Owari; see Luckyscent and Aedes. It smells very nice, but I have to say the citrus notes are fleeting. But then citrus usually is.

Odin 02 Owari what does its drydown develop into?

i am not a fan of spicy peppery or powdery. thanks
post #22 of 27
I just dabbed on a bit of my sample from Luckyscent but it wll take a while before I smell the drydown.

There is "cubeb pepper" in the base accorfing to the Luckyscent site (see: http://www.luckyscent.com/shop/secti.../02_Owari.html) but that is not the same as black pepper, which I also find tiresome if it goes on too long.

What about Hermes Pamplemousse Rose?

Also, I am confused. Do you want a metallic musky drydown, or are you trying to avoid that? In your thread title, it appears you're trying to avoid it, but in your post you seem to ask for it.

Pamplemousse Rose has a drydown reminiscent of Terre d'Hermes, with perhaps a bit more vetiver. Very refreshing, straightforward green grapefruit scent.

I wore this as my SotD, spraying more of it on to test it better. At this point it's definitely in drydown.
It is a little sweet, not spicy or peppery to my nose, maybe a bit of cedar. Musk is soft, not harsh. Not metallic, though. I think this scent majors on it top and middle notes and the drydown is dull.
