About to spring on Chanel Exclusifs Eau de Cologne - some advice please first.

I've spritzed it on enough times to know I like it a lot. I'm even at peace with the price by now. I keep hearing about the synthetic/sour but not entirely unpleasant notes of the drydown, but I have not experienced this personally - maybe because I have not yet had the pleasure of liberal and over-liberal application. For reference, I do love the following frags from the same general family that also have a sour/powdery or sour/sharp note in the drydown:

Eau de Patou

Balle de Match

Eau de Courreges

My finger's on the button - any comments to either push me over the edge or bring me back from it are appreciated.

On a related matter, is there any difference in formulation between the new 2.5 bottles and the bigger 6 oz ones? I'm assuming the larger ones could be older, since that's the original size of the Exclusifs. The Exclusifs have been around for a few years now, time enough for a sneaky reformulation in the new size. Any thoughts on this also appreciated.

Thank you kindly.
J.

A little short on longevity, but a great scent. Go for it.

Go ahead.

I have found no synthetic note in the drydown even after liberal application. By the way, I own the *400* ml bottle (*12* oz), if you're going for the $200 200-ml one, you might as well want to consider the $315 (if I remember correctly) 400ml one. I have not yet smelled the 75ml bottle, but I'd be surprised if it had been reformulated, so far IFRA hasn't dug its claws on eau de colognes (yet?).

i'm intrigued by the 400ml mention. Is that a splash or a spray? Thanks.

A splash. I decant into smaller sprayer bottles (one kept at home, one in the office etc)

Now I'm salivating. A big splash bottle, to use with the pour-and-slap method to invigorate and give you that lavish, wealthy feeling.

Jacques Polge made it as sort of an afterthought, but it's the most ethereal and uplifting eau de cologne I've ever owned.

Its an ephemeral beauty but its quiddity resonates for hours.

I would go for it. IMO you won't be disappointed.
