L'Artisan Traversee Du Bosphore

I just got a sample of this stuff. I really don't know what to make of it. At first sniff, it hits me from all directions. Spicy, floral, fresh, tobacco, citrus, sweet.. Really different, even for L'Artisan. It's got a little of that Tea for two tobacco in the background.

Has anyone else tried this?

Wasn't my cup of tea, but some do like it.

I bought a bottle when it first came out blind and love it. No regrets.

Oh thanks 30 roses, if OP sees this he can combine them.

I just put it on my skin about 10 minutes ago, and now the leather is starting to come out. Nice. I love leather

Iris, leather, loukhoum, saffron, roses.
Smells familiar but, in total, unlike anything else.

Very sweet? I've heard it smells like a dessert...

Very nice and arguably the BEST in their offering followed by Passage Enfer, Navigator, Fou de Absinthe, Merchant Loup etc..

I notice it to be drying down sweeter, but it definitley isn't a gourmand.

It's definitely got a very "in between" quality -- that's why I can't really make up my mind about it. In the later stages the leather, which is more suede, and the iris dominate the proceedings for me.

Very weird, I would never wear it. A bit similar to Bois Farine, which for me not a good thing

I'm a big fan of Duchaufour's work, but I found this creation to be a bit too sweet.

If one likes Iris then Traversee du Bosphore is the beginning of a beautiful olfactory journey. I tried this early in its release and found it unique, in a good way. Deep down I find a bit of Shalimar peaking through the Iris, but very understated. Traversee is a subtle fragrance; not at all loud or assertive, it plays close to the skin for me and I really quite like it. Loukhoum, yes, but not too sweet. After all loukhoum is supposed to be gourmand. I can envision earth tone silks and brocades and the flavor of the region. Exotic. Well done Monsieur Duchaufour.

Like Kevin, I really thought I would love this since I love Turkish Delight, I love leather and I love Bertrand Duchaufour - but I really did not like this at all. It's not the sweetness so much as the type of sweetness that it has. Sort of a powdery, hazy, musky sweetness - reminded me of certain types of desserts that are just too rich and decadent for me to enjoy. I must admit I also found the dry down felt a bit too feminine for me too (whatever that means).
