Have You Listed In Your Wardrobe All Your Samples/minis/Decants?

I decided to begin listing my samples/minis/decants (less than 30ml) in the sample section of my wardrobe. Many more to go and I am already pushing 150 and almost 2 hours doing it. Geeze! I didn't think I had this many. Also, I note that I have a much larger percentage of frags marketed toward women in this group than I have in my bottle wardrobe.

I checked the middle size to larger wardrobes of a few Basenoters and noted that about half I checked haven't listed many samples owned, as I had not up until a few days ago. I think I had listed a total of 19 then.

So the question is, have you taken the time to list all your samples/minis/decants?

No, and don't plan to. The turnover rate is too high. The sample section of the wardrobe would be obsolete almost as soon as it was recorded.

I can't even list my wardrobe (collection) on the site because it's too massive (now at 1077) and those are bottles. Don't have any samples , minis, or decants. However, I understand why people might want to include them in their wardrobe though.

Oh * groan* - my wardrobe is not up to date .... and I have so many samples. I think it's a good idea , kbe but a huge task for me. I must get round to it .

Yes, l have. l tend to use up samples fairly slowly, & l find looking at my wardrobe list a useful way of reminding myself what l have. lt helps me choose what to use up next. l also have a slight case of OCD*, which means that as soon as a sample is used up, it gets deleted from my sample list! And of course, new ones are added as soon as they are acquired.

*Or maybe l'm just incredibly organised!
I try to keep my samples up to date, so I can trade them. I have very few decants but I list those
post #7 of 47
nope,only listed full bottles.
Currently I'm only listing minis/decants under "samples" and not under "collection" - only FBs in collection.
Samples and full bottles I try to keep up to date. But just the "tried" frags? No shot

Same here but my "tried, samples and decant" aren't up to date.
I put minis in my regular wardrobe, but samples and decants I don't bother recording. Just keeping track of the minis is enough for my rotten brain and tired fingers.
Minis that I intend to keep, yes.

Samples, no. They typically get used or swapped.

Decants, no. Don't really have too many of those though.

For something to be listed in my wardrobe, it implies an intention to keep it. For a while at least!
I used to. Now, I list the manufactued bottles in the wardrobe. Any samples or decants (all under 8ml) purchased from TPC just go in the sample section. I have my By Kilian A Taste Of Heaven listed in my wardrobe even though it is the travel atomizer. I paid for the case & 4 tube package so that justified it for me.
All my samples are listed as samples in the samples section.
I don't buy samples but I've been given a couple of Jo Malone ones when I've bought the bottles so I listed them. It's easy listen them when you only have four aha.

Most of my samples are listed. I need a catch-up, and some aren't in the directory. I like to hit the random link in my wardrobe when I can't decide.
I haven't listed samples in a while... In my collection, only one bottle is 30ml or less.
Wardrobe is full bottle standard sizes only. Minis are with samples and I don't list them. Too many and I'm getting rid of them all with very few exceptions.
I never list samples and only list minis if they are rare fragrances that are hard to find otherwise or if I have multiple bottles.
Only bottles.
No, it's too much just to keep up with full bottles, especially now that the "Settings" can't be edited and so many fragrances aren't being entered into the Directory; furthermore, when fragrances that weren't listed and I had entered in "Settings" do get entered into the Directory, there's no way to erase them from the "Settings" list... and I'm beginning to lose track of things that I have bought that aren't in the Directory and I haven't been able to list in "Settings."

I count only scents that I have bought myself or received as gifts, and in both cases, only if they are in sizes that are sold commercially.
Nope they dont count
Yes I do, but then I am new to this and don't have that many. I can certainly see how it might be unrealistic to do so for some of the veterans here though. I hope to keep my list as up to date as possible but I've already found that I have some samples that are not listed in the directory. This is unfortunate as I do generally find the wardrobe useful for selecting what I might like to wear or test over the coming days.

Not even in the samples section of the wardrobe?

I list my bottles and large decants in the collection section and my samples/smaller decants in the sample section of my wardrobe. It is up to date.
No , I keep my samples and decants separatly as I consider them either a work in progress ! Or to buy . My wardrobe is full bottles only Im afraid

l agree Jaime, this is frustrating & can make it very difficult to keep things properly up to date. l have samples listed in my "tried" list from before the "samples" list existed, but am unable to move or delete them!

Yes, me too. lsn't this what the OP meant?? He does say "in the sample section", guys!
No.
Too much effort and I do not see the advantage of keeping samples up to-date. The "Collection" and "Wish-List" are the only ones I use and try to keep up to-date. As these functions are more for me to use as a tool then for others to view.
No! I only have full bottles listed in my 'drobe.
I do list decant with 20ml and up as regular
bottles, though - only about 3 in total.
My minis and samples go into my samples list.

I don't list my pure parfums, they are listet in
text above my wardrobe.

You can still get to settings via http://www.basenotes.net/oldwardrobe/settings

Thanks ceekay, but the old settings do not include a "samples" list!

No, in fact quite the opposite, the "fragrances I own"-section only contains regular and regular-sized bottles
post #37 of 47
OMG, no. I spend too much time on here already. That would take forever for me to do.
My line is sort of arbitrary, but it works for me. Small decants and samples under 8-10mL go in samples until gone.

I list larger decants/minis under collection. My reason is that with my rotation I will likely "own" those at least 6 months before I use them up so it is just easier.

I don't have nearly the gigantic 'drobe some of y'all do though.
Oh, but the majority of them are full bottles in my collection....or ones that I had a large decant and bought or am buying a full bottle. I typically don't buy large decants unless I've tried a frag and am like 90% I want a FB but want to live with it for awhile to be sure.
I entered all my samples at one point before there was a samples section, so that if I wanted to smell something I could check whether I owned a sample. Maybe one day I'll go and re-enter everything to indicate whether it is a sample or bottle, but probably not. It's nice that there is that option now though.
If I get a decant of 10 ml or more, I'll list it. But below that- no. Most of my listed scents are full bottles.
I list them as I get them. I only get a handful at a time. However, I do have a list for just the ones I plan on wearing.
Nope. It's apparent I'm a parent. There are far better ways to invest my time.

And, BN hasn't about 1/2 my samples even listed making a Wardrobe list impossible and yes, they are readily available.

I'd do it if there were 26-27 hours in a day. :-)
I don't list samples as they get used up in sampling exercises so I find listing these a pointless exercise. I don't use volume as criteria but by the role the fragrance play in my social attire. Even if I wear it once a year on special anniversary dates, it goes into the wardrobe.

I find the idea of wardrobe listing by bottle volume somewhat 'silly' as pure parfum usually comes in much smaller volumes even though they cost much more the average 100ml designer crap. And when your 100 ml bottle runs low & you are left with say 10ml, what then? Do you then remove the fragrance from your wardrobe list? But w/e - it's really none of my business.
No, just the bottles.
No of course NOT!
I've been detailing them all in the relevant area's but I might start a spreadsheet and give up on BN for anything other than full bottles. This is mainly because I think I need somewhere to keep comments on samples for future reference.
