why do you wear fragrance?

It's a great accessory.

For me it's sort of like the intellectual version of aromatherapy. LOL.
Because it gives my confidence a boost and i LOVE knowing that women/men like the way i smell
post #7 of 42
It starts out cultural. It's abnormal not to wear perfume.
Secondly because perfumes, if synced to your mood and style, can enhance any situation.

Good question.

First and foremost, because I enjoy it. I like the smell and I find scents alluring on others.

As well, it accompanies me during my day. It gives me company

I have also always been interested by fragrance ads and counters ( when I was a young boy, especially).

My natural scent is irresistibly masculine. Wearing perfume just gives other guys a chance.

So I don't smell like a medieval swineherd.
But mostly for my personal enjoyment.

Great answer.
Because it smells good.
Because dignity matters.

A perfume is not necessary for living but it works well for seducing women especially if the perfume contains quality musk and that is of course is a fairy tale but for me perfume sets the mood for the rest of the day like a good cup of coffee in the morning.
because I know I'm too lazy to look good, smelling good is easier.

Just kidding, I simply enjoy it, but maybe it's a little cultural since I'm middle eastern, and I just took it a step further by being a collector.
Because it makes me feel good. It's the only reason.
Smells good, relaxing...

I switch fragrances depending on mood

It's part of the overall dandy thing that I do, in a restrained way. Also, the aromatherapy that Bigsly brought up. I like that too. Once I discovered Gendarme I realized that fragrance is a whole world unto itself, and I wanted to know more about it. Besides, one always needs multiple hobbies if one hates to travel.

I like this description...pretty much how I feel. Not to mention, certain smells make me think of specific times/places/people in my life...also, smelling some things that I may not ever have smelled without fragrance..it's like an adventure..
enables one to express their mood, or even has the capability to change my mood!
and I really like what Surfacing mentioned, about keeping one company
post #21 of 42
To pick up chicks obviously.
Changes/improves my mood, as well as I like to hear good comments, from those around me, about how I smell
post #23 of 42
Because the right fragrance on the right day makes me smile.
Because I like smelling and smelling of fine fragrance.
"Because I care"
I'm a dropped panty collector. And for my own enjoyment.

Never realised it, but this is so true; I can feel rather alone without a frangrance. Not naked (like some would describe being perfume-less) and not lonely... but kind of 'me -1'. So, it's my (other) '+1'!
Because it makes my days more enjoyable.
Smelling something that I find pleasant all day is nice. Knowing that the smell is me makes it even better.

Joseph Campbell once said 'our job is to live joyously in this world of sorrows'. Wearing fragrance helps aim me in that direction.

If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
- Moslih Eddin Saadi,
Gulistan (Garden of Roses)

It feeds my soul. Makes me smile when I get a whiff during the day. Sometimes reminds me of other times. Sometimes it's comforting. Sorta like wearing sexy lingerie that no one else will see. It just makes me feel feminine and special.

Pleasure, curiosity, fashion addiction, intellectual stimulation, mood, relaxation, need for diversity and the list may go on (nearly) without ending

Beautiful quote.

I love smelling good!

....and I don't want to walk naked outside
post #35 of 42
To quote our own JaimeB, "I just want to smell nice."
It's like taking a good friend along wherever you go.
A fragrance that smells good to me and on me pulls my outfit together better if I am dressing to impress, or just makes the day better all around if I'm my own audience. In a way, maybe there is a bit of public aromatherapy going on, too.

Fragrances don't hurl things at me when I feel compelled to start meeting other fragrances.
