i'm not sure of the completeness of the counters here so something not so hard to find from the non exclusive/ paris only range. oh and jicky doesn't count!

i can see wearing things like no.19 or cristal. cologne type scents but also oriental types like shalimar lite. coco mademoiselle/ no.5 i cannot see myself wearing.
Well, the answer to this is simple when it comes to the Guerlain--- Mitsouko. As for the Chanel, I would say pretty much any of the exclusives or No. 19.

Chanel - Sycomore or Coromandel

Guerlain - Cuir Beluga
For Guerlain orientals try Shalimar, Vol de Nuit, L'Heure Bleue and Samsara

For Chanel try Cristalle EdT, No.22, or any of the Exclusifs.

Chanel - Sycomore or Coromandel

Guerlain - Cuir Beluga

Side note - the above quoted perfumes are unisex, except Sycomore which is masculine. I've even seen Sycomore kept with the masculine perfumes in Chanel boutiques....

From Chanel I'd go with Cristalle, No. 19, or No. 5 Eau Première. From Guerlain, Jicky, Mitsouko, Shalimar, and Vol de Nuit all make perfectly good masculines in my book. If you can get hold of the Chanel Exclusifs, Cuir de Russie, Bois des Îles, and Sycomore are very much worth trying.

Samsara, i used to wear this daily some years ago. At that time, it never crossed my mind that it was marketed to women
But i loved it, and im actually gonna buy one again.

These are very feminine IMO. Wife and sister-in-law have worn these quite a bit.

Chanel no 5
Guerlain Mitsuoko

Of the Guerlains I am partial to Vol de Nuit.

Oh, very good!
And, for a green Chanel, Cristalle Eau Vert and a less "peachy" Guerlain, Chamade edt. #19 can be a bit too green for some. Wait, at least 2 hours, to judge the Chamade. The dry down is fabulous!

Chanel - Chance

Chanel 19
Shalimar
Mitsouko
Chanel No 5 Parfum
I agree with most basenoters here... but let me add two of my choices (besides the ones already posted here):

Guerlain Chamade
Chanel Coco

Not the most masculine frags out there but they smell wonderful.

I have chamade edp but i think i'd be more comfortable with the edt as is "lighter and more air-y"

Chanel - No 5 Eau Premiere
Chanel No 22

Guerlain Vega
Guerlain Philtre D`Amour
Guerlain Vetiver Pour Elle

This fragrances are Florals , citrus and touch of sparkling and refreshing Aldehydes...
I think is nice for this season ( spring - summer )
My faves at the moment are Chanel no. 5 Eau Premiere and Eau de Shalimar.

I'll chime in with the chorus and say Chanel No.19, but I don't think (maybe I haven't read close enough) anyone has mentioned Guerlain's Parure. Might be hard to find and thus not qualify, but there also might be bottles lingering and stashed away on shelves in far away places like Manila. If so, hot dog!, you're in business and I think you should try Parure.

Chanel Coromandel

Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille
Chanel: Cristalle EDT, N° 19 EDP, Bois des Iles (exclusif)

Guerlain: Mitsouko, Vol de Nuit, Sous Le Vent, Shalimar.

So many great suggestions that I only want to specify which concentration (sorry, I have no interest in EdTs here) to my perception.

Guerlain:
L'Heure Bleue (is the most feminine of the ones mentioned, but not more than Chamade) - I'd definitely recommend to get the new extrait. I have been complimented by a woman not knowing what it was.
Vol de Nuit - in my top 3 of perfumery, maybe even no. 1, but pointless (extremely short-lived) in EdT. So, there is only the extrait left.
Shalimar - the current EdP and extrait are easy wears for a man.
Mitsouko - the current EdP is more "masculine" than the extrait.

Chanel:
Not an easy house (and not one that I'm too familiar with either) for me since it is so quintessentially "woman" to me. However my choice would be Cuir de Russie. I love No. 22, but I think it is very 'femme' and I have to be in the mood to carry it proudly. I would definitely look into the Exclusifs and pick what you like and feel comfortable with. Chanel No. 19 is maybe too 'butch' (too green) for me. *LOL*

nah stocks here are either wiped out clean or spotty. like not all department stores will carry habit rouge then some will have l'instant other will not. i'd rather wait to get to hk to test the guerlains.

i think no.19 is something i would like. also i know i said i don't feel chanel no.5 is for me but no.5 eau premiere interests me.

Chanel - Cristalle
Guerlain - Sous le Vent
Chanel:
From the Women's Section...No. 5
From the Men's Section...Allure Sport and Edition Blanche. I find them to be unisex.

Guerlain: Mitsouko, and the Aqua Allegoria Line is supposed to be unisex as well
post #30 of 37
All good suggestions and a big ++ for Sous le Vent from me, and also Philtre d'Amour if you can find it (recently dropped from the line).

For me: Chanel nº 19 EDP and Chamade... some will discuss Chamade, but I love it and it relaxes me, it's calming.
Other obvious choice would be shalimar or l'heure bleue
