It looks like Grant has temporarily disabled the PM notification. Am I the only one not receiving anything from subscribed threads?

I have been patient with this slow server problem which is still a problem, but now my post count is wrong!!! It says 961 when it should be nearly 1100!! Some one needs to fix this!

With all due respect, is the post count that much important?
I only wish we can browse under normal conditions, that's all.
Edit:
It's already better as we speak.

Still slow today. Odd, in that it does not seem to have to do with the actual number of people using the site at any particular time, so I suspect it has to do with the ever-growing amount of data that accumulates on the site as time goes by ?

I'm no computer expert, so just guessing.

Not only is it slow here, but I now have the problem of the Male Frag Discussion page being completely static, not updating with new posts. Only been for about two hours, but quite frustrating on top of the aforementioned speed and stability issues.
It's been ranging from slow to very very very slow here. Not getting instant notifications either.
I haven't been able to access the Fragrance Directory at all today.

Funnily enough, it's running as smooth as butter all of a sudden. We'll see how long this lasts...

Probably will be short-lived.

Looks like things are better at this minute . . . for the first time in about a week I posted a reply that appeared immediately . . . no problems. Thanks.

Praise the fragrance community Gods!

Back to agonizingly slow loading and frequent down times, for me.
Very slow here, too.... hopefully we don't experience a database error.

Same here, & l am getting database errors.

I notice we are getting a lot of spam the past few days, more than usual I think.

Without a doubt - I have reported quite a number of them recently.
Yes, I always report them too.
Me too!
Wish they'd go away.
I use tapatalk to access BN and the increase in spam is very noticeable when I go to "latest posts" (which is what I usually do), and very annoying.
On and off lagging connections today and annoying spam as others have said.
This is the first time that I've been able to connect in over a day. Database errors.

Clearly there is no one who properly maintains the site. Databases require a certain level of maintenance which is apparantly lacking. If any computer programs or web sites I had ever created worked anything like this, I would have had to find a new line of work long ago...

Well, considering it's free to anyone with an internet connection, I think we should remember that before complaining!

I'm sure that the problems are being addressed, but the spammers are not helping the overload.

When it's slow, I either wait, if trying to post, or go somewhere else for a bit.

Some sites are faster, but B/N has much more depth!

I think it's pretty funny that this thread was started in '08 ...but I suppose it doesn't hurt anything to keep reporting, rationalizing, and hoping.
Well, the spammers appeared to be less in evidence today!
My opinion is that we should thank Grant for providing such a valuable resource free of charge.
Can't be easy.
