Stupid question about discontinuation

Thread Starter
As background: I'm into commitment with fragrances. I don't have a wardrobe of different scents, I have one for work (maybe one for weekend) and one for evening/special occasion. I do the layering thing-body wash, lotion, then fragrance. I'm kinda OCD about the layering thing.

I have just recently been introduced to and fallen in love with Dior Addict. For evening/special occasion, obviously. While the shower gel still appears on dior.com, I am having a devil of a time acquiring it in real life. I finally got a bottle off eBay after two other attempted purchases resulted in refunds for unavailability.

So here's my question: If a product is still featured on the manufacturer's website, it still exists...right? I mean, regardless of industry, companies don't keep discontinued products on their websites, you know?

I have a second question, come to think of it. Does discontinuation of a fragrance's associated products (shower gels, body creams, etc) tend to foreshadow discontinuation of the frag itself?

Thank you kindly for sharing any insights you may have!!

Most of the time this is true. Sometimes companies are slow in updating their current offerings.

Usually yes but sometimes they're slow to update the sight as hednic said. Companies also discontinue fragrances in some countries/regions but not others.

Not necessarily. Sometimes they're seasonal and just offered in Xmas/Mothers Day/Fathers Day packs.
