What else smells like One Million?

Ever since I moved to London, everywhere I go I seem to smell men wearing a nasty scent with massive sillage and projection - and it reminds me a lot of One Million by Paco Rabanne. But worse than I ever thought that smelled. (It happened 3 times today. The other day in the cinema I had to move because it was so obnoxiously overpowering and must have had a 10 metre radius!)

Now I own a bottle of one million, (though I didn't bring it with me) and I always liked it, never *thought* it was too strong or obnoxious while I was wearing it.

My question is there something else really common, like maybe a body spray, that smells similar, and that I could be mistaking for one million?

Or is this scent really ubiquitous and repellent?

What smells of 1 Million? Every teenage chav in the land!

Some people no doubt will feel this way. I kind of like it also, but am at a loss to suggest something similar.

spray your 1million 15 times on a pillow, put it in a room you don't use. come back after a while. compare.

...bubblegum?

The new Antonio Banderas scent, The Secret, is very similar to 1 Million.

Axe Excite. Not kidding.
To me, Ted Lapidus Black Soul is a better, more refined One Million.
Carlos Santana for Men and John Varvatos. Not kidding. Oh, and they smell better, too.
+1 Carlos Santana. Doesn't last as long, but for the price you could buy 4 bottles.

Could possibly be the new Gucci Guilty for men. It reminds me a bit of One Million, but doesn't particularly strike me as offensive. Just boring.

Yes, it's either this (Lynx Excite as it's known if you're in London)... or it's someone that's been using Lynx for years, got used to emptying half a can a day on themselves... and have just bought 1 Million or Only the Brave

Fragbombing seems to be common in the UK. Honestly, I've seen guys in department stores here go up to the Le Male tester bottle and dump 10 sprays on themselves, then their girlfriends nuzzle in and say "very nice". I'm always surprised that these women don't start choking...

IMO Curve For Men is a bit similar to 1 Million...

I am in London on visit too and noticed the exact same thing. Random wafts of 1 Million everywhere, people love this stuff here. I enjoy the scent but will stick to wearing it in Canada where its a bit more below the radar.

Wow! I didn't think anyone else would notice the similarities between these two. Difference is though, ANs isn't anywhere near as sweet as OM. It's more "clean" in an almost chlorine pool water way, while One Million is more candy sweet.

I smelled the Lynx, it might be that but it was hard to say for sure. I like the term fragbombed.

Do you think if I ask these guys what they are wearing it will encourage them? I'm way too polite to ever tell anyone they've overdone it. And to be honest, I'd spray myself with 10 of one million without thinking anything of it

The core reason for this thread is to allay my fears that I myself have been guilty of fragbombing, and everyone around me just choked politely into their hankies and never said a word

oh i'm glad someone else has been noticing it too!

When I was working at boots, every chav would come in and spray a TON of Le Male or 1 Million on themselves. 1 Million is horrendous, thankfully we ran out of testers midway through the christmas season so I didn't have to put up with it for too long. It was mainly Le Male or Joop! for the rest of the season

I think some people thought Antidote by Viktor and Rolf smelled similar to 1 Million?

I once watched a guy douse himself in 2 sprays of what was easily 20 different frags. I was in awe.
an apocalyptic mix of bubblegum and other toxic gourmand ingredients!
Nothing, that's what makes 1 Million so special.
Another vote for Ted Lapidus' Black Soul. And maybe John Varvatos too.

I'm holding onto my bottle until 'they' move onto something else. I sense it'll be Spicebomb which they'll move to. In which case, I'll have to put SB on the sidelines
post #32 of 58
PI by Givenchy is just as gross.
I was out in a club last night, must have smelled 1 Million on eight different people, very, very strong from a big distance. Acqua di Gio was a big presence in there too. I really would advise people to stop buying 1 Million if you live in the UK, every man and his dog is wearing it at the moment.
Many SAs push One Million like mindless zombies at lots of fragrance shops, so it probably is a huge bestseller. I wouldn't be surprised if indeed everytime you thought you were smelling One Million, you actually were smelling it.

Antonio Banderas The Secret
Antonio Banderas The Golden Secret
Ted Lapidus Black Soul
Mercifully not much.

Spicebomb has a bubblegum vibe like 1 Million, but it's a different bubble gum. Whereas 1 Million smells like pink, fruity gumball machine bubble gum, Spicebomb is a little more like Big League Chew.

Closest thing to that was witnessing a guy do 15 sprays of Kouros at a Boots store in the UK. At first I stood in awe...and then I ran.

Fact - women LOVE 1 Million.

I was having a discussion with one girl who was wondering what the hell it was in 1 Million that had that effect on her (I couldn't advise on what the mystery note).

Treat it with disdain if you wish, but it may be your loss.
You would be leaving a lot of firepower out of your arsenal (I'm married, so it doesn't worry me).

Renato

St Dupont Passenger & Bijan B Exquisite. B Exquisite is actually gonna be one of my next purchases, I find it to be a more tamed and more refined version of 1 Million, there's a leather note in there that goes well with the sweet and spicy notes.

I also agree with Banderas The Secret. It opens up very much like 1 Million, but as it dries, it has this odd mossy/leather accord that is just kinda ugly, beware of it.

6+ month thread bump, I know...

A lot of disdain being thrown around here. Maybe I'd feel the same way if I'd smelled it on everybody around me, but I live in a small town and NOBODY around here knows what in the world the fragrance "One Million" is. Loving it.

Rasasi Attar Al Mohabba is something like the perfect love child of One Million & Original Santal.
Passion Man - Franck Olivier. A cinnamon bomb, with green apple and pink pepper adding some allure and making it better than One Million, IMO.
The real title of this thread should be What Doesn't Smell Like 1 Million. It seems every scent coming out is compared to 1 Million.
Spicebomb (very similar, just a little spicier and a bit of tea mixed in)
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris Homme (I get a very similar vibe from this, only a bit less "in your face")
Nothing wrong with one million. It is one of the worlds top selling fragrances. It has become a victim of its own fame. Europeans like Americans, continue to purchase this fragrance at well above average rates.

Carolina Herrera 212 VIP
Spicebomb

Cuba Royal smells like 1 Millions top notes, but that's all you get. It doesn't progress to the base, but simply stays linear for a couple of hours and dies away.
Try 1 Million's better blended pure parfum version, Absolutely Gold.
Everytime I wear Rasasi Maa Arwak, people ask me whether I'm wearing one million by paco rabanne.
Givenchy Pi smells like One Million's refined uncle. Surprisingly enough, when my counter was out of Pi I had a lot of those looking for Pi buy One Million. It's not terrible juice, but if you have just smelled it on a card right out of the bottle I can see why you hate it. This is one that I have to spray the air and bring the blotter card thru the mist. It makes a big difference. Like others have said it seems to be well received by those around you when you're wearing it. It's a club/ look at me type of scent. And there isn't anything wrong with that.
I rarely smell one million in Los Angeles...Downtown area. But I do smell Armani Boring Code all the time.

THIS. Its sweetness is like a jackhammer to my nose. 1 Million is a huge hit with teens and early 20s, not that it's limited to that group, but the presentation alone speaks to who the targeted customers are.

Young tastes trend very sweet, and 1 Million is a bona-fide hit. See also: Guilty, with a bottle shaped like a flask (though more tastefully done, IMHO, than 1 Million's cheesy gold brick).

There's a lot to like with 1 Million, but I can't handle that much sweetness (nor the presentation).
Interesting though is that in Europe, many gentlemen over 50 are fond of One Million. Prior to becoming available in the USA, men of all ages throughout Europe were enjoying the fragrance and continue to do so.
AB Millionaire By Lomani. Smells just like Millionaire.
in England whats famous for a replacement is the even cheaper Marks and Spencer HOMME - monster sillage - i find Carolina Herrera 212 VIP MEN also somewhat similar, if not louder than 1 Million.
