I don't have any Jubilation XXV to wear, but I am jubilating all the same with Portrait of a Lady.

I was living in DC with my family at the time -- I still remember that morning running down Massachusetts Avenue into downtown, no metro or taxis running and the streets totally deserted, with the intention of trying to find my father who was working one block from the White House at the time, which according to CNN could be hit any moment. Scary day!

Good thinking - I went with Jubilation XXV after reading this.

I went with American Beauty - feelin' the patriotism!

Although, to be clear, this is a victory for all peace-loving nations across the globe.

Dang! Had I seen this earlier this morning, I would've thrown on the drop or two that I have left of this (sample). Today I went with Lancome Hypnose...

Absolutely. I started the thread, and I'm English! Every civilised person across the world should celebrate tonight. They actually killed more muslims than anything else during his time as the head of the snake. One of the most evil men of our time.

I feel sombre about it.

I feel sombre about it too.

The images of people across the USA celebrating will just further blacken the hearts of remaining dissidents.

America may once again find itself wearing the scent of c4, jet fuel, ash and bone.

That was rather uncalled for, I feel.

I wore PdN New York today.

9/11 and the days that followed in 2001 were awful, shocking, traumatic, very very sad. My husband and I lived in NY at the time. I remember it as if it were yesterday. It will always be with me. That is why I feel somber about it.

Terrorism will always exist, no matter how people in the west act. Always has, always will. We shouldn't change anything we do in any way because of terrorism. That's letting them win. Here in the UK, we've been facing the threat of terrorism for many decades in one form or another (sometimes with the financial backing of American citizens who wanted to "help the old country" I've seen those baskets being passed around in Irish pubs) and we've learned to just go about our lives without giving pieces of crap like this a second thought. As long as you don't live in fear, freedom wins. Go about your business as if these mother effers don't exist, and the bad guys lose.

Pretty soon after the London bombings, al-Zawahiri appeared in a video talking about how the people of the UK had been shaken and were cowering with fear, which was utterly laughable. Nobody was. We cleared up, mourned our losses, and then got back to everyday life and traveling into work on public transport no problem. We handled it in what you might call a very British way. Their aim is to spread fear and panic. Don't let them, and they're just a bunch of brainwashed kids killing themselves for nothing.

Although I don't think you would have seen pictures like that in the UK had Bin Laden killed nearly 3,000 Brits on British soil (we're just not built that way), I think the American people were fully entitled to let off steam in such a way. Good for them.
