What should I pick from Montale?

Hi guys, I'm about to place order for a couple fragrances from Montale

50 ml - Sweet Oriental Dream

50 ml - What should I get.
I'm thinking about Mango Manga but I also want a rose fragrance in the same concept of Serge Lutens' Sa Majeste la Rose (this one smell nice on others but turns sweaty and salty and urine-y on my skin). I do not enjoy the smell of Aoud (Black Aoud and Aoud Rose Petals smell basically the same to my nose - all I can smell is Aoud). So which one do you think I sould go with.

20ml (complementary) - Ta'if Rose or Patchouli Leaves?

I've already had

Montale Chocolate Greedy
Montale Jasmine Full
Montale Aoud Collection - Red Aoud
Montale Full Incense
Montale Attar (small sample but might be enough for me)

Btw, I'm a guy but I'm comfortable with wearing floral (see the Jasmin Full above ) and I'm desperately in need of true rose scent. The ones I've encountered so far either the rose is candy/fruity sweet or totally damaged by the spices. Serge Lutens' Sa Majeste la Rose is considered wearable for me when I smell it on paper but as mention above, it doesn't like my skin

How about Roses Musk or Roses Elixir for the 2nd bottle of 50 ml you are thinking of getting ?
Re. the complimentary 20 mls- Patchouli Leaves is a never ending Patchouli festival . So knowing me, I would go for Ta'if Rose.

( Highness Rose is gorgeous rose and nothing else but really 'up' there in price if you're buying straight from Paris. )

My personal favorite is Patchouli Leaves.

I love Patchouli Leaves, but for rose, I'd go with the Ta'if or the Highness Rose.

Roses Musk - "rose with leaves" definition that I've read here and there sounds tempting however can you comment more about the musk, I'm really scared of the musk used in niche fragrances because most of the time it will be animalic and dirty but I do not want any of those dirtiness and animalicness in any of my fragrances.

l believe l was one of those who described Roses Musk as "roses with the leaves on". lt's a lovely "masculine" rose, but not at all animalic or dirty to my nose; it's quite a clean musk.
l highly recommend Crystal Flowers for a true, linear rose scent.
lf you hate candy-sweet, steer clear of Roses Elixir, it has strong overtones of strawberry jam!

I dont have a opinion on a dominat rose, but, for the mini, if you want trully patchouli, patchouli leaves, no more, no less

Thanks for the suggestions guys I've narrowed my list to the following but still kinda debating

50 ml - Sweet Oriental Dream

50 ml - Roses Musk or Crystal Flowers?

I've read that these 2 fragrances have the tendency to go sour on some people and my skin doesn't do sour too well. Therefore which one is sweeter (but strictly floral sweet, not fruity or candy like the rose in Rose Ikebana or Rose from Czech & Speak).

I've also read that there is a urine note in Roses Musk?

So which one do you think I should go with.

20ml (complementary) - Ta'if Rose or Mango Manga?

I've left out the Patchouli Leaves because if it's pure patchouli then it is not for me. I think I'll keep the patchouli fix for Borneo 1834 or Coromandel when my samples arrive (because of the chocolate in them). I'm not that big of a fan of Patchouli anyway

The "overtones of strawberry jam" of Roses Elixir sounds tempting also but I think I'll get my floral fix first

I suggest you take Deep Rose, I have that one and its a really amazing rose scent. Its not sweet, not powdery, but a fresh dark red rose.

Mango Manga is too sour for me. Last time I took that one and it was a mistake

Roses Elixir is too similar to very irresistible givenchy.. dont go there if you really musn't

As much as I love Montale perfumes, you must also try Jo Malone's Red Roses Cologne if you are looking for something similar to Sa Majesté la Rose. Off topic, sorry to hear about your experience with Sa Majesté la Rose. I have worn it a few times and it is like being surrounded by fresh roses all day.

Montale Blue Amber is one of best amber scents I have worn. Amber framed in patchouli, spice and a splash of vanilla.

I thought Sa Majesté la Rose would be good on me too. When I sniff up close, it smells spicy - sort of Luten-esque but the scent trail is horrible. I blame the civet for this.

I've tried Blue Amber and it is a little too simple for my liking

Musk to Musk
Aoud Flowers

My personal favorites are Black Aoud, Oriental Flowers, Red Aoud, and Aoud Queen Roses. The latter being a deep, dusky, musky rose.

Roses Musk is not a musk at all but a really AOUDY rose. It's wonderful, if you enjoy that bitter effect. For me, it's like tonic water for the nose.

I adore Roses Elixir. For me, it's quite similar to Miss Dior Cherie, but better.

My favorite Aoud is White Aoud, which is quite perfumey and aromatic. For me, it does just what I want Aoud to do.

I like both Aoud Queen Roses and Aoud Rose Petals as natural deep roses, Queen is the sweeter of the two.

Crystal Flowers is lovely but nondescript IMO; you might like Chypre Fruite in that vein.

I personally adore the tartness of MangoManga; it's a fresh, sweet fruity that is not at all cheap.
