Is Someone Burning Leaves?

O.K., I admit it, this is my first and definitely my last blind buy. I don't blind buy by the way. I just purchased CB I Hate Perfume - Burning Leaves. Burning leaves is probably my most favorite smell. I wait all year long to for the fall to arrive with this unbelievable scent that fills the air. Many great memories associated with this smell. So, I couldn't resist. I can't wait to try this out.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this fragrance by CB I Hate Perfume?

My sister bought it when Christopher had his line at Bergdorf Goodman's in NYC. He was there & she struck up an conversation with him. After she explained that she was a Lt. in the Fire/Rescue Squad for Jacksonville, Fl, he asked her to smell Burning Leaves and tell him what she thought of it. She did. It really does smell exactly like burning leaves but there's a sweetness under it that my sister smelled: baked ham. Christopher just smiled when she said that but didn't correct her.

The firefighters she works with get a big kick out of my sisters' "perfume". They are, for the most part, good ole Florida boys. They can't understand buying a fancy perfume when you could just do your job and smell the same way: smokey burning leaves. No ham though unless one of the guys is having a pig roast. (Which they have done.) Cindy takes a lot of grief over this one.

Didn't like it at all when I tried it.

I like it. I enjoy spraying one side of me with Burning Leaves and the other with Gathering Apples for contrast. They work well together.

That baked ham reference might come from the fact that CB, if I recall, used maple leaves in the fragrance. I recall picking up on a maple note when i smelled this a year or so ago.

Yeah, there is a distinct maple note there. I like it, but like many of that line, I don't find a lot of occasions to dig out my decant...

One of his best. Like the beck, I agree that it's wonderful layered with his apple scent, another one of his best.

CB does good smoke scents. When I was at his shop recently, I smelled all of his smoke accords and they are all fantastic.

I should be getting this tomorrow. Our weather in Chicago has been cool and very un-May like. The scent of burning leave may cause others to think the calendar has really rolled back. Thanks for your input so far, this was helpful.

Does CB I Hate Perfume have a Mac and Cheese fragrance? That might be an interesting combination.

Got my first official blind buy, Burning Leaves. Not sure what to think. I seem to get more of a baked ham reference as mentioned by MikeNY and less of the burning leaves as expected. I'm a bit of a burning leaves snob and this needs a little work to truly convince me. I'll try a full wear but not sure that I'll change my mind. I guess this might go on my swap list if it doesn't work out.

It's funny how our minds and our olfactory reference points are so integral in enjoying (or not enjoying) a fragrance.

My advice Flaconneur: If it ends up not working for you, after your full wearing, put it away for a couple of months and revisit it later on in the Fall/Winter. It might lose some of those olfactory associations, over time. Stranger things have happened.

You might be right mikeperez23. I'll probably take your advise and revisit this in the Fall/Winter.

I found his new Burnt Wood Premium Accord to be preferable in every way. It's not as harsh as Burning Leaves and is truly heavenly.

I've got a little decant of this one... I wanted a smokey woody scent. I find BL interesting but not something I'd really wear often. I find it actually a little 'sticky' if that makes sense, like a tad too sweet when I would have prefered dry. Still, give it at least a few wearings to see how it goes and try to forget the word ham.

I got a sample a while back for the hell of it. It does smell like burning leaves. I couldn't figure out whether I really wanted to wear it, still don't know ...
