Fragrance that smells the most like clove clove cigarettes

I put this thread in the men's fragrance section but am open to female or male scents. Any suggestions for the fragrance that smells the most like clove cigarettes? I want something DARK. Truly dark and spicy. Upon first sniff I was excited about Creed Epicea, but found the citrus note totally overpowered it, not to mention I have issues with Creed's longevity. I am not looking for a citrus clove- I am talking straight up spicy, Djarum clove cigarettes. Think night time in New Orleans or a brothel somewhere... Maybe something some goth kids in the 80's would wear... Thoughts?

If you are looking at Creed then I will assume some niche recommendations are okay.

Noir Epices (Editions de Parfum Frederic Malle) & Idole (Lubin) both take me straight to Java in a pretty visceral way, not just the scent connection but also the heat, the foliage etc. so these would be my two 'impressionistic' recommendations. Idole probably darker, with a boozy rum accord involved.

If you want something more literal I am sure others will come along

Jacomo de Jacomo (1980) is what your imagery calls to mind for me; a clove bomb, dark, smoky and ashen. Check out the reviews, it's excellent stuff. Can be found inexpensively online.

Paper Moon, I have myself smoked the Djarums, even the real (non-regulated) stuff straight from Indonesia and when I sampled Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille the first time about a year ago, kreteks were the first thing that came to my mind. Go figure, if it does the same for you!

CdG Red Series: Carnation - Tabac Original (another choice) on steroids.

in a strange way, Serge Noire. i also agree with Eau Lente recommendation. it's straight up..

Well, this is decidedly NOT an '80's goth kid' fragrance, but the last time I wore West Indies Bay St John's Bay Rum, my wife asked me if I had smoked a clove cigarette.

Michelsen's Bay Rum Caswell Massey

Well, the discontinued Kretek by Ava Luxe sounds like what you're looking for, but it's extremely hard to find these days.

I sort of agree with jenson, Serge Noire by Serge Lutens comes very close. Less clovey, more burnt cardamom/ash/incense.

Thanks for the tips everyone, these all sound interesting and worth checking out. Tabacco Vanille is only okay for me... not the deep spicy clove I am looking for.

Dragon, Jacomo de Jacomo sounds awesome!! Thank you for the tip, I definitely have to check this out!! My only concern is one reviewers assertion that it is "like making out with Paul Bunyun or the Brawny Paper Towel Guy.". Hmmmmm.....

I like l'Anarchiste, but I think this one has more oranges and cedar and much less "darkness" than the OP is looking for.

I'm not sure this one has a clove note. I recall more camphor and pine tar, but it's been a while since I went through my sample.

Serge Noire is the one that came to my mind.

+1 on the bay rum suggestions. I also suggest Rive Gauche pour homme.

A friend of mine always wears Obsession for Men.
At some point this fragrance reminds me of clove cigarettes.
At some other point it reminds me of "speculaas".

Kretek.

It's a little lacking in the cigarettes but I think you would find L'eau by Diptyque worth a try

kretek... isn't that nice a fragrance somehow ... it seemed to me when I got some and then sold it... so if it's any consolation for this nose it was kind of a bust even if there was a deliberate and most definite clove ciggie thing going on

my favorite clove fragrance is Caron Poivre which is really hard to get at a non extreme price and also it dries down to a creamy carnation. all the same it's ... extraordinary and might be something you oughtta keep a nose out for

Could you clarify this? I have no idea what you are trying to convey. Thanks.

Alt-Innsbruck perhaps?

CDG White might be worth a try. Clove and other spices, plus a little incense over wood. Possibly not dark enough for you though.

Ava Luxe Kretek - it's a clove cigarette in a perfume.

I am intrigued by Kretek-must find!

@ Dragon- THANK YOU for the tip! I managed to pick up a 3.4 oz bottle for $20 at the local discount perfume shop. Major score!! This stuff is dark and awesome. Totally capturing the 80's goth thing so much so it makes me laugh out loud! Someone get me my black eye liner, some fingerless gloves, and The Cure, stat!!!

Nice!! I am very happy to hear this. It really is a fantastic fragrance, and a steal at $20! Makes me want to throw on my Bauhaus t-shirt and crank the Joy Division

Hot Couture By Givenchy - This perfume is absolutely amazing. I know you just wrote that you already picked something up but if you are ever out and see this one smell it and you will fall in love.

I can testify that Jacomo de Jacomo is a clove bomb. I received a bottle by mistake when I ordered Jacomo Rouge the other week. I was going to send it back but didn't have time so I left the box in the car at work. (Not a good idea when it was 95F degrees and the bottle was shrink wrapped in the box & in bubblewrap). Needless to say, it burst from the heat and being wrapped up, so my car wreaked of medicinal smoky cloves for a few days. (luckily it didn't spill out onto the car though. Just in the box).

But yeah, it's strong and loaded with that medicinal clove type smell and a smoky base. Not personally for me (and worlds apart from the Jacomo Rouge I ordered), but if you're looking for a clove based fragrance, this is it. After my ordeal, I hope to never smell this one again

Ava Luxe KRETEK!

I rarely say this, but I feel safe in saying you can blind buy this: it's exactly what you're wanting. It's a mega dose of clove with tobacco; nothing more, nothing less.
