Hey all. I live in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles and here in the canyons there are scores of California bay laurels that bloom a few times a year with a wonderful, intensely sweet and clean scent halfway between jasmine and Jolly Ranchers hard candy.
I've never come across an absolute made from this blossom, but I would love to procure some. Anyone seen it? Regardless, if you've smelled these trees in bloom, chime in with your experiences.
