Etat Libre D'orange - which one is worthy of a full bottle?

I have the sample set and I'm meant to be picking one for a full bottle. So far none interest me, but I don't want to miss my chance. I'll kick myself if I later realise that one of the 23 was amazing but I just didn't recognise it.

What do others think? Do you own, or want to own, full bottles of any of these scents?



P.S I actually wore secretions magnifique (the blood and cum theme) on my wrist. I thought I'd be able to tolerate it but I just felt queasy. Incense et Bubblegum is also unpleasant. (and I *really* dont recommend wearing the two in tandem)

I tried Antiheroes, not worn it fully yet but was very wearable.

I purchased full bottles of both of those

Of the handful I've sampled, the only one I found worthy of purchasing a full bottle was Tom of Finland.

I've also sampled my way through the Etats, and they are not as fun or interesting as their wacky names suggest. To me at least. The only bottle I have is Like This, a very un-ELDO scent, sort of their we-are-going-commercial scent and if you really really like ginger, this is the one for you.

ELdO makes great fragrances based on classic structures but with modern updates and novel twists at reasonable prices. It's worth sampling the whole line (and it's the one niche line from which I have more then a few bottles). I have several ELdOs including:

Chargone (floral/leather)
Tom of Finland (aldehydic leather)
Nombril Immense (patchouli)
Fat Electrician (vetiver vanilla)
Noel Au Balcon (gourmand/floral)
Like This (immortelle floriental)
Jasmine et Cigarette (jasmine/tobacco)
Je Suis en Homme (masculine citrus/cologne)
Rossy de Palma (rose/pomegranate)
Vraie Blond (aldehydic peach)

plus I have large decants of several more, including Rien, Encens et Bubblegum, and Divine Enfant.

Wow, Nine, that's most of the line!

The line is so diverse, as you can see, but I have both Delicious Closet Queen (fruit/vetiver/floral) and Jasmin et Cigarette.

They like to make much (giggling) of their soixante-neuf (69) address in the rue des Archives, so why didn't they keep their US prices at $69.00 a bottle? Now the pirce is $80.

Like This is not only their best offering, it is probably the best ginger orientated fragrance available (IMHO).
Fat Electrician is also extremely bottleworthy.

wow, guess I liked different ones from the line.

Praise of a Traitor is maybe a little sharp, but it's a very 80's strong spicey woody one.
I really enjoyed Rien as well. Hotel slut is growing on me but not FBW imo.

I have only tried Tom of Finland so far. Not groundbreaking but very competent. I think the entire ELDO line is worth exploring.

Wow this is really impressive! I will pay special attention to this. I am beginning to notice that I'm not attracted to floral notes, I think this is what's making it hard. I like them but not on me.

Did You notice the sweetness in the drydown? Wasn't it the smell of tar soap right from the start? The more I own from this firm, the less I like to swap one of their frags against anything else! These are so easy to get, like a comic maybe. Hard edges, uniform color fields, pathetic emotions ...

This is my first venture into ELDO and whenever a house has so many offerings I'm intimidated since I don't know where to start, a similar concern prevents me from trying any Diptyque. As far as Tom of Finland I'm noticing a soapy vanilla opening and a very leathery drydown.

Like This is my favorite of the line. I own Vierges et Toreros - it has enough civet, costus and castoreum in the base to make the tuberose and pepper top smell like the balcony of an old X-rated theater. I liked the audacity/humor/subversive attitude of this house, but like so many others, I don't feel compelled to own many of their offerings.

I have tried all of the ones who's notes sounded like they would interest me. For what it's worth, here are the notes I kept on each. Fair warning: I still SUCK at picking out specific notes, so my notes will sound like a second grader. However, they are helpful to me. Generally speaking, I LOVE the gimmickyness. A sucker was born every minute. LOL My rating system is 1=worst, and 5=best

Antiheroes: Key lime pie, pine sap: scent=3; longevity=3...in my "NK" column, which means I don't think I'll ever buy it, but you NEVER KNOW.

Delicious Closet Queen: sweet, woody: scent=3; longevity=3...in my "RV" column, which means it may eventually make my wishlist, so I'll ReVISIT it later.

Don't Get Me Wrong, Baby, I Don't Swallow: rotten tomatoes, decayed flowers, feminine: scent=3; longevity=3...in my "RV" column.

Eloge du Traitre: sickly sharpened pencils, drydown resiny: scent=4; longevity=3...in my "WL" column, which means WISHLIST.

Jasmin et Cigarette: jasmin and cigarette, of course, musky, dirty, like MR or MKK: scent=5; longevity=4...BOUGHT IT!

Je Suis un Homme: opening lemony, sharp, like eau dhermes, sharp, green, smoky: scent=4; longevity=3...in my "RV" column.

Nombril Immense: vinegary, drydown powdery: scent=3; longevity=3...in my "NK" column.

Putain des Palaces: sickeningly sweet, like loukhoum, something foul, too, decayed roses: scent=4; longevity=4...in my "WL" column.

Rien: melting plastic, sharply floral, dries down incense, not good opening, but dries down beautifully: scent=4; longevity=5...BOUGHT IT!

Secretions Magnifiques: wet dog, semen, open wound after bleeding. ugh: scent=2; longevity=5...in my "LN" column, which means "Lord, no!"

Vierges et Toreros: sweet, menthol, resiny: scent=3; longevity=3...in my "RV" column.

Vierges et Toreros is in my top 5. So is Tom of Finland which I can wear anywhere, anytime. These two are the most avant garde leathers I've ever tried, nothing like them. If you want leather that doesn't remind you of the great classics in the genre, get these. Otherwise, get Rien.
Like This is superb and I ind many similarities with Fat Electrician. For me it's like they share the same powdery luxurious base, only one is with ginger and some other spices and the other one with vetiver. This base is in fact something I sense in other ELdOs in a similar amount which makes it boring from one moment. Namely, I recall Bendelirious, the above mentioned Rien, Putain des Palaces, Delicious Closet Queen (don't remember well about the latter). Not worthy to have full bottles of ALL of these.
Je suis un Homme is a highy original homage to the classic eau de cologne.
Eloge du Traitre is basically Yatagan which is not bad if you don't know it.
