HDP Amber 114 or MPG Ambre Precieux?

I have tried both and cant believe how similar they seem?
Which do you prefer?
Anyone else think the are very similar??

I don't think they smell similar. I prefer HdP's Amber 114. You can't go wrong with this amazing and different amber. I find MPG Ambre Precieux drydown is nothing special.

they are both indeed very similar....ambre precieux is like an intense version of ambre 114. I have AP and thinking of getting Ambre 114 as well. Honestly, I would choose Ambre 114 over AP.

Not similar, Ambre 114 has herbal elements that remind me of Ambre Sultan (although it has a way better drydown).

I think Ambre Precieux is the better scent by far, in fact I think it's one of the best amber scents period.

My feelings, although I don't feel so strongly in favor of Ambre Precieux, as both are fantastic, but yes, Ambre Precieux (and Ambre Sultan) will definitely stay in my collection as THE amber fragrance.

Both a very good. Select the one that appeals more to you. Or try Versilia Vintage Ambra Mediterenea by Profumi del Forte.
Slightly better than these two IMO.

HDP's has been on my wish list for a while because I love my sample but it's good to hear the divisive opinions because it could sure save a buck. I think I'll just stick with my Ambre Precieux.

I just had 100ml of Ambre Precieux. If you like your amber to be straight ahead and slightly spiced you've found your holy grail.

Bringing this back because I ran into the same exact dilemma today. I was looking for an amber and narrowed it down to these two. Right off the bat the AP was in the lead off the top but as people have mentioned here the 114 does seem to have a bit better dry down. I really like them both and would probably be equally as happy with either. As for price the AP can be found for about $30 cheaper but id like to know if anyone has any other differences to mention perhaps related to longevity, projection or even versatility?????

They are both excellent ambers, but I prefer Ambre Precieux. You can't go wrong with either one. There are also several other great ambers out there, but these two are indeed among the best.

I find 114 a little smoother, sweeter and rounder than AP. To me AP is a bit sharper and spicier. I like them both, but prefer 114.

Tough call as they're both excellent, but as Hedonist mentioned above Versilia Vintage Ambra Mediterenea by Profumi del Forte is something you should try first before making any decisions. It's almost like the best of both worlds (including Ambre Sultan).

I prefer Ambre 114. More intricate, better development and less linear. It's not my favourite amber though. AP is one of the few ambers I'm not a huge fan of. Too much vanilla for my liking. It smells more like an amber base than a stand alone fragrance. It is the better option though if your taste tends toward vanilla laden classics.

I agree that AP and A 114 are very similar (to the point of A 114 actually aping AP), and I strongly prefer the original and better AP. And in my view, the drydown of AP is gorgeous! Considering that the MPG was released over a decade before the HdP, I think A 114 is a repetition that essentially adds to the MPG masterpiece only some kind of weird lipstick note that I don't care for at all...

I think they both smell quite different actually!

Ambre Precieux is much sweeter with vanilla and a touch of powder, and very good longevity and sillage. When wearing it I feel like I'm radiating a bright golden glow!

Whereas, Ambre 114 is deeper, subtler and more resinous, with a hint of spices and rose (I think). When I'm wearing 114 I feel like I'm wearing a warm spiced cloak of scent. Complex, but closer to the skin.

For me... I find Ambre Precieux a bit too cloyingly sweet and feminine for me. Ambre 114 is currently my favourite amber, which fits perfectly in between Ambre Precieux and Ambre Sultan.
