Hey Ladies, I would like to know your opinion on YSL Kouros? Do you like the smell of Kouros? I'm just wondering because I just blind bought a bottle. I heard many positive and negative things about this men's fragrance, but I would like to hear what women think of this fragrance on their men? Thanks for the input.

I loooove it! Very seducive!

It smells like a long weekend in bed, so do I like it? Only if I like the man who's wearing it.

I have a mini -and I don't really like it all that much (on myself or to smell on my dad or brother) .I consider it to be semi-tolerable.I think I prefer more spice/orientals or citrus/vetivers or gourmands or aquatics. For the frankincense note I would prefer Tauer's Incense Extreme or CdG's Avignon.

Just to be clear, cupcake, I would NOT wear this on a first date! Nor when on the prowl, unless you are wholly undiscriminating and heedless of consequences. You can't just spring this sweaty-yet-sparkly mess on someone unawares; Kouros is for sharing—eventually. Give it—and her—time.

That said, I layer it with Shalimar, just for moi!

Bonne chance, Chance! I mean, Change! Plus que ça change...

r-S.O.-think-of-Kouros

Nymphaea said 2 years ago and said it better than I in that 1st thread, to wit:
Quote:
Kouros should be used as a close-to-the-body scent, and not as a sillage attractor. Its for men who already have someone to get close to: its intimate and evocative, but shouldnt be used as a come hither scent to attract anyone.

Echoing all that has been said. I love it, but a light hand is required. It's so sexual that it could read as impolite if you overdo it. In reasonable doses it's extremely heady and magnetic stuff.

I love it on Mr. Arwen. However, one of his co-workers hated it and he had to stop wearing it while working on a project at close quarters with that man.

Gorgeous ! Very seductive and manly stuff. Use lightly though .

I finally sampled Kouros last night.

I liked it well enough. I could enjoy smelling it on a guy provided he didn't overdo it. But it wasn't magic.

How did the purchase go?

I think it is one of the top scents created for men. It is a scent that embodies all that is fabulous in a masculine. Pure sexiness in a bottle, is there anything better.

other opinions?

It is a love or hate scent indeed, but I actually like it. I agree that it is not a first date scent to be worn. Something dirty & sexual on it, and a high level of self confidence needed to wear it properly, also not for all ages. I see it like a doubled-edge stuff. it can be glorious but also... a big disaster, it depends on the man who wears it... and the ladiesd around! (LOL)

maybe one of the most representative scent of masculinity... simply I love but sometimes I notice it in the 'wrong man'. It is not the perfume but the man who do not 'fit' on it...

If you like it, wear it. it is a good reason to do it!!!! isn't it???
yes it is.

but what do you exactly mean about "it must be worn by the right man"? what makes a man wrong or right for this perfume?

kind of skin (dry or not for example, black or white ecc ecc) ? age? what else?

p.s. imho the bad thing of this perfume is that is really difficoult to understand how much to put on...

p.s. I dont' t also understand the firts date thing... if I like a scent I always like it... don't you?
Not for a first date perfume, because I feel kouros such a very extreme scent. If I have not met the man before but I can smell his perfume, I may obtain a wrong idea about him... specially if I think it is not suitable for every men (IMO). Everyone can wear everything, no gender, no age when talking about perfumes, but, everyone have their own perception about smells and kind of people may fix on them... or not...
If I find Kouros to be worn by a 20-30 aged man I tend to think ... he is a wrong man for this perfect perfume...!!!!

I do like Kouros by itself, but I think it is a very hard perfume to be worn, so, not for everyone, and it is not a matter of skin or chemistry.

hope this helps!!!!

Lorna is spot on... Kouros should be worn by the type that fits the bill. Elderly, established, rugged and masculine MAN. A lot of youngsters are being misled into thinking they can pull this scent off. Is it a great scent? yes but if this question were asked outside of basenotes, you will find the majority of ladies will dislike it. Especially 18-30yr olds

The question was...'hey Ladies, do you like the smell of YSL Kouros ?'. I am a Lady, I reply. Which is the problem???

I do not lead or mislead to anyone. OK?. My opinion is that it is not a fragrance for anyone, does fit or not the bill.
I do not mind other ladies, joining or not BN, older or younger. It is ME who did intend to respond according to my opinion ...

I accept you disagree me but, please, let me think by myself and express my thoughts.

thanks!

EDIT
PradaG, I feel so sorry. I did not have a good day...
I apologize myself.

i disagree. i think kouros is great for young men. especially attractive ones, handsome and charming (what's attractive depends on who you ask anyway.)

it's just that this sort of thing isn't very in vogue with the young crowd. it was a hit with people who are 25 or so years older. thus it gets associated with people of that age. but to me, it's best suited for a young man in the prime of his life. not to say you have to stop wearing it when you hair line starts to recede. some people stay in the prime of their life till they reach true old age. just don't wear it when you feel tired and and have little sexual desire.

it is a scent that you have to know how/when to wear it.

as for attraction, women will only being attracted to you wearing kouros if they feel attracted to you anyway. you could compare it (metaphorically speaking) to whispering naughty things in her ear. most often, you'd have to win her first, to do that.

all that said; if you love kouros and you feel like wearing it, by all means do so. unless you apply too much, wear it to a funeral, etc, many ladies will think it smells good, too.

gido i can agree but i think it is not a good choise for young people (like a 20 years old) and expecially for who sweats a lot, or has oily skin...
