What is the best Tom ford private blend

Thread Starter
Hey folks I'n your opinion which is the best Tom ford private blend fragrance. After trying them all I would have to say tobacco vanille.
I vote Tuscan Leather. But I think Noir de Noir is also right up there.
+1 on TV
For me, Tobacco Vanille smells rich, but I really don't get tobacco out of it. I get more of a honey note.

That being said, in my opinion the best Private Blends are (in no order):

Amber Absolute
Azure Lime (doesn't get good feedback around here but I like it)
Italian Cypress
Neroli Portofino
Tuscan Leather

Noir de Noir, oud wood, tuscan leather and tobacco vanile is also nice
I might say Noir de noir if I have to choose one

Tobacco Vanille
Noir de Noir
Tuscan Leather
Oud Wood
Amber Absolute

I`ve only tried Tobacco Vanille, and it`s great! Wish I had a bottle! -Where can we buy online in Europe?

One that I don't feel is given enough recognition here on Basenotes, Bois Marocain. Woody, incensey and deeply evocative of my visits to Morocco. Very sophisticated, and the only scent that has ever blown me off my feet. Bois Marocain introduced me to the real world of fragrances.

Best: Tobacco Vanille
Worst: Azure Lime

Tobacco Vanille.
Amber Absolute.
Moss Breches.
Neroli Portofino.

I've only tried:

Tuscan Leather
Noir de Noir
Amber Absolute
Tobacco Vanille

Tobacco Vanille is my favorite. After that it's Neroli Portofino followed by Noir de Noir, Oud Wood, Tuscan Leather
post #18 of 49
Italian Cypress although i've never tried TV
post #19 of 49
Tuscan Leather, Tobacco Vanille, Japan Noir, Noir de Noir all enjoy joint first place for me. (Am I sitting on the fence or not?)!!

Try layering them - makes a brilliant combination.

My favorite is Italian Cypress, honorable mention to Tobacco Vanille. Now would I pay the retail price for them? Probably not.
NdN
T Leather
Oud Wood
Urban Musk
The funny part is that , the only one that I own is TV but I think the above mentioned is better.

Cmax...
The only ones I somewhat enjoy are Tobacco Vanille and Moss Breches. But for the price... no thanks.
I pretty much love the whole collection but TV and Noir De Noir are my favourites
post #29 of 49
I have only tried:
Tobacco Vanille
Noir de Noir
Tuscan Leather
My vote goes for Tobacco Vanille.
Oud Wood
Tobacco Vanille

Worth every penny.
My favorites are Moss Breches and Amber Absolute, but I've enjoyed Tobacco Vanille, Noir de Noir, and Japon Noir to some degree at various points. Urban Musk was nice, but it's just Bulgari Black Light, for far more money. Velvet Gardenia is the only fragrance I've ever wished for a ''light'' version of when it comes to florals, but it was... different, I'll give it that. I'm not surprised it kicked the bucket.

The rest were largely forgettable for me, though the first set of releases were agreeably dark compared to much of what was being released.

Italian Cypress is awesome. Tuscan Leather is a little strange.
How prominent is the tobacco note in TV compared to something like Back to Black?
I like several, but Tuscan Leather is the best.
Tuscan Leather
Tobacco Vanille
Noir de Noir
MOSS BRECHES!!!
Amber Absolute
Tobacco Vanille

Tobacco Vanille, followed by Oud Wood

TV's tobacco note is more prominent -- but it's smooth and really well blended with the vanilla note. BtB's tobacco note gets overpowered by its honey note in the middle stage, on my skin, which I'm not a fan of.
TV for with TL right on it's heels.

A lot of them are good.
For me: Tuscan Leather
Runner-up: Tobacco Vanille
The only one I haven't tried is Bois Marocain. I really enjoyed Italian Cypress, Amber Absolute, Noir de Noir and would buy bottles at the right price. However, my two favorites are the two that I currently own- Moss Breeches and Tobacco Vanille. If I was pushed to pick one, it would be TV.

Tuscan Leather and Japon Noir were the only two that I didn't enjoy.
The one you like the most lol.

I like:

Tuscan Leather
Purple - discontinued - Patchouli
Oud Wood

That's good to hear thanks. I wish the tobacco note in BtB was a bit more butch. Hoping TV will be the one!
Just my two cents, but for butch tobacco neither Tobacco Vanille nor Back To Black are good choices; it's just a difference between tobacco with syrup and tobacoo with powder, respectively.

I'd suggest something like Sonoma Scent Studio's Tabac Aurea - it's wonderfully non-sweet, and considerably more ''butch'' in style than these two. If you'd like tobacco and leather, check out Pascal Morababito's Or Black. If you like cloves, there's always Aramis Havana, and if you really, really like cloves, Ava Luxe's Kretek.

( Exeunt thread derailment. )
I love them all except Tuscan Leather; to dry and single note for my liking.
Noir de Noir and Amber Absolute are my favorites. I recently purchased Noir de Noir because I liked it so much.

Tobacco Vanille is very overrated in my opinion. I want tobacco, not syrupy sweet vanilla. Tuscan Leather is also great, but I'm not sure I will ever get around to purchasing it. Oud Wood is nice, but I would rather get my oud fix from other houses that specialize in it. As for Neroli Portofino and Azure Lime, I don't see myself ever spending that much money on a citrus fragrance. There are several others in the Private Blends that I have tried, but I need to test more. I discussed the ones I have a pretty strong opinion on.
on me ..........Tuscan Leather, Italian Cypress, Moss Breches.. oud wood also..
on my wife.....Noir de Noir
My favorite's are noir de noir, amber absolute and tobacco vanille. In that order
post #49 of 49
I have a bottle of TL, decants of Noir de Noir and Oud Wood. I really like Tobacco Vanille. Italian Cypress is wirth testing.

I like to layer TL and TV over Oud Wood.
