Show and Tell Time! (Reorganized Collection)

I haven't bought anything today but I didn't really share anything the other day when I bought Amber Ceruleen. (LOVE) Anyway, I decided to rearrange the bath and put all the perfume in the medicine cupboard instead of facial products in order to protect from light.

You can see the samples are in the middle in the MAC xmas tins and there is a couple bottles of foundation in there too. (Nowhere else to put it...) Now I'm going to have a problem when I get my order of Burberry Brit and as the collection grows. Where will I put more bottles? Hehe, terrible problem.

Here's the fragrance pr0n!

Great! I love seeing pics of people's collections. Yours looks so tidy and attractive. Mine is such in such disarray - in the bathroom linen closet - I'd be embarrassed to show anybody. Perhaps we should do "come as you are" pics. Am I the only disorganized person? :O Anyway, I love your MAC tins!

HAHA! Well you should see the disarray in the rest of my house! It's much easier to organize a small cupboard than the whole place. Plus having dogs and musicians coming and going in my house constantly makes it hard to keep up. Always seems I'm picking up scraps of dog toys and empty beer bottles.
Aww...well, at least there is one place you can go now where beauty and order prevail. I've been wanting a pefume cabinet. I've been fantasizing about getting a piece from a thrift shop to paint and refurbish into a perfume cabinet. Maybe...

Lilybelle,
The thrift store cabinet idea sounds good to me. Maybe I'll join you. Right now all my bottles, still in boxes, are in my closet away from the light, but they really deserve their own place.

Katk,
Love the photo. Thanks for sharing. They all look so beautiful in their own spot.

I've been trying to find a space in my room for a makeup vanity for a while. My makeup collection is HUGE compared to the perfume. Perfume is more of a subset of the makeup collection that is now taking off on its own journey. But I really want a place to sit and have girl time, not have to stand.

Perfume? Organizing? [Jumps up in the air like a dog who wants to go for a ride in the car.]
I swear, on my deathbed, I'll be reorganizing my own breathing tubes and catheters. Anyhoo ...

Love the p0rn, katk. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the musicians and canine imagery, too.

Here ya go...here's what I posted in the male fragrance discussion forum last weekend.

Now that's what l call perfume porn!! Beautiful collection, volley, & beautifully presented! Me want a nice cabinet now...
And what lovely photography, Volley2! I love seeing all the bottles against a glass and white background. Just like in a gallery.

Lol at Quarry organizing her death bed! I liked the beer bottle/canine imagery, too - especially the shredded bits of dog toys. I can relate.

Thank you for sharing your lovely collection ! I love your 'perfume nook' - lovely !
Volley, how beautiful. If it's not too much to ask, I'd love to see how it fits in with the rest of the room.
Thankk you ladies. Actually this is not a shelf or cabinet. I took this photo in my living room. I put the perfumes on top and at the edge of a white table set by set. These are 4 different/separate files/photos. I have all my perfumes in a wine cooler in my bedroom. So it took me a while to take them all out and arrange them and put them back again in the cooler. ha!

Yes, one of those old beatup pieces that we can paint over in a shiny laquer - teal, or chrome yellow, or parrot green - something like that. And line it with mirrors and fabric. I may get carried away and turn mine into a shrine.

Clever Volley2!

I will show mine when I've at least cleaned out the linen closet a little. :-/

Mine are all in boxes or tins on the floor of one of my closets. lol That's about as organized as I get. I pulled them out to take pics of them once, but am in need of a new one to include a few additions. Let's see if this works

Ah...lovely!
Jacona, oh, baby. What more can one say?
Oh Lord. Ok, here are mine. Maybe one of these days I’ll get things in better shape. This will be cathartic.

Two shelves of bathroom linen closet…

Floor (there is an accordion file on the extreme left, out of the frame, that has samples/decants alphabetically arranged, but they are old ones. The more recent ones get stashed in containers on the shelves or in a plastic bag on the shelf, as the containers are now full)…

One shelf (with unused nail polish in front…need to jettison those)…

Close up of shelf…

[removed pic of hubby. ]

I would really love to see some more pics from people. If I can post these you don’t have to be embarrassed at all, lol!
Jacona- a beautiful picture ! Thanks for sharing - it must have taken a while to put all the bottles out and arrange them. Mine are in boxes which are in boxes- not a pretty sight for sure..........

Lilybelle- how long has your DH been part of your perfume collection ??! *LOL* All joking aside... what a wonderful stash you have ,sweets .All those bottles !!!!!
Your DH is a handsome fellow !
Handsome hubby, lilybelle! Since you've been brave enough to show your collection "warts & all", here is mine, just as it is...

Most of my samples are in wooden cigar boxes on a nearby shelf, but that's not nearly as interesting.

Teardrop -I would refer to your collection as "Boxes of Pleasure" - beautiful . Thanks for sharing. Mine are not quite as pretty ...........
Yay, Teardrop! Thank you for posting yours. Cigar boxes are a great idea. I've seen people's pics of their sample storage solutions here. Some people use styrofoam to make the sample vials stick up. Cutting some to fit inside cigar boxes would be a good way to keep them upright. I might look into that...someday. Along with the thrift shop cabinet refurbishment project.

And thank you for the compliments to my husband -- yes, he's part of the collection, lol! That pic was on the camera when I took these. Looks like he was using his tee shirt as a napkin! He might not like that I posted that one, hee!

My little beginners collection including discontinued back-ups:
Gloria, Loulou Blue, Organza Indecence, Feminitie du bois, un bois vanille, bois d'armanie, Coco, tuscan cypess, hypnotic poison and hypnotic poison elixir, Fuel for Life unlimited, Capri Island, my growing pile of perfumed court samples and the oldies - Exclamation (memory scent secondary school!), L'eau D'issey (Wedding day).

Thanks lilybelle! Got a good deal on my loulou blue & gloria backup bottles from a small perfume shop in canada I found online -when I called them up all the way from Ireland they thought I was pretty crazy - but they seem to be selling online now! Love basenotes & my new hobby - heading to Italy in july and plan to check out lots of niche perfumes I can't get to sample in Ireland! DH has already moaned: "Am I gonna be standing outside loads of perfume shops?"

I hope this works. It's my first encounter with a photo hosting site.

My husband is a whiz at solving storage problems. Whenever I have a storage problem, he just makes me something to suit. Perfumes are easy, compared to storing some of my artists materials.

Our bedroom is small, so we've gone to wall cabinets, to save space.

The first picture is the two cabinets closed showing their position on the wall.

The second shows my current set up. Note the clever solution to keeping samples upright. Just some blocks of wood drilled to an appropriate depth and size to hold the vials.

The third shows the crowded situation with trying to keep perfumes and makeup together.

I already want to take another pic adding the stuff I got the other day at Ross and Marshalls. (Will talk about these on another thread, probably the one about L de Lolita.) But I have no idea where to put this stuff or if I might return a few things!
Such fun to see all the collections here! Thanks for sharing everyone, & do keep 'em coming. More, more!

Mimi l would so love to see yours, hope you can find the time to set up a few piccies for us!

LilliB l adore those cabinets, how lucky you are to have such an understanding & creative hubby!
LiliB, what nice cabinets! I like the idea of wall mounted storage, and the wood drilled with holes as sample holders sounds great. Nice that your husband is handy and willing to makes those things for you.

Yes, more!
I failed to type what I was thinking earlier about Volley's photo, which was something akin to: Aaaaaaaahhhh, oooooohhhhhh. Words often fail when the visual cortex gets over-stimulated. Suffering the same vocabulary shortage with LiliB's open-door photo. It's just so darned satisfying, I can't express it.

What I see in Lilybelle's closet is a pure love of fragrance. It's all about the nose experience. There's no ulterior collector's obsession, nor ego-infested need to show off. This attitude is fascinating and attractive to me because "casual" is so difficult for me.

Took down Mr. L'belle's pic? No matter. I've got it memorized: smirky smile; dark gray t-shirt; two big watermelon drips on the right side of the belly; light-colored, smooth-profile cabinetry; microwave over black stove; small-tile backsplash. The mister's more charming and vigorous looking than he appeared in that shot from the Christmas party at L's mom's house.

Galwaygirl, you have a terrific combination for someone claiming "beginner" status. I envy the journey you are on.

Yes, pity our poor husbands. We are unreasonable.

Most have seen my obsessive-compulsive stashes, but I'll provide these updates which reflect a paring down of bottles and ever-tightening regimentation of samples and decants.

The desk drawer:

(Containers are glass floral frog, plastic ammunition holders, and ribbon-laced tray.)

The shrine:

Bottle worthies:

L'Artisan tokens behind pull-knobs and souvenir bracelet:

The back-up stash:

Oooooohhh....aaaaahhhh....Quarry! Your shrine. Just gorgeous! ♥ ♥ ♥ That is what I aspire to. Thank you for your kind interpretation of my messiness. Yes, hubby is happier in his own home than in my mom's. You are extremely observant! What a great visual memory you have!

Quarry, Your aesthetic is stunning. And your ribbon-laced tray is inspired, not to mention gorgeous.

lol bookwyrmsmith, "skin for extra testing" - himself is not impressed with that suggestion!
volley2 - love your collection - I'm only on basenotes a short while, but I recognise most of the bottles now! You must be the best smelling person in shanghai!
Quarry - thank you! Your bathroom is beautiful - so elegant!
