Game: Guess the Fragrance by the Picture!~ PART 3

Thread Starter
Game started by BrothaG

Go here for Part one.
Go here for Part two.

::Copy of the first post of Part one with the rules::

Get ready for a brand new game!

It's based upon the following idea: someone will post a picture that is in some way related to (the name of) a fragrance. Every member will then be able to guess that particular name. For instance, a picture of the Nile river and a garden near it could translate into Un Jardin sur le Nil.

The rules are quite simple:
** Post a picture that refers to a fragrance. It doesn't necessarily have to be an existing image, you can also come up with a combination of images or create/shoot something yourself. Be creative.
** If your picture appears to be too hard to solve, you can give a few hints later on. For instance, mention that the fragrance's name is French.
** Please respect the web traffic and copyright of other people. It's recommended to upload your image to a free hosting service such as TinyPic , ImageShack , or Xs.to so that the original uploader won't suffer from hotlinking. Also, make sure the filename ('nameoftheimage.jpg') does not reveal the answer.
** Once one is solved, feel free to post a new challenge. If you've posted an image, please check back to the thread often to see if people have guessed the scent's name.
** If the poster of a puzzle does not return to the thread in a fair amount of time, other members are free to come up with a new one. The previous poster can still confirm later whether or not people were right in their guessing.
** For those creating puzzles: when confirming the right answer please include the house to allow easier archiving of the thread.
** Please note: everyone is greatly encouraged to guess along. However, this has to be an equally fun game for all members and therefore, everyone guessing is kindly asked to contribute to the thread by creating a challenge yourself every now and then. Don't let the guessers keep guessing and the creators creating, but be creative instead.
** Motivate your guessing, i.e. mention why you think it's this or that fragrance.
** Please only use fragrances that are listed in the Basenotes Fragrance Directory (over 10.000 listed). This way, people who are not familiar with a certain scent can still play along.
** For all other cases, please refer to the Basenotes Forum Rules.

The list of fragrances used in the past became too long and was not really useful any longer. So, it is deleted. For those who are curious, part of it is still visible in Part One.

Have fun!!

The Guess thread is ready for a new start

KBE, I just read your last puzzle on Part 2 and it was a 'beast'.
Ending Part 2 in great style. Congrats to the solvers!

I got a headache from the Guerlain puzzle. That is the risk of thinking too much!
At least we now know how kbe thinks. It's verbal...

Congrats to darling Habanitta!
It's time for revenge.

Fragrance name and house, please:

Noone has it yet - but I like how your minds work. The house has been mentioned, but not the fragrance itself.
Another hint which may be frustrating:

It will all fall into place. Think outside the box.

Remember - fragrance consists of two words.

Dior Passage No.4
Due to the 60th anniversary of the house of Dior and the 10th anniversary of their cooperation with John Galliano, Dior introduces three perfumes, each dedicated to a world wide famous lady. Just like Dior had its three muses: France, Lucky and Victoire, John Galliano also presents his ladies of choice, fashion icons of the new age: Stella Tennant, Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen as the inspiration for the three new fragrances. Passage n° 4, the rose perfume, is aristocratic, romantic and eccentric with notes of fiery pimento just like the woman that inspired it - Stella Tennant. All three perfumes together make an original mixture, and each one emphasize a person, a flower and a haute-couture dress presented on the latest fashion show.

Thanks, Sophi - I didn't know this.

Continue guessing - a two word fragrance.

No, no and no. (Not catnip, Ken? You should try it!)
One more hint to finally settle which house this is:

Ha, I only had 2 Martell cognacs. They were exquisite.

Crow, not catnip, seems to be on the menu...

Anyone know who is the man in the pic last posted by Madame? I have no idea and knowing who it is would probably be a big help in solving this...this...vexingly headache-inducing, bicameral brainteaser of a puzzle.

P.S. I am heading for a third Glenlivet 12 year old single malt scotch.

Only Givenchy? My Givenchy? Givenchy Gentleman has to be out since a pic of Galliano was proffered...

...only 28+ two-word Givenchy frags to go. I have to admit I am totally lost on this one Madame.

You, my dear, have unleashed the Kraken in me for future puzzles/clues. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Be Givenchy?

I'm baffled, too!
L'Interdit? I guess that's two words. More like 1.5!
If it's not from Irresistible line (I was thinking Absolutely Irresistible, but that was already mentioned, no?), then maybe it's Eau Torride, or Naturally Chic, or Play Intense, or maybe Dahlia Noir. Gosh, I think I need some catnip

Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy ?Dahlia Noir?Fleur d'Interdit?Givenchy Lights?Organza Indecence?

Was Le De mentioned?
Or is it "L'Interdit (Original)" to distinguish it from the flawed reintroduction? The original version was made for Audrey....

YES! Yes yes yes! Finally!
L'Interdit are most definitely two words. You could say Le Interdit - but the French don't use "Le" right before a vowel.
Other examples: Le cheval ( a horse) and l'eau (water, as we all know).
Here endeth the lesson in French.

The first pic is from a Givenchy fashion show.
The red "no, don't, stop" circle gives away the fragrance as l'interdit means forbidden.
The story is that M. Givenchy created the perfume for Audrey Hepburn (as Red observes) in 1957. When he wanted to release the perfume to the public later on, it is said that Audrey told him: ""Mais c'est mon parfum, je vous l'interdis !" ("But it is my perfume, I forbid you!")

Kbe knows that the evening dress is Galliano for Givenchy. So I thought that we are on track by now. But no.
So I posted a pic of Galliano, who indeed worked for Givenchy (starting 1995) before he left for the house of Dior. (By now I really thought everyone had it. But no...)
So up went a pic of M. Hubert de Givenchy himself, and Audrey Hepburn to finalize it.
By now most of you were frustrated and some were angry. (I don't blame you, kbe...)

The new and detroyed L'Interdit is said to be nothing like the original - if any of you have tried the original, please tell!

So: congratulations dear Red, well done! And a big hug to everyone who played this one - I admire your persistence.

L'Inderdit !Well,i didn't know that were two kinds of interdit!I knew fleur l'interdit (which i posted thought l' do not count as word as le) and l'interdit ...

Fiendishly Clever...Head-poundingly Abstruse...Grammatically Torturous...More Fun than a Pugilistic Monitor ...Deliciously Unobtainable and then only vaguely discernible to the mind addled by Super Iso E (Red)...

..Very Good!

LOL! And to think that everyone had to suffer because of you! Are we even?

La guerre (or shouldn't--and shouldn't is ONE WORD NOT TWO!!--it be the more confusing "l'guerre"?) de plaisir ne fait que commencer, mon cherie..

Very well, chéri, perhaps your next puzzle should be about "Unforgiven"?

LMAO

I can see Ken now, swirling a "proper" vintage in a brandy snifter......

"Hmmm. A flinty note - perhaps a rock which broke several wagon wheels...... hints of good but slightly overpriced blackcurrant...... oh, my! Some nuts just brimming with allergens! This one should be on everybody's list!"

The beautiful picture of L'Interdit with the one who named it - ample reward for our troubles!

I have to say, I was showing some rather synthetic thoughts on this one. Once I had it, I assumed that "forbidden" was screaming from picture one, where the ladies were wearing..... LEGGINGS.....

Hot, but strictly verboten! Leggings are SO last year. Even this spring's dogpile for long boots isn't a sure thing for fall, despite the recent fling with gnarly motorcycle boots for men. (Just my fashion opinion...)

In any case, thanks for a wonderful and deliciously hard puzzle. And thanks to somebody else for inciting it!!!
kbe, that is exactly why Madame suggested catnip. One word or two? It wouldn't have mattered

That is so clever, Red! Why oh why didn't I think of that one? Great, great idea!

I have had catnip and had a cat nip. Different enough so that I definitely prefer the former.

^LOL

You smoked cat nip? Damn. I can't get it to stay in the bowl, much less light it up.
