Xerjoff 1861 arrived - My review

I hope this is the right place to post a review. The perfume is unisex so rather than post twice (once in female fragrance discussion and then again in male discussion) I've posted it here

Well folks my full bottle arrived yesterday and to sum this fragrance up in one word, it would simply be 'Amazing'

This is one of the best citrus fragrances I have ever smelt (I've tried many over the years being a great fan of quality citrus scents) and although my favourite Xerjoff to date was Nio, this is now in joint first place.

Price wise it is slightly cheaper than the other Xerjoff's, but that doesn't mean the quality is lower. The quality of the ingrediants are top notch as usual and Xerjoff have really gone to town with this one, to bring out a long lasting citrus perfume. Many citrus fragrances fade after a couple of hours if you are lucky, but this one on my skin I can still smell after 5+ hours, obviously not a much as when first sprayed, but it is definitely there, so I certainly think it's value for money.

It kicks off with lime, mint, bergamot, mandarin and petitgrain. It is very fresh, but not in your face, with the lime being the most prominent note. The lime is not tarty like some other fragrances, this one has quality written all over it. I can also tell there is mint but it's very faint, although it certainly works very well with all the other notes.
Thebeck sums it up perfectly on another thread saying "The effect is a very softened lime thats keeps being refreshed by the mint". The bergamot and mandarin I can also detect and the top notes last for a very long time, but it's the lime that is the star of the show here for me.

Lily of the valley and there's something else I can detect in the mid notes (rose is listed as well) certainly keeps things fresh and interesting and the top notes are still present.
You finally you get a lovely soft drydown. This is very smooth, with notes of cedar, patchouli and musk, but they are not overpowering and the fresh citrus vibe continues all the way.

The fragrance is neither masculine or feminie, it's totally down the middle unisex and can be enjoyed by anyone.
As you've probably guessed by now I simply love this perfume. Thank you Xerjoff

The box has a different colour on each side, red, green and white which are the colours of the Italian flag. Very impressive and quite a sturdy box as well.

Thank you, Craig, for posting this. It sounds wonderful, and has some of my favorite notes. I will definitely sample this. And, yes, it is a beautiful bottle and story.

Many thanks for the review, Craig. Citrus is hands-down my favorite "family" of fragrances, especially when coupled with some "oomph." Will definitely be checking this out.

In Europe, you can get it from First in Fragrance or Essenza Nobile (both Germany) or buy it direct from Xerjoff. USA I would imagine Luckyscent and ParfumsRaffy when they have it in stock
