Guys:

I am about to spend upward of two hundred bucks...please reccomen something awe inspiring, a cut above.

I love animalic and musky frags. I also like sandalwood frags or herbal/vetiver.

Please either name one that's about two hundy or a couple that will add up to that amount. Price is not the answer...just looking for something you guys find mind blowing with any of those notes.

Thanks,
Nick

Absolue pour le Soir
Eau de Parfum
by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
\t

"The Scoop
With its soft blend of balsamic benzoin, honeyed rose and meditative incense, Cologne pour le Soir was intended for cosy dinners and evenings by the fireplace easing into a quiet, tender night. Absolue pour le Soir is its polar opposite: a fragrance for a night on the town.

While retaining the Colognes core accord, Francis Kurkdjian has added a distinctly animalic whiff of cumin and smoky sandalwood; Atlas cedarwood lends its rich, leathery tinge; ylang-ylang fleshes out the floral heart.

Slightly naughty and totally distinctive, Absolue pour le Soirs feline sillage, boosted by heated flesh, lasts well past twelve hours. Spritz it on and dance til dawn. Unless you have a better idea..."

Nick, I'd be holding off for a few weeks until Mona launches her Oud! Hang on to the coupla hundred, throw in a bit more a month from now et voila!

Another issue is whether you want something strong and obvious, or something subtle and complex. My preferences tend towards the latter. And what I would consider buying at that price point would be frags like Missoni Uomo and Versailles Pour Homme.

I own MKK and love it. Thanks for all of your posts! I'm def looking for something complex but subtle

Also, if you have patience, you can get some great vintage frags for a fraction of $200, for example, the original Lagerfeld Cologne (not "Classic"), on ebay.

On the animalic and musky side:
+1 Absolue pour le Soir
Check out Une Fleur de Cassie too. If you like MKK and Kiehl's then UFdC is a must try.

D'oh...just saw that you own MKK...

Get a sample of L'Ombre Fauve. "Beastial Shadow" It is subtle and complex I would say. Kind of musky amber. Not exactly animalic, but it is one of the few scents that evokes the smell of animal fur. Pretty clean scent. I'm longing to wear it as I write this.

Read the reviews on it. Some think it's somewhat similar to Ambre Sultan, but I have both and in a wearing, I find it quite different. Not $200 either.

Musc Ravageur or MKK

Maybe MKK if you like real dirty (but wearable) animalic and musky frags!

EDIT: Sorry, just seen that you own it already!

Sounds like you're in the market for some vintage Shalimar parfum extrait. Imho it beats APLS with room to spare.

L'air de Rien. I own and love it! Strange scent but there's something so welcoming and addicting about it.
