New: One Man Show Gold Edition

Thread Starter
From Fragrentica:

"The new limited fragrance attracts attention with its foamy and juicy sweet notes of mandarin and apples, enriched with violet flowers and orange blossom in the top notes. The heart encompasses characteristic nuances of aromatic lavender and geranium spiced with cinnamon and cloves providing power and a tart note. A base intertwines warm and pleasant woody accords, labdanum, ambergris and musk.

One Man Show Gold Edition is available in the same flacon shape as previous chypre edition One Man Show. The accent lies on a black background with golden details. The fragrance aims at modern, contemporary and sophisticated men. It was introduced as a limited edition 100 ml EDT. Edition: 2011."

I'm a huge fan of the original OMS - just wondering how long until it gets to the States. I just hope that it doesn't lose any of it's sillage or character.

Regards,

...NDN-01!!!

Apples? That doesn't sound anything like the OMS I know...

Think this was mentioned in another thread recently. Looking forward to adding this to my collection.

Did anybody purchase it? How do feel about it?
Since my last post I purchased this. It was very inexpensive $17 for 100ml and not bad. Much stronger than the original.

It is very inexpensive in the USA. Sadly adding the postage to the UK, as I can't seem to find any cheap sellers here, makes me a little more hesitant for the moment (even though it would still be quite inexpensive).

So 5 am this morning I grab my phone and using the Basenotes app I start scrolling through the forum without my glasses on. I see this topic and think. What the heck is One Man Shower Gold Edition?
I purchased it as soon as I saw it. A very safe blind buy, the box comes with the words "Highly Concentrated" written on top. Not an understatement. This stuff is strong ...and good.

MUCH stronger than the original OMS? I simply do not believe that! LOL.
It isn't much stronger, but it is far more dense. A wonderful, complex scent. If you're a Bogart fan, then you could never go wrong with OMSGE.

Unless this a complete reformulation of the original, I can't imagine two phrases on more polar opposite ends of the spectrum as "One Man Show" and "very safe blind buy"

I'm sure it's an improvement over the original. Whether it's good, well, that's another story.

Believe it, I tested this recently in SG, and the juice smells THICK.
I saw this in a shop the other day, but didn't try it. I'm curious now and will give it a go sometime this week.
Been using it on and off for some days now. The words that come to mind: Dense, thick, heavy. Almost oily. This is the good stuff, guys.

To me this smells just like Lapidus Pour Homme

This morning I tried One Man Show Gold Edition along with Lapidus Pour Homme, and the two are indeed very similar, at least in the initial stages. I tested them on paper, and smelled them over a ten minute time span. Their drydowns may be different, but at least the beginnings are very much alike. It was my impression that Gold Edition was a little softer than the Lapidus.
Hmmm . . . softer but similar to Lapidus, eh? That harshness to Lapidus (and overdone honey note) is what killed the scent for me and made me give it away. But I still wish I could have liked it. Maybe OMS Gold is the answer.

...
I tried it on skin today and found the mid and base notes as those of Lapidus with a "darker" feeling and extended longevity. I did not find any analogies to the original One Man Show at all.

I even scrubbed it in order to give way for a blind sniff exercise it to no avail. It has been three hourse since application and it still notorious.

For those liking über potent scents, this will fill the bill. An excelent value for money for those loking after tremendous sillage and longevity.

Can someone please tell me if I hate 1 million will I hate OMS Gold Edition ? Otherwise it sounds like something I would like to try. The smell of 1 million is a cloying gourmand to my nose. I don't like A Men either.

Thanks

I think they're both quite different.

I was hoping you would respond

It has been compared to Ted Lapidus Por Homme as well but I've never tried it. I would be looking for a variation of an ODR POR LUI Giorgio Beverly Hills or a Salvador Dali Por Homme which I haven't tried but sounds interesting.

Can you relate it to any iconic 80's scent ? I am an 80's kid.

Thanks

Off topic, Salvador Dali Pour Homme is FANTASTIC.

On topic, Lapidus is a very distinct scent - one I can't equate with the official notes listed. I'm thinking about blind-buying this stuff right now!

Where did you purchase your Dali ? From the reviews it seems like I might enjoy that better than OMS Gold. I am a little hesitant just because it is one of those discounter only fragrances. I trust you though.
The Dali has strong castoreum, so it's like a floral version of the original OMS. The new OMS sounds like it has a Lapidus PH type drydown, which is not good (too "blob" like) unless we are talking about the original Lapidus PH, which is much better. I suggest getting the Dali or vintage Lapidus. Don't throw good money at a new frag that never sold for a lot (that's my rule of thumb), because it's likely inferior to similar frags that will not cost that much more (or possibly less if you get a good deal on ebay).

Good advice ! A floral version of the original OMS sounds nice to me. Now I need to decide what vendor to trust. I am stuck between Parfum1 an Amazon 3rd party vendor and an unboxed gift set from fragrance.net. The gift set looks cool but I have a thing about buying a fragrance without it being boxed.

I got mine from Parfum1.com. It was dirt cheap.

I like it enough to pursue a vintage bottle soon. There are some vintage bottles for sale in Xmen's ridiculous sales thread here on basenotes, and I've been totally satisfied with everything else I've bought from him (especially the original Fendi EDT, which is out-of-this-world). It's just that my ADD forces me to buy other new fragrances before stocking up on ones I know I'll wear to the grave.

Dali is sorta like OMS, but ends up being completely different. As long as you spray it from a bit of distance, the bitter cat litter/wormwood/lavender opening that is ubiquitous in 80s power frags is only a brief nuisance. The stuff's drydown is out of this world - like leather upholstery, cigarettes, and jasmine. It's really gorgeous and totally wearable. Very well-blended - but you knew that, considering who the nose behind it was.
