I'm testing out the Commes Des Garcons Incense Avignon I got in the mail today from Lucky Scent > >

Oddly, I haven't been too tempted lately. I thought the initial whiff of Creed White Flowers would make me swoon for an acquisition, but the drydown and the price tag cured that!

Congrats on the Detchema, Rosemary of Rosemary's Baby scent. It's really very pretty. If you can get a some of their Carnet de Bal reasonably that's worth the effort too.
I couldn't help it.... I blind bought Mangiuer Metisse by Huitieme Art.
Over the weekend, I bought Carnal Flower.

(Yes, I know that it's August...and the last weekend falls in July, but the thread is locked now.)

An impulse buy of a very cheap bottle of Estee Lauder Emerald Dream which I will put away until summer arrives.

Also my Sonoma Scent Studio order arrived!

- 5ml Voile de Violette
- 17ml Lieu de Reves

samples of:

- Fireside Intense

Picked up the SJP NYC flanker Pure Crushat TJ Maxx this week. it's is a nice airy coconut milk/vanilla
post #17 of 127
I bought chanel allure homme from a fellow basenoter.
Just got in the mail today:

Serge Lutens: Douce Amere, Fille en Aiguilles, Five o'Clock au Gingembre

The last (?) store selling ELD'O in Montreal is discontinuing its bottles, and I bought its last two 50 mL bottles (Encens et bubblegum and Vraie blonde) blind for a very good price!

My first blind buys, and I'm glad I actually like them! But I still need to find my true love, Like This.
Not bought, but my daughter brought to me from France the Jardin Sur La Toit of Hermes
post #21 of 127
Just received>

Those are some good -- no, make them grrrrreat! -- acquisitions, ladies, today and yesterday.
I also bought on a sheer impulse (unsniffed) Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess...I feel summer slipping through my fingers...should I buy an inexpensive Bond no.9 Fire Island? Anyone wearing that one? Or maybe Bobbi Brown beach? Any info appreciated.
Last Friday, bought a 100ml. bottle of Jo Malone Dark Amber and Ginger Lily. So glad they are selling this again. I really wanted a 50ml. bottle but they didn't have that option. 1st bottle of perfume bought online since April, wow, it seemed 10X that long, lol.
Dior Poison. Realized I still love it.
My first full bottle Serge Lutens: Santal Blanc. I might go back for Douce Amere...
I'm planning a big sell-off, so in anticipation of extra funds I blind-bought Shalimar Parfum Initial. Love the Shalimar EDP and the vintage parfum - I expect to adore Initial, too. Very pleased with this one and can't wait to try it!
Mmmmh, Fleurine! Congratulations - Lyric Woman is a big favorite of mine!

Fleurine, I feel the exact same way, summer seems to be slipping away so quickly . Though it's been very hot, I love the longer days and outdoor activities that summer brings. I've started buying scents for Fall but feel a need to get that one last summer scent to spritz before summer is completely over. I have not tried any of the scents you listed, though one of my friends who also shares my passion for fragrance loves BB Beach and goes back to it each summer. I've been musing over purchasing Balenciaga Paris, or trying to track down a bottle of Bond No 9 Coney Island or Chelsea Flowers or going with JM Verbenas of Provence.

Hope whatever you buy makes summer last a little bit longer for you
post #30 of 127
Thanks Larimar! Lyric Woman is pretty incredible! I don't think I can afford a large Amouage collection, but that one I just had to had to purchase.

And Addicted2pretty...I'm still contemplating another summer scent...even though it's pouring today...maybe I will pull it out in the cold weather too. Let me know what you decide on.
Very nice, everyone! Luckies!
I usually don't post here until the bottles are in my hands, but I will remain confident they will arrive as expected. Caron Le 3e Homme and Trussardi by Trussardi. The Trussardi is a blind buy (I read about it recently on Perfume Shrine). Fingers crossed!

Oh! Also, bf and I visited TJMaxx in Iowa City (Coralville actually) when recently in Iowa, and bought blindly & just for kicks, Nicole Miller, Nicole Miller for Men, and Paloma Picasso. Nicole Miller smells like a tropical floral - kind of a light version of SL Datura Noir, NM for men smells like Calvados, and Paloma Picasso... well, um, the jury is still out on that one... I'm having doubts I'll be wearing it.
I have enjoyed Estee Lauder's Pleasures Bloom so much I have just purchased the 3.4 oz bottle. Happy ! Now off to the gym............
And I just received 30ml decant of Dior Leather Oud and 10ml Lutens A La Nuit.
Too lazy this evening to take pics. Plus, decants aren't half as photogenic as bottles.
I just ordered a new bottle of Lady Vengeance since my current bottle, much to my dismay, sputtered rather than sprayed. Those opaque bottles protect the juice but hide the impending heartbreak of an empty bottle with no back-up, so this disaster was averted just in the nick of time.

Good mail day!

Thierry Mugler Angel La Rose (love the bottle on this, although it could act as a weapon!) 50ml
JC Brosseau Fleurs d'Ombre Jasmin Lilas 100ml

-Les Parfums de Rosine Rosa Flamenca 5ml
-Tom Ford Black Violet 1ml

plus a sample grab bag which contained:

-Commes des Carcons Peppermint
-Sinfonia di Note Fleur de Santal
-Ebba By Sand
-Penhaligons Anthonology Zizonia
-Vero Profumo Onda

happy sniffing day!

I haven't bought anything, but I wanted to reply to Fleurine. I love "beachy" summer scents and own Beach by Bobbi Brown. Beach smells like Coppertone suntan lotion, but with more a perfume quality to it. Beach has great sillage and longevity, and every time I put it on my husband says I smell like summer. If you like the smell of Coppertone, I'd definitely say it's worth the money.

I also fell in love with Bronze Goddess, and desperately looked for one on ebay (it was discontinued). I found one mint in box (with the plastic wrap on it) and payed a premium price for it, yet it smelled watered down compared to the sample I had from The Perfumed Court. I consoled myself by getting a decant from them, and now when I wear it I put down a base layer of several sprays of my ebay BG and then a scant few sprays of my decant. That seems to do the trick.

I haven't tried Bond's Fire Island because I couldn't figure out a way to get a sample without buying a whole bottle from Bond, and that irritated me. Maybe I'll try it next summer. Hope this helps!

Discontinued? I bought one with no box from beauty encounter (?)...hmm..it smells fine to me but I bought it unsniffed, so who's to say. Thanks for the feedback...I'm still torn between BB Beach and Bond no.9 Fire Island...summer needs to be prolonged as long as possible....

Mimi you are making me so curious about pleasures bloom!

you are welcome to post here anytime; several of the guys cross post their proud purchases.

Went to pick up my RXs today at my local drug store and saw a small selection of new oil based Demeters. Bought:

Soap nice, with a little vetiver in it
Baby Powder- this was a nice surprise as it does not smell like Johnson & Johnson's baby powder. I swear it has a slighty orris/animalic vibe to it.

Tried the Vanilla Cake Batter but didn't love it.

Books too? Das Kapital?

Actually I am so jealous I am about to bite you -- I do not know what for: this Venezia or quoting yourself.

Hahaha, no! It's a 22 volume set about the Danish castles and manor houses!

As for Venezia; I knew it was desirable,
but, not this much! I'm quite pleased!
Yeah, luckily you are the one who appreciates a joke. Anyhow, every time you think this was NOT well-spent $2.00, let me know, OK? Besides, even with the raised bottom, it looks more like 18-20ml. You lucky demon/angel!

No problem, glad to find a "beachy scent" gal like me! It's my understanding that Bronze Goddess was released as a limited edition summer scent. They reformulate it every year, with the current incarnation being Bronze Goddess Soleil. I haven't tried it, but the notes make it sound more like a citrus perfume (rather than a coconutty beachy perfume).
I did not buy but I received in my mailbox a sample of FlowerBomb by Viktor & Rolf. Love it!!!!!
Mimi G -- is that you? What's going on?
Got my bottle of L'Artisan Bois Farine today!

I just realized how many bottles I bought this month... and I prefer not to write it down! :/ (Not a lot for many of you, but much more than I was planning!) But I smell good!
In another moment of summer-slipping-by panic...I picked up yet another set of my beloved Chanel black plastic purse sprays...No 5 Eau Premeire this time...nice price on eBay.

Congratulations to all newly unAmouaged people.

Was thinking about this ad for Bronze Goddess you are posting and quoting. It is sensual, the girl with beachy hair is not ugly, the composition is proportional and the lighting is right. But for crying outloud, who ever thought of using this hideous shade of lipstick with this all? Arghhhh.....
