Creed Aventus or Montale Red Vetyver

FOr anniversary, 51 year old man wants a new scent for all around wear. Wife likes Aventus and tolerates Red vetyver. I had RV once and sold it, and got it from Montale directly, so I asked for the extra concentration. Dont know if they added more oils or just added more juice, but the Perfumme shop has 100 ml for $120. Wife liked Tom Ford Grey vetiver and to an extend Prada Amber for Men Intense.

I wear GIT and MI and like ACQUA di Parma Colonia but selling it.

So, for year round, office or weekend, RV or Aventus. Do they last about the same and project about the same?

Aventus!

Red Vetyver always! Ok, I haven't tried Aventus, but the good thing about Red Vetyver is it's versatility IMO: it is a formal vetiver, but also a fun pepper...

Red Vetyver is an excellent fragrance.

Aventus is mediocre, at best - plus I do not think it will meet your longevity and sillage requirements.

Can't lose with either.

I got 4 compliments on Aventus today, two of them came about 9 hrs after application. All from women who all seemed turned on. I rest my case.

Aventus!

There's no way that Aventus is mediocre at best...

True dat.

I think the answer to your question lies in another question: why did you sell your original bottle of Red Vetyver?
IMHO, TDH is a better RV. Aventus has no clear comparison. Get Aventus, it's a more unique scent. That said, I'd take TDH over it.

Aventus, baby! A truely amazing, mouth watering fragrance and a real people pleaser.

Aventus doesn't meet sillage and longevite requirements for me, i don't feel comfortable with the smell either. I want to try red vetyver but if it has something similar to Terre must be good.

Aventus

Aventus is an outstanding fragrance, imo.

Aventus is 100x better quality fragrance. It smells better too.
I own both but would recommend Red Vetyver as it's probably less likely to wear out it's welcome over time (unless you have TdH, already, which is similar).

I don't hate Creed but I don't love it either. I have just sold my bottle of MI today. =) It's just probaly not the type of scents that satisfy my nose.

Hater! Hater! Hater!

Red Vetyver is nice, but I think Terre D'Hermes is much better. So buy Aventus and then get Terre D'Hermes at a discount.

This. TdH owns Red Vetyver.

I agree that Red Vetyver is more interesting but I guess that may be due in part to the fact that I have tried many more niche stuff that we dont get in Memphis than my wife and daughter, who love Aventus and Grey Vetiver on me, but did not care much for Acqua di Parma Colonia (they say it smells like shave cream). However, I guess it is how others perceive it on me, and they say that MI lasts on me when I cant smell it. SO maybe I just need to get the aventus and enjoy it?

Some say that you wear your perfume to enjoy it yourself, but I honestly admit that what my friends, family and colleagues think of it matters a lot as well. It's a tough decision in your case. Still, I love Red Vetyver and vote for that :-) especially if it's juiced up.

Well, won an auction for the Aventus here, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT, $182.50 and shipping for 4.0 ounces, since wife liked it. Hope I got the good juice and a great deal

Aventus was a good choice and is what I would have gotten but from an authorized dealer.

This.

I just can't find a situation where I can't wear it.

You know how hot/humid it has been here being 60 miles apart, and I've been wearing it to work nearly every day with shorts and a polo style work shirt and it lasts forever.

Get a ton of compliments from the flower shop ladies too.

I disagree....well after the first hour.

RV gets creamier and the citrus less sharp.

I REALLY wanted to like TdH more as it was cheaper when I was getting ready to buy my full bottle, but longevity was not nearly as good, and I just preferred the drydown of RV more.

Never say never but I see RV as always having a place in my wardrobe.

If you compare Terre d'Hermes Eau de Parfum VS Red Vetiver (it's an Eau de Parfum) You will pay slightly higher for Terre d'Hermes Eau de Parfum (about 130$). Red Vetiver directly from Paris is under 125$ and you get a free 20mL travel bottle of your choice plus free shipping. So do the maths...

I forgot to say a thing; Terre d'Hermès Pure Parfum is 75mL not 100mL like Red Vetiver. So you gain 25% with the Montale choice.

p.s. Terre d'Hermès Eau de Toilette don't match the power of Red Vetiver.

It's VERY VERY risky to buy Creed on eBay. Many false there. I hope you got the real one
