Apparently not.

Gucci Guilty was when I realized that I am a true true basenoter. Went to the counter, smelled it, and thought to myself: "Boring"
I think this fragrance is just straight out gross. Sorry to be so crude with my description but after the initial "ok" blast it turned into a mixed bag of badly picked fruit and lingered on me for quite some time.

I gotta admit that I'm intrigued. The main fault of the regular men's GG is that it's weak as bathwater. The women's is pretty good. But I'm gonna give this a chance. I get the feeling that the market is opening up to people like me who like stronger frags. They NEVER used to listen on that, and all these insipidly weak EDTs were all we would get. Men's EDP? It's cool. I will always give an intense or an EDP a chance.

Of course, it may be bad - but I'll wait until I sniff it before I give up.

cmon now Gucci...

Souds less weak but not potent enought than the regular (watered down a LOT)

Exactly: Intense(weak) == normal!

I'm sure the SA's in the department stores are pissed. Didn't they just finish putting up those Guilty displays all nice and neat a few months ago?

god all the fragrances under Frida suck BAD .
I highly, highly doubt that Frida has much, if any creative input into what fragrances Gucci puts out.
They should be found guilty of unleashing these sh*t fragrances upon the world.
OK, the original smells like laundry detergent, this said by non-fragrance aficionados. IMO, the Intense should smell like concentrated laundry detergent.

^ LOL

Gucci Guilty is already "intense" enough just as it is
post #16 of 42

How do you mean when you ask "Is this a joke...?". I thought you liked the original Guilty ( there is nothing wrong with that, by the way.).

Some time people make up fragrance launches like Hillary Clinton's Authority.

I see what you mean. As in, they've just released the first Guilty....and so soon afterwards is the Intense released. And yes, the Intense label is quite convenient these days for labels.

The Onion - a scent that's never out of style!

I agree...I can not believe how bad Guilty Intense is. I do not find anything remotely attractive about it. Its synthetic, harsh and totally unpleasant.

Steve

Joe, your posts never fail to invoke laughter from me. i second that!

and on the other hand, like you always say,

"intense all the way." but probably not this one.

When your nose matures, it should actually take time to breakdown a fragrance instead of dismissing it based on other fragrances. I often see people comparing this frag to that frag, etc... This is its own fragrance. Review it as such! This is not a bad fragrance by any means: when its worn at the right temperature on the right skin/ph balance. I smelled this on two people. On one it smelled like sweat rolled in sulphur. On the other it smelled exactly like the note breakdown speaks. I am truly excited to see a fragrance that actually is three phase that blends fairly smoothly. This fragrance works with my system. Albeit, i am a patchouli addict, and normally not given to anything that has sweet notes, this one works for me. The reason? The combination of the fragrance gives off a slight peppery tone between the opening and the middle that is exhuberant. If they could bottle that pre-mid scent, GUCCI would be back on the map like never before. All of this is MY OPINION, nothing more. Cheers!

One reason why there are so many frags out there and folks buying them. Whatever works for you.

Wasn't impressed. Truth be told, I'm not a fan of Gucci fragrances as a whole, minus Envy for Him, which I love.

Well, to each his own.

personally I think the Intense is not that bad, compared to the Guilty

at least I wont feel intense guilt to have a bottle, compared with the Guilty

The odd thing is, and I know nobody will admit it, but the opening of Guilty (regular, not intense) smells a lot like LIDGE. Less cocoa, but still quite similar. Guilty kind of falls apart in the dry down though. It's too cheap and filled with basic musks; a shame because the opening is actually really promising.

Someone on Fragrantica reviewed the new Gucci Guilty Black ( Intense version of the Gucci Guilty Intense). I knew this fragrance would be crappy , the whole guilty line is just awful.
It's all about the Benjamin's, baby.
It's so frustrating when a house with such a strong history of releases chooses to go with formulaic rubbish instead.

Lol..Plenty of good designers out there man, Guilty is just not one of them.

Well it works for me lol

It's looking like I must be a rare breed that actually really likes Guilty (the regular one). When I stumbled apon Guilty, my criteria for a fragrance was the following...
1. Something contemporary (I started out being into powerhouses, but my taste has developed since then and I wanted something
contemporary).
2. Something that smells interesting but still appealing (for my own sake and those around me, but mainly my own).
3. Something by a designer (I wasn't looking for anything niche).

In terms of judging Guilty against the above criteria, it comes out looking like one of the best candidates out there if you ask me!

I tend to over think things, so I told myself to just buy a fragrance on instinct (while thinking a bit about the criteria afterwards), and Guilty just instantly hit the spot for me. After all, fragrance is basically liquid emotion, and if you respond to it at an emotional level, then no amount of bad reviews should stop you from buying it. There's just something about those creamy peppery notes that draws me to Guilty...

Guilty really does it for me and I see it as very fitting with my personality ("normal with a degree of interesting" maybe haha)...

Maybe this comment is in the wrong thread seeing I know this thread is all about Guilty Intense, but the regular Guilty is mentioned a lot so thought I would give my oppinion about that one and stand up for it a bit...

Honestly the best non-niche I have ever come across...

Gucci guilty is not bad, pedestrian at best , but Gucci Guilty and Gucci Guilty Black are utter garbage, sorry they are. Under the direction of Tom Ford, Gucci released some amazing fragrances, all of which are iconic and now discontinued. Gucci pour Homme I , Gucci Envy, Gucci Rush Homme, were all well crafted masterpieces. The current line of Gucci fragrances are nothing on the Ford Gucci era fragrances.
Too sad that the only fragrance I really liked from this house is discontinued. It was Envy. I have other ones from this house but I don't use them.
Envy, GPH 1, and Rush were works of art. I cannot get over the fact they discontinued GPH 1 for Gucci Guilty Black, which is a godawful fragrance to me.
