A very extensive line, lots to enjoy. These are my top picks from the house:

Eau de Parfum ( original )

Intense spicy clove-pepper-cinnamon with a honeyed drydown.

White

Similar but milder scent, more touched by ginger and curry spices.

Incense Series: Avignon

True to life frankincense scent, very pure, direct, and long-lasting.

Guerilla 1

Bizarre synthetics meet meaty, overripe flowers. Oddest of their ones I've tried.

Luxe Series: Champaca

Very realistic narcissus fragrance, lush and classical ( smells out of place in the line, but none-the-less charming ).

Luxe Series: Patchouli

Darker, smokier, more intense variant of Sables ( think: immortelle bomb ).

CDG x Monocle: Hinoki

Dry, green, edgy cedar. Very clean and minimalist.

CDG x Daphne Guinness: Daphne

Intense powdery tuberose-orange-incense scent.

CDG x Stephen Jones: Stephen Jones

Powerfully odd, non-sweet aldehydic violet fragrance.

Great call Suga, How could I have forgot about this? Bizarre fragrance, indeed!

I'm craving to test this one but it seems unavailable around here. How is the patch in this one?

The patch definitely plays second-fiddle to the immortelle. If anything I'd describe this scent as immortelle accented with spices, smoky birch tar, and patchouli. If one finds Sables too sweet and linear, I'd say Luxe: Patchouli is a great next stop, but it's not a patchouli monster. It has a very ''parfum'' feel, concentrating on base notes and a with a long, steady strength to it that favors dabbing.

This sounds as PURE PERFECTION to me! Thanks Suga, I'll unchain my dogs immediately so they can help me in the hunt.

Thanx Suga for the "Black Flag" comment

Is there any bottles from Comme Des Garcons that can be considered either a Gourmand or Vanilla fragrance?
I've only explored about half the line, but:

CdG Eau de Parfum : spice
CdG White : spice
Green Series - Calamus : powdered sugar
Red Series - Harissa: spice
Red Series - Rose : raspberry dessert
Synthetic Series - Soda : sweet lemon-lime
Daphne : creamy orange

They also had a whole ''Sweet'' series, all gourmand, but they're discontinued and rather rare.
Kyoto is my personal favourite - bought it the day it was released. Avignon and Calamus are the other two I own and I want to try Laurel again, quite liked it first time round.

I tried the entire sweet series and they were amazing , been looking to find them for years now . Turn up
very occasionally on Yahoo Auctions Japan

I was only able to find the Intense series at retails, are the other series more exclusive or discontinued?

It's rare to find all the Comme des Garcons at one store. I've seen nearly the whole line available at Barneys, and I know Luckyscent had the whole line available last time I looked. The other ones that I know for sure are discontinued are the Original Comme des Garcons Eau de Toilette ( not to be confused with the Eau de Parfum, still around ) and Mint and Shiso from the Green series ( which is really too bad, as Mint is kind of cool: new-mown lawn smell! )

There are a few oddly-named limited editions from years ago ( e.g. ''Pearly Monster'' ), but they're all just novelty bottles for the Original Eau de Parfum.

They also switched the cologne series into smaller bottles, raising the price per ml significantly. If you love one the cologne series ones, try to find some of those big ones! They're great deals.

Jaisalmer and Avignon! I own a bottle of the latter and have thought about buying the former as well, although I think I like it even better on my husband than on me.

Jaismaler makes me feel as though I am taking a walk in a certain arboretum in CT-- the one across from Connecticut College. This arboretum has both deciduous and evergreen trees and has a wonderful greenness in the air.

For a Japanese house, I'm surprised that I can't seem to locate this, ummmmm..... ANYWHERE around where I live (and I live in Kobe, not a small or out of the way city by any stretch of the imagination), including the local Barney's New York that only stocks like 4 houses (seriously). Their official website isn't that helpful either.

...and that Lux patchouli thing that I refuse to even consider because of the ludicrous pricing

will look at the incense series if i come across it.

I voted Kyoto (one of my fave scents) and Wonderwood, both of which I own. Also really like 2 and 2 Man.
The only CdG I've liked that hasn't been mentioned is Series 6: Synthetics -Tar, which is best worn on a hot day. Series 1: Leaves - Lily is nice ... and of course it's "soapy", with just that touch of bitterness it's supposed to have.

I do need to sample Garage some day.

If you like 2 Man, keep an eye out for the After Shave Gel. It's the consistency and texture of hair gel and it disappears into your skin and leaves a tenacious scented aura all over your face with bit of emolliency to it. It enhances the fragrance nicely. Same goes for the Shower Gel. Both I've found on Ebay.

I didn't vote in the poll because there are just TOO many for me to recommend. My opinion: Sample ALL OF THEM, on skin, not just on a tester strip.

And do yourself a favor and sample all 5 of the Incenses. Remember: CdG released these WAY BEFORE everyone and their mother had an incense scent. Now incense scents are everywhere but back in 2002 when these were released they were VERY ahead of their time and the art direction and 'pure incense' idea got copied by a bunch of niche and designer lines. These are ESSENTIAL for any fan of CdG to test/smell/own.
I'm spoiled, because the Perfume Shoppe in Vancouver has a good range of these scents - not all, but the most popular ones.

I thought I loved Kyoto until I wore a sample (rather than sniffing a piece of paper). All I got from it was smoke.

But I think Jaisalmer is the star. It has freshness over a dark undertone, which gives it more depth. On me, at least.

man, not a lot of love for wonderwood. i'm DYING to sample it but i can't find it, and it seems no one is wanting to part with their bottle. perhaps one day...

I'd say 2 Man is a borderline must have in any basenoter's lineup. I need to test Comme 2 Eau de Toilette and Play next.

Sequoia and Soda are two of my favorites.
