Terre d'Iris by Miller Harris for me today. I wish the longevity
was a bit better.
Smell Bent Prairie Nymph. This.is.so.pretty!! Oranges and honey, and allegedly musk but I can't really smell that part. Very citrus straight through but with this awesome honey-beeswax grounding it.

Today will be Burberry Brit Sheer. It's a good scent for hot days, doesn't overwhelm me like some others can.
Eau de Givenchy this a.m. for another scorcher of a day, the re-formulated Mythiques version. Grapefruit, bergamot, honeysuckle, jasmine, cedar and musk. This is perfect for a hot summer day, and I'm really enjoying the "laundry" musks this summer. I got this bottle in a swap with another Basenoter. I hope she is as happy with hers as I am with mine.

Busy as a bumble. Regret not reading more and participating here since Friday, but will make up for that once I get the next issue off to press. But, just as there's "always room for Jello," there's always time for fragrance: 24 Faubourg pour moi aujourd'hui.

My SotD was Givenchy Play Intense - same as last night.
This evening I'm going all in with both Le Mâle and Le Mâle
Terrible
.
I know that the Terrible is an EdT Extreme, but, the original
one is still waaay stronger.

Working from home today, SOTD is JM Grapefruit from sample. I'm not in love with it, but it's casual enough to fit sitting cross leg on sofa with laptop.

Adding my congrats to Twolf!

SOTD: FM Lys Mediterranae

Wearing a bit of the lotion (sample from the good folks at Barneys Chicago) plus a little spritz from a sample sent by dear Haunani (where ARE you, H?). So I love the top notes, even if a bit STRONG at first. Then, there's that weird note ("fecal") that comes out, the one usually found in jasmine-heavy scents ('though I don't think jasmine is usually listed with this fragrance). Then, I get a sweet note, almost like a gourmand (!). Now (maybe 2+ hours after spritzing), there's a tiny bit of a plasticky note. So, I guess I'm saying that there are a lot of interesting things going on here, and I WILL enjoy the rest of my samples. However, I don't think I can/will buy a full bottle. Sigh. The hunt for the perfect ginger lily continues!
POsting late, but wearing CK Eternity. Got a sample of EL Sensuous Nude this weekend. I'll need to retest it. My first impression was vanilla musk, soft and pretty, but rather one dimensional.
Big HOWL to TWolf on her 7K milestone!

Rose Kashmirie de Rosine is making me happy today...

Les Nombres d'Or Tubereuse by Mona di Orio (from a sample - thanks Joe!)

It started out as love, but as the day progressed it got increasingly more rubbery and honestly that texture of tuberose (sometimes I smell that in Fracas) gives me a slight headache, right in the temple area. Next time I'm going to try this on a hot day, as today it was cool and rainy all day and this seemed to intensify the scent on my skin. For now, I am proceeding with caution.

Thank you all for hugs and howls, the people here inspire me to be a better poster and I do not post anywhere else on the net this regularly.

Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel for the afternoon, another green violet scent that many of our gals here adore.
I'm exploring Ormonde Jayne Tolu today. Interesting take on a plush oriental but with spiky green herbal notes. The juniper is very apparent on my skin.

Top Notes: Juniper Berry, Orange Blossom, Clary Sage
Middle Notes: Orchid, Morrocan Rose, Muguet
Base Notes: Tolu, Tonka Bean, Golden Frankincense, Amber

Our heat wave has finally broken! Temps are only in the 80's instead of triple digits!

Edit: Well, it did actually get to 92 degrees today ... but still feels much better than it has at 100+.

Hey y'all -

I nearly overwhelmed myself playing with and comparing a bunch of fragrances this afternoon, so I showered and started over with a clean slate. I just love a clean slate and all the fragrant possibilities it presents, and boy did I choose well! I'm now in Tom Ford's Noir de Noir, straight-up ...a lot of it.

Have a great evening everyone!

Manguier Metisse by Huitieme Art.
Do you love Ava Luxe's Love's True Bluish Light ??? - well this is it ....with a hint of rotting fruit and woods. When I first sprayed, it smelled so very familiar to me.. NOT mango though. Still trying to love it.... we will see. Cool box and bottle though.
Congrats to Twolf on reaching her 7,000s! (And still so young looking -- what's your secret?? )

Today I am in a sample of Yes, Si, Oui by Reminiscence. Not bad -- sort of dried-fruity but then also incensey, too. Take care, all.
Mimi, I tested it one day last week and did not write "mango", remember? For me it is a close relative, shyer and not that experienced, to KenzoAmour -- soft rice pudding with lots of sugar, raisins and very dry vanilla, this last being the kind I do not stomach. (August 3rd SotD thread: "uncertain fruit which does not really smell of mango, and dry vanilla in a helping of rice pudding ")

Thank you Leesee for "young looking".
Twolf- congrats once again on 7000 great posts ! Hugs !
Yes, Twolfie, I remember you said there is no mango in Manguier Metisse. It's a darned shame really ! Thre really isn't much frangipani either. *sigh* A bit of a let down .
Wearing Maison Berdoues Muguet Precieux, thanks to a kind and generous BNer.
Beautiful lily of the valley, nice and soft, not screechy and overwhelming like some can be.
Just right for a quiet evening.
Éclat d’Arpège again this evening. I've been living in this one lately. I can't ask for anything nicer in this HOT summer we've been having. This one and AA Mentafollia have been my go-to's.

I got sick of Manguier Metisse already ......so I got out my mini bottle of Pleasures Bloom and sprayed a lot on. Now I feel better. I do actually prefer Pleasures Bloom to Manguier Metisse in all honesty. I like a certain amount of 'honesty' in a fragrance- if you say you're gonna have mango in a fragrance ...at least put some darned mango in it !

Anyhoo ....... Pleasures Bloom no mango but just a very pretty light floral. I have grown to love this as I wear it more. Well done Estee Lauder .

I got a little bored with the FM. I think the LoTV was starting to annoy me. Or maybe I'm just cranky today (it is Monday, after all)..

SOTAfternoon: L'Occitane Peony (roll-on)

Must be just my mood, b/c the L'O isn't right either. Bleah.
Posting late after running around for yet another day.

Howling Congratulations to our Twolf!!!

I've been wearing Chanel Cristalle Eau Verte for the past few days.

Shades, my husband is out by you for a few days. He's on a job site out there.

We're still a little stressed with closing on our home here in St Louis. We're buying from the owner without an agent, so we're getting a hands on "education".

Thankfully cooler here, band camp continues tomorrow. Wednesday is freshman orientation for the girl. Thursday is a Ra Ra Concert at 6:30 am for the teachers. Later that day all 250 kids head off to sleep away band camp until Sunday afternoon.

School begins for Sofie on the 16th. Whew! That went by very quickly.
