Am I the only person to smell Creed Himalaya and think...

... Chanel Platinum Egoiste? I got a sample of it with my delivery of Aventus today. They smell almost identical to me! Himalaya is available for under 50 quid (30ml size) from cheap smells, but while I have PE, i'm not sure if I see the point!

I can see the comparison. A fresh, good lot of Himalaya is better than PE, but that is one expensive roll of the dice on Himalaya. For every great bottle of Himalaya I've owned, three will be mediocre. PE is more consistent, that's for sure.

I guess I'm in the minority or have a bid sniffer, because I have both but to me they are different.

Very different to me! PE is just one of those scents I just do not understand. I'd buy Himalaya at designer prices 100%, but I think there's better alternatives out there for the price (Bleecker Street I find somewhat similar in vibe).

Not even close to identical, but some similar facets, definitely.

I have Himalaya and see no relation in smell to PE.

No similarity. The closest thing to Himalaya I've smelled would be Paco Rabanne XS.

Miles apart. I own both and I have to say that it has never occurred to me that there are any similarities. Himalaya is like high class soap and I don't know how to describe Platinum Egoiste.

There is a myrirad of scents blended under the same template: XS, Platinum Egöiste, Brooks Brothers, even new ones like Davidoff's Champion or cheap drusgtores scents like a local one called Alliance. I like thos, but I cannot state the pattern is original at all.

Of course, quality among them differs and that may be the reason for discrimination. But I don't buy the argument that they belong to different families.

Quite different from each other, IMO.

I think Paco Rabanne XS with a little bit of quality but no quality control

PE and Himalaya don't smell alike to me either.

I have both and in my humble opinion they ahave similar components but are very different after dry down. Cheers

They did go in different directions after dry down IMO too. I was just going off the initial sniff.
