I made a decision to buy decants rather than full bottles a couple of days ago, since then I've bought: Musc Ravaguer, Invasion Barbare, New Haarlem, PdN Carre D'As, Pure Malt, GIT and Aoud Lime. It probably takes me around 6 months to go through 10ml so why not?

Chanel and their Les Exclusifs was a big shopping disappointment: they were clueless about the extraits, even though Chanel's Italian site states that the LE extraits are available. They also didn't have any Sycomore, which was doubly disappointing since I was getting it as a gift for a good friend. As much as I enjoy my Chanels, their logistics/customer service SUCKS.

Jealous of the Jicky - that is next on my To Buy list!! I imagine you probably own 1 of every single bottle that No. 19 comes in, no tott? Whenever I think of No. 19, you come to my mind buddy.

Wow! You are all making some passionate purchases, I can feel the heat from here. Nice stuff Tiberije. Read a lot of positive comments here and elsewhere about the Mandarina Pure Black, Kappaz. Hope you like it, and would love to hear about it. Sweet pic Akahina; I am guessing that it might be a vintage example? Way to go all!!

No the L'Instant Extreme is brand new, purchased from Amazon last week.

Serge Lutens--Chypre Rouge.

I hated this with a passion a few years ago, but I've been rediscovering Daim Blond which I find to be a cousin to Chypre Rouge and I think I "get it" now. The last time I wore Chypre Rouge from a sample ( 2 years ago), I felt like I was coming around. It's a weird one for sure, but it's exotic in a way that's exotic even for a Lutens.

Jicky is a must – parfum is simply glorious. And well, yes, I do have a few different formulations and bottles of No 19.

Something I searched for long:

Trussardi L'Uomo (1995), there was only 30ml bottle available, but still happy.
Can't wait to arrive.

Al Rehab’s Aseel and Khaliji – I’m still trying to work out if I love them or hate them. Actually, that’s more often than not a good sign with me.

At $2.50 each (!) I’ve already had my money’s worth in entertainment value from them.

Thanks AZ. The Parure was from Vienna. I lucked out, totally.

Thanks I was in Greece, Serbia and Austria... and as luck would have it, I didnt have any dramas with customs. Interestingly, Australia is the only country (according to the Emirates in-flight information) that has ZERO restrictions on the quantity of perfume one can bring into the country!

Further to my post above, Ive just managed to free my vintage finds from their bubble wrap!

I've amassed a lot of GREAT vintage goodies at different flea markets, including a whopping 500ml partial quadrilobe flacon of Guerlain JASMIN, some Guerlain Muguet parfum, several Shalimar parfums, some Parure, and a very rare Julien Viard flacon for Isabey ca. 1926.
Cool! I like the BIG one - is it a straight up Jasmin EDC style or more nuanced? And the older Muguet is a nice find - nice one

Thanks. Well, as far as I know, only parfums were launched in the quadrilobe flacons, though Monsieur Guerlain may know better. It is tenacious and much stronger than my vintage Jasmin EDT (search my blog for my review). I expect its parfum. Would you believe I found it on a shelf at the back of a junk store in Athens and paid less for it than a cheap meal out? My heart was hammering all the way home, as this was not able to be carried in my hand luggage! I taped and bound the flacon so tight so that it wouldnt spill a drop in my check in baggage. (In fact of all my bottles, only one lost 1/3 of its contents in transit... that would be the flacon pictured with the green label at centre below the coral-coloured Isabey flacon).

The Muguet is still sealed in the "parapluie" flacon (front right of photo) in a rare "coffee bean" Guerlain box, dating it between 1950 and 1967... I havent seen anything like it before.

Had a tiring and busy day at work. Old women screaming in pain refusing to take their medications, utter chaos in the Emergency Dept, even more chaos in the Paediatrics Ward and worse of all a long queue at the cafe only to end up with no food left. lol.

Then I got home, changed, and heard the doorbell. Postman. Opened the parcels. And there they were, gleaming at me in their glass bottles and filling my olfactory nerves with joy (including that little Bvlgari Black blind buy).

Thank goodness for perfumes

King Kouros (50ml)

Adding them to my wardrobe when they arrive, I can't wait...
GREAT finds Dimi, as always! I was eager to see what you found in Europe - they are all amazing! Love the PdT bottles especially, and the big Shalimar. The Muguet extrait is very special - I didn't know it came as extrait back then. Really wow. As for the quadrilobe bottles, I think they were only made for extrait, but not sure about the big ones...

went to nordstrom to get some samples, and possibly a new bottle, but had the worst customer service ever. so i headed over to NeimanMarcus and had the best customer service ever. although i didn't purchase anything, they were kind enough to give me a bag full samples.

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
Chanel Allure Homme
Chanel Allure Sport
Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche
John Varvatos U.S.A
Hanae Mori PH EDT
and the SA made me a sample of Acqua di Parma Colonia which i absolutely fell in love. i definitely plan on purchasing a bottle asap.

also i went to a Bottega Veneta to shop for my fiance and found out that they have a perfume. smelled it and thought it was great, so i got a sample of their EDP as well.

(A good batch!!)

So funny how I took a complete 180 on Bleu. At first I was like, your everyday generic boring fragrance. Its still kind of generic and boring, but I really love it! Super excited to get it.

Hello, I find the longevity & projection very good for a Varvatos fragrance. It's not in the same class as the other Varvatos in these aspects. It's definitely a cool weather scent. A good purchase for the first day of fall if I do say so myself.

I purchased this at Sears if anyone in Canada is interested. I thought I better jump on it since it is LTD Edition.

This fragrance reminds me so much of L" Instant de Guerlain (which I respect very much) only more modern smelling. I agree it is a nod to retro frags. It walks a line between modern & vintage very well.
I get dry, cinnamon & cocoa. It dries down to a very nice leather and vanilla.

I came to the conclusion over time, that I prefer JV 10 after numerous testing (thanks Sephora . I found myself constantly being drawn over to it , so I guess it was just a matter of time before I pulled the trigger.

Its an under-rated gem.
It always suprised me it never really caught on here on the boards since there is so many Varvato's fans on here

I just got 4 Caron Fragrances that I "blind ordered" from FragranceNet week ago.

Le 3` Homme de Caron

Quite interesting floral and little powdery but still very masculine. If I sampled this one in department store probably I would have like it.

L`Anarchiste

I still don't know what to think about this one. There is a strong cinnamon note on the top of the wood and orange notes. It's like the scent that you would got if you peel orange pour some cinnamon and some herb seasoning on the top of it and bake it in the oven for a couple of minutes. That's Anarchist. It's pretty heavy and complex, at least for me. I don't think that I'll carry this one more than once a week.
If I sprayed this one in department store probably I wouldn't buy it as it would be to heavy for my taste.

Eaux de Caron Pure

So light and refreshing. Definitely unisex, my wife like this one very much so I think that we will share this one.
If I tried this one in department store I would have bought it.

Yatagan

And now something completely different.
This is the scent that probably Chick Norris, John Wayne or Clint Eastwood adore. When I sprayed Yatagan, my first thought was, Wauuuu this must be how Chuck Norris sweat smells
It is straightforward, bitter, woodsy and strong. It's a scent that requires strong character to wear.
Would have I bought this one if I sampled it first in department store, I am not sore. Maybe. Every man wants to smell like Chuck Norris sometimes. What a hell, spray some Yatagan and go out macho man
post #358 of 539
You go tiberije!! I am so envious. I love the Yatagan, and only wish I could try those others. I visited my local Caron source (Vasco Cigars on Saint Catherine st.) just yesterday looking for the 3ieme Homme, but sadly they are still out. While I was waiting for them to check, I spotted some Rochas Man, took one whiff, and fell in love with it. Managed to get a 100 ml bottle to console myself in the meantime.
Thanks for your insight Riley! I will give this a go at Sephora.
