Just an fyi, got the e-mail a few hours ago. With discount the 1.7oz bottle comes to around ~$100. Would jump on this myself but dunno if I'd get much mileage out of it as a 26 yr old to justify the price

As an 18 year old I can tell you it's awesome stuff. I use it year-round every once in awhile. It's certainly not a signature frag especially for guys, but definitely a good couple-times-a-month-fragrance

hmm, to be honest when I first got the e-mail I was very tempted to buy and sell/trade it if I didn't like it. Actually watching a few reviews on youtube is what convinced me not to get it as most of them said this is not a good scent for work or going out and considering I have a number of other fragrances in my collection that I can only use in a limited number of scenarios, I really didn't want to add another one to that list (definitely not for $100 for a 1.7oz bottle of all things)

I think it's one of the best scents for going out...

I love Chergui. All my fragrance friends love Chergui. Two of my fragrance buddies have been known to hint around, "Um, do you still have Chergui?" when they drop by, hoping I'll share a spray or two. I always do, because I love smelling it on other people, too. It's a good one.

Buy it soon as it's a Paris exclusive and stocks will run out sooner or later. Then youll be at luckyscent.com's mercy. They're charging $200 Bois de violette which was once $110.

OP, thanks for the heads up. I picked up a bottle - blind buy. This has been talked about so much around here, and the notes all sound like something I'd like.

@mrcologneguy: I'm envious you have friends into fragrances. I'm trying to turn my friends onto it, but they just don't care too much. I did inadvertently get my best friend to buy a Frederic Malle to replace his YSL L'Homme (he previously just wore RL Romance). I think that was certainly progress.

Don't believe everything you hear. Try it for yourself.

Did I miss some sort of announcement? Chergui is no longer a SL export?

fwiw, Chergui is my only perfume necessity. I probably wear it 250-300 days out of the year - seem to love it more and more with each day.

My understanding is that Chergui is a temporary global release.
There are two types of exports. Limited (temporary) and regular line. I thin chergui belongs to the temporary export like Tuberose Criminelle (this year's export).

Is there a source of information where we can learn more about this and Serge Lutens releases? I'm interested to learn which Lutens are temporary releases.

If what you say is true, I'm certainly glad I bought a bottle.

There are Paris exclusive perfumes.
Tuberose criminelle, la myrrh, bois oriental, el attarine etc etc

There are global permanent releases.
Ambre sultan, Gris Clair , chypre rouge , feminite de bois etc etc

There are Paris exclusives released globally for a temporary time on limited stock.
Borneo 1834, tuberose criminelle, Cuir Mauresque , musc kublai khan etc etc

There are Paris exclusives that have been converted to global permanent releases.

I am not sure but I think chergui is part of the temporary global release.

Thanks for that info, Hedonist. I wonder how many of those temporary exports make up their best sellers here in the U.S.

You would think Serge Lutens would change the status to "permanent" if Chergui or other temporary exports sell really well here (I have no idea which ones are actually the best sellers).
