Oscar de la Renta pour Lui similarities to One Man Show

Am wearing Oscar de la Renta pour Lui today. Strong and with a 10+ hour longevity. The drydown feels remarkably similar to One Man Show, so much so that throughout the day I've been getting the feel of wearing One Man Show (not that this is necessary a bad thing, in my opinion).

Am I the only one who gets the same overall impression from these two?

They are from the same era, of course, with Oscar de la Renta pour Lui having been launched in 1981 and One Man Show in 1980.

They're both different to me and I have both in my collection.

I've got an OPL bottle from the 80s and what I'd guess is a newer OMS. I wouldn't think to compare them, other than that they are both far from recent men's frags, because:

OPL has more lavender. Not sure if OMS has any.
OPL has no major animalic note. OMS has very strong castoreum.
OPL settles down into a nicely blended frag. OMS is crude all the way through.

However, they both may have pine and incense type notes, which is what you may be keying in on.

Don't know what these other guys are comparing.. but OMS and ODLRPL are *very* similar to me. My nose is pretty good, but if I was blindfolded and asked to smell each, I doubt I could tell which was which.

Update: Right now I have a spray of each frag, on the back of each hand. There is just very little difference, really.

its a blessing that Oscar Pour Lui smells nothing like OMS .

For those who are lucky to find it, the original OMS show is considerably smoother than the one you are likely to get if you buy one today.
