Le Labo City Exclusives: Any must try (at $10 per 1.5 mls)?

Thread Starter
I see Luckyscent (and I guess elsewhere) is offering samples of the Le Labo city exclusives at $10 per 1.5 mls so people can splurge on bottles in November (the month that isn't so exclusive; at least this year).

My question to you all: at that price, which of the following do you recommend as MUST TRY?

Aldehyde 44
Baie Rose 26
Gaiac 10
Musc 25
Poivre 23
Tubereuse 40
Vanille 44

I saw this today in a promotional email from Luckyscent.com and they will be part of my next purchase. I was sent scent strips from the New York Le Labo but I'm sure that the real thing might be a better way to evaluate the city exclusives.

Very interesting - I am glad Luckyscent has gotten the city exclusives. Musc 25 and Poivre 23 sound good to me ...hell, they all do ,actually.

I've tried this and didn't care for it at all: Aldehyde 44

This I have and love but some might find it too quiet: Gaiac 10

I'm thinking about sampling this: Poivre 23 I sprayed it on me once in the NY store and loved it. Then I ordered a large pricey decant from Perfumed Court and hated it because it seemed so different from what I tried at the store.

This is really nice: Tubereuse 40

I'm going to order this: Vanille 44 (This was another that I tried in the NY store and loved, then ordered from TPC and the really couldn't stand it. It got me wondering if their bottles were old or if they got fakes off ebay)

For me, this is an opportunity I've been waiting for - and a chance to put some closure on two that I had wildly opposing experiences with in the past.

Gaiac 10 would be interesting to try IMO.

Please try the Gaiac 10, Poivre 23 & the Vanille 44 - they are all fantastic, for completely different reasons.

The others were ok, but a bit forgettable.

I wish more companies would have offers like that. Im in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the cheapest option would be to order the samples directly from the Le Labo website, since there is no tax/shipping (at least not for me)... correct? Or has anyone somehow found a cheaper option (via promo code)?

I was anosmic to the Musc 25, so I couldn't smell a thing.

I wasnt anosmic but Vanille sure made me feel that way.
I could barely smell anything.

This is great news! I had read about these before and now they are available! I just ordered samples of:
Le Labo - Sample:Musc 25 (Los Angeles)\t
Le Labo - Sample:Poivre 23 (London)\t
Le Labo - Sample:Gaiac 10 (Tokyo)\t
Le Labo - Sample:Baie Rose 26 (Chicago)

I'm a fan of this house. I already have Patchouli 24 and Santal 33. Rose 31 and Labdanum 18 are on my wishlist. Can't wait to get these samples! Oh, and on the subject of Luckyscent, I just ordered 2 more ELdOs, and requested the the 4 Blood Concepts as some of my complimentary samples. Love Luckyscent. On the subject of Le Labo, I am taking a trip to San Francisco this month, and am pleased to learn that Barney's sells this house. For once I can purchase Le Labo and Malle without doing it mail order. Ok, I'm way too chatty. Now back to Dexter. Y'all have a great night.

I absolutely adore baie rose 26. Literally smells like sticking your nose in a perfect pink rose with dewdrops on its petals. Smells just gorgeous. The tubereuse is beautiful as well, can't say I would ever pay retail for it. Musc 25 just bored me, as did the gaiac 10. Have yet to try the others.

I have and LOVE both Gaiac 10 and Vanille 44.

I wish Le Labo was a little more consistent in their mixes

Me too, with the sample I ordered from TPC. But not when I tried it in the Le Labo store.

I got my samples today.

This time sampling the Vanille it surprisingly is smelling a lot like their Neroli at about the one hour mark. It's like neroli/some musk, a wee bit of vanille. The top notes were nice but it only lasted a few minutes - wish the top lasted longer into the base. Anyone else smelling the same thing that is in their Neroli.

I have the Poivre on the other arm and it interestingly is growing stronger and stronger as the time goes by. I have one other fragrance that does this (Ormonde - woman). I think I smell pepper, something kind of powdery - orris maybe or something a little sweet like angelica, and cinnamon?. I'm not good at breaking down the notes but thats what my amateur nose is getting. P.S. my cat really likes this, he's licking it off my arm.

Got them today. Musc and Baie Rose are must-haves for my wardrobe. The musc is feminine, but so unique. The Baie Rose reminds me of a more assertive Black Aoud. Incredible. The Poivre and Gaia were great, but not compelling me to purchase on this particular sampling.

I ran happily to the Le Labo website to order the samples just to be confronted with the fact that they cost 8 EUR each (should have read the title of the thread more carefully). I guess I'll spend those 56 EUR on a whish-list bottle instead of 7 samples.

The sad thing is that Le Labo is aware that a majority of people will rather spend thier funds elsewhere than pay 56 Euros for measly samples BUT they're ok with that lol.
