Bond bottle caps - usually loose?

I just got my first Bond No. 9 bottle in on Saturday (the wonderful Washington Square!) and am disappointed that the cap is VERY loose. Not only can you not pick it up by the cap, but it basically doesn't 'click in' at all. Is this common with the Bond bottles?

Other than that, I'm wholly impressed by the bottle and its design and image (the Washington Square sticker is really neat - it's quite shiny and vibrant).

Wow, looks like they copied more than just scents from Creed.

My Aventus cap would probably fall off if I turned the bottle upside down. My GIT cap isn't much tighter.

The cap to bottle engineer did not specify the dimension tolerence on the drawing, and Bond No. 9 did not hire a quality engineer to control the cap and botlle suppliers.

Just to confirm: yes the caps of my two Bonds (Riverside Drive and Silver Factory) are loose two. I'm not a fan of the star-shaped bottle anyway. To me, it looks a bit childish and blocky.

I should clarify that this cap is not only loose in that it can spin around, but it really does not 'click' at all, and if you were to try picking up the bottle by the cap, the cap would come off with essentially no resistance whatsoever.

I'm going to write Bond about this - hopefully they can make it right. It's a shame to have any disappointment with such a high dollar purchase. The scent is beautiful, and it deserves a perfect bottle!

Creeds are worst, at least my bottles.

Tom Ford Private Blends cant be picked by the cap too, but the cap dosnt fall if you turn the bottle updside down, like Creeds and Bonds

That's not normal. At least mine do "click" and wouldn't fall of when turned upside down.

Thanks for confirming! I didn't think it was normal. The plastic ridges on the inside of the cap that are supposed to click into the groove on the metal collar are almost non-existent.

Here the same with:

- Original Vetiver
- Virgin Water Island
- Bois Du Portugal

The only one that is tighter is Royal English Leather, I don't have this issue with Amouage though;-)

Loose caps are a common occurrence with certain companies unfortunately.

I've got a lot of Bonds and a few have loose caps, but all "snap" to a degree. If you are unsatisfied, their customer service is fantastic and will switch it out without a question. Maybe just ask them to send a new cap.

The only 2 Bond bottles I've owned (H.O.T. Always & Gramercy Park) both had loose caps that came off too easily.

I have 4 Bonds - New Harleem, Silver Factory, Riverside Drive and Eau de New York and cap is not loose on neither one.

I have 4 Bonds and all the caps are loose and come off too easily. Some still click but you can't pick the bottle up anymore like you could when first bought. It's a poor design and they just become loose over time. I imagine getting a new cap will only fix the problem temporarily. They need to ditch the bottle design and invest in "chanel type" magnetic tops.

Only one Bond no. 9 bottle I have had in my possession (a 50 ml Coney Island) and I thought the cap was a bit hard to take off: too tight, if anything.

I have new York Oud and the cap spins around and is somewhat loose, but it does click and I can lift the bottle by the cap, although I would not trust it. I always pick up bottles by, well, the bottle.

I've completed splits with a few Bond No. 9 perfumes and - yes - some of the caps arrived loose.

All of Creed's especially MI and OS are very very snug, Green Valley is the one where the cap can slide off at a slight tilt.

My Bond caps are all fairly loose but all click shut. (I have 5 different Bond No. 9 bottles)

The ones with the loose caps are worth more.

My cap on my Bond is loose as well. It appears this is the norm.
