Summer Fragrance

Most of you guys should have had a fairly good run with getting to know your favourite and complemented summer fragrances with the season coming to a close.

Down here in New Zealand we are just about to get started!

I'm looking for one or two everyday/evening summer fragrances.

The majority of the stores here don't really carry much more than the most common fragrances, or if they do, they are ridiculously priced. So most of the good stuff would have to be online blind purchases, unless samples could be found somewhere.

My upper price limit would be in the Aventus ballpark.

From what I have read these are commonly recommended:

-AVENTUS BY CREED
-GREEN IRISH TWEED BY CREED
-DIOR HOMME INTENSE BY CHRISTIAN DIOR
-LIVE JAZZ BY YVES SAINT LAURENT

-Any others that I should look into?

I'm liking the sound of the Aventus and GIT but unless I can find a sample it will be difficult to blind buy without knowing that they are truly great fragrances and have a high chance of me liking them.

From my winter season I currently have:

-BURBERRY LONDON BY BURBERRY
-LE MÂLE BY JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

Thanks for the help!

GIT and Aventus price ballparks are pretty high, so if you decide to go that route, you should also smell samples of many other niche perfumes before committing (to start with, various vetivers like Sycomore, Vetiver Extraordinaire, etc etc).

In mainstream, I would also recommend you smell more things in citrusy-fresh directions, like Dior homme sport, Concentree d'orange vertes, Mugler cologne, as well as stuff marketed to women like Kenzo Flower or Anais Anais.

For summer wear, I fully second Mugler Cologne

I agree with those, as well as Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler ... perhaps, Cool Water by Davidoff could inexpensively substitute for the Green Irish Tweed, and you could get some Rose 31 by Le Labo ...

I agree with the Hermes Concentre d'Orange Verte recommendation on the lower cost side of the equation. Mid priced would be Acqua di Parma Colonia or Terre D'Hermes, and upper end Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver by Mona di Orio.

L'eau Par by Kenzo

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'll try and find as many of these in store to test.

-Aventus By Creed
-Green Irish Tweed By Creed
-Dior Homme Intense By Christian Dior
-Live Jazz By Yves Saint Laurent
-Vétiver Extraordinaire By Editions De Parfums Frederic Malle
-Dior Homme Sport By Christian Dior
-Concentré D'orange Verte By Hermès
-Mugler Cologne By Thierry Mugler
-Monsieur Balmain By Pierre Balmain
-Cool Water By Davidoff
-Rose 31 By Le Labo
-Terre D'hermès By Hermès
-Acqua Di Parma Colonia By Acqua Di Parma
-Les Nombres D'or - Vétyver By Mona Di Orio
-L'eau Par Kenzo Pour Homme By Kenzo

So from what I have read of the breakdowns and reviews of these, is that they are all either Citrus, Floral, or Green. Are these the types to go for during summer? Are there any decent Aquatics?

Also could someone help me out in putting the similar ones together, it's tough to figure out what the dominate chords are in these.

Not many decent aquatics to my taste. The few I know of are on your list already with a couple exceptions that come to mind... Super inexpensive would be Bellagio for Men (similar to L'eau d'Issey, but 1/4 the price and much better, IMO) and then there is always Creed's Millesime Imperial on the other end of the price spectrum.

I would recommend wearing whatever you like to wear, and not to worry about "seasonal rules".

Hello fellow Kiwi who understands the pain of not having fragrances readily available to at the very least test before ordering! and the equally huge pain of what little we have here being exorbitantly overpriced! and the fact that we can't just return stuff the way they can in america (if you drop $250 bucks here on a serge, you better love it!)

Just wanted to quickly recommend if you aren't already aware (although you seem pretty savvy) - Mecca Cosmetica in Aux, Welly or Chch

http://www.meccacosmetica.co.nz/StoreLocator/

Diptyque, Serge, Byredo, CDG and more. You won't find Diptyque online + shipping for less than it retails for in Mecca so if you were interested in one, you could get it from there and be able to test it too. As for Serge - order online as it's cheaper but go to Mecca to test so you don't have to blind buy. Haven't tried looking for the other brands online but at least you know where you can find them instore. And they tend to be really cool about free samples.

They also do Juliette Has a Gun, The Different Company, Tokyo Milk, Robert Piguet and possibly more in some of the bigger World stores.

Enjoy your summer scent journey!

Oh right - and for the rarer ones you can also order samples from theperfumedcourt.com , I haven't tried them but I plan to in the future once I come up with a cohesive list I want to venture into. They do these packages e.g. intro to aromatic fougere or what have you.... great way to sample and they seem reliable.

My favourite summer scent out of all the bottles I own is Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche, then probably Love & Luck (MI rip off)
