Firstly, thanks to everyone for your support for my Berlin event, which sadly failed due to lack of interest.
With reflection, I think Berlin was the wrong place for such an event. Berlin is very cutting edge/agressive - and discontinued fragrances are steeped in nostalgia and romantic. With that in mind I am trying to organise the event here in the south of France, (which is all about romantic) for next Summer.
I have approached the Town Hall here in Roquebrune-sur-Argens and they are very interested in the idea as an ongoing annual event. Roquebrune-sur-Argens, (please google/googlemap/earth) to see just how beautiful a location it is here !!! It is only 15 mins drive from Grasse, Cannes and the gorgeous Cote d´Azur beaches - and only 30 mins drive from St. Tropez and Nice Airport.
I am trying to get Osmothèque to take part. They have hundreds of original formula/rare fragrances in small flacons which can be sampled on test strips. I am aiming to make it a weekend event, to include talks, swapping, buying and selling of discontinued and limited edition fragrances.
I will be suggesting several weekend dates in June or September next year, for the event - and conducting a poll in January for basenoters to choose the prefered weekend. July and August are totally impractical for such an event because it gets unbearably crowded and the roads here become too congested.
I hope to see/get to know many basenotes members here next year.....and this time THE EVENT will take place !
