Never Say Never - First Bad Bottle of Creed - Silver Mountain Water

As some of you already know recently I bought 2 bottles of Creed - Royal Water from AAA Merchants (Ebay) and SMW from FragranceNet (Ebay Account).

Considering that these 2 were my 8th and 9th Creed purchases I can say that I was prettty lucky with quality of Creeds I bought, because all of them were good and they were acquired from different sources (Neiman, Amazon, FragranceNet, Basenotes Marketplace).
Each of the Creeds I have is giving me at least 6 hours of longevity and some even 10+.

That's about to change.

Royal Water lived up to expectations and although batch Number on the bottle is scratched, juice is good and it's giving me 6-8 hours, but...

As I said never say never, because SMW is totally different story. It was one of those bottles for Arabic market with batch number printed on the back of the bottle.
I don't know if it's bottle too old or it was kept in some bad and humid conditions. But juice was spoiled and it gave me only 1-1.5 hour after 4 sprays. Unbelievable.

Off course I contacted FragranceNet immediately and they send me return shipping label which I gladly used and send them SMW back and I am now happily waiting for my refund.

Anyway I still like SMW, but after this bad experience, next bottle I am gonna get will be from Neiman. Cheers.

Sorry to hear. I bought my SMW from Fragrancenet and I'm satisfied. I get about 6 hours with 4 sprays (2 sprays on skin, 2 sprays on clothing). However, there are times when I feel like I only get 4 hours.

I'm wondering if I'd get better longevity if I were to buy from Neiman Marcus or CreedBoutique.com. Has anyone done a comparison? From what I've been reading, SMW is not really known for its longevity.

I know. I got 3 Creeds and 1 Bond from FragranceNet and they are all good, but this one was simply and plainly bad.
Sorry to hear you got a bad bottle as SMW is one of the longest lasting Creed fragrances. It's probably down to bad storage in some warehouse with extreme temperatures.

I got that three dollar copy from al rehab, and I had no trouble.

Check here.

I didn't say anything about SMW there.

I alway try to be cautious and only shop with retailers I trust. You might have a bad experience once in a while from even a trusted source. If they take back the bottle and issue a refund or replacement, that's all you can really ask. Sorry about your bad experience with FragranceNet tiberije.

Once you get your bottle of SMW from Neiman Marcus, can you report back the average longevity you experience? I'm very curious to see if it's any different to the longevity I get with my bottle from Fragrancenet.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate surprise with SMW but things like this do happen.

I have a sample of SMW and I think it smells fantastic. It only lasts about 2-3 hours on my skin though, so it's on par with Millesime Imperial. Still gonna buy a full bottle though and carry a decant with me

+1

That's the typical story with SMW's longevity. For those that get great longevity, I'm curious where they got their bottle. I feel lucky getting 4-6 hours with mine.

I got sample from Neiman and I got 8+ hours on that one. So I am pretty sure when I buy new bottle on Monday from Neiman, longevity should be good at least if not great.
My Aventus from Neiman last 8-10 hours.

I read the beginning of this thread title and thought this was going to be about a new Justin Bieber fragrance.

SMW is the longest lasting Creed I've tried, though I don't much care for it. Among the Creeds I've owned, longevity (from most to least) has been SMW, Bois du Portugal, GIT, Millesime Imperial, and Bois de Cedrat way in back.

I didn't say anything about SMW there.

I never said anything about your Royal Water, actually, other than informing you on the change in bottle design and why the # was scratched off.

I was simply advising you to pay a little more and get your Creeds from an authorized retailer, preferably the Boutique online or in NYC. That way you won't have to worry about whether your bottles are fake or gone bad.

And sure enough, a week later, you get a bad bottle of SMW by NOT following my advice.

Now apparently you are going to NM.

why are you so hostile, dude, i'm just trying to help...

Here it is.
Wen to Neiman bought bottle of Silver Mountain Water drove 40 minutes to get back home. Tried to spray it but cap was bad and juice started to leak
Drove back to Neiman got another bottle (last one).

Sprayed SMW 6 hours ago and I can still smell it. Now I am taking a shower, I will try tomorrow again to see if I am getting 8+

Sorry to hear about that.

Yet I find it weird that people only question your retailer and not Creed itself (not that I have anything positive to say about said retailer, which I never tried yet).

Unfortunately, as nice a house Creed might be, there is a huge, and I mean huge, variance among batch numbers of the very same fragrance.

Although SMW is kind of known to have longevity issues (and it was my case for the various samples I tried), it can be even truer in some batch numbers. I think you might want to blame the House itself before the retailer, although as I said I don t know the retailer yet. Just saying that Creed does bear this annoying issue of one batch being so different from the other.

Thanks for reporting back. Sorry about the second incident. Sucks to have two bad experiences in a row with such a great scent.

If the average longevity of SMW is 8-10 hours when buying from an authorized retailer (such as Neiman Marcus), then it may be worth the price. But the fact that you experienced a faulty bottle even from them, makes me think that, with Creeds, it's hit-or-miss no matter where you buy it.

I guess the moral of the story with Creeds is, if at first you don't succeed, try try again. I think I'm one of the lucky ones with my Creed experience. I have two bottles, SMW and Himalaya, both from Fragrancenet. My SMW lasts 4-6 hours and my Himalaya lasts 8-10 hours (sometimes even longer).

The only advantage of buying it retail is you have a chance to smell it, but you pay a premium price to do that. I've bought quite a few bottles of Creed from online retailers such as ScentedMonkey and D'dara and the juice was usually around a year old or a little bit more and smelled great. When you can save $150 a bottle by buying online (with a return policy) it's a no brainer. The only reason to buy Creed retail is unless you've never sampled it, the price gap difference isn't that large, or you get suckered into listening to "experts" that think they know what they're talking about. As long as you can return the product if one is not up to your satisfaction just keep on returning it until you get a bottle you like. It might take a little longer, but saving that much off a bottle is well worth it.

Sorry to hear that. I have a bottle of SMW that I bought probably 6 or more years ago. This was back when you could get a 4 ounce bottle on scentiments for $75-80 It still smells great. I do think it may have changed slightly. It seems a bit stronger now for some reason.
