Arsene Lupin by Guerlain - MdM revisited?

I tried Arsene Lupin today at Harrods.

I loved the opening, full and rich, but said straight-away that it was very redolent of Mouchoir de Monsieur.

The drydown is staggeringly close to MdM. Very - and I do mean very - slightly warmer, but other than that it's MdM in a wooden clad bottle being sold for £140.00.

I'll stick with MdM I think.

MdM is a winner in my book too. Great smell and quality scent.

Did you try Dandy or Voyou ?

I love all three, Dandy, Voyou and MDM and don't really think either are similar to one another, personally.

I am not familiar with MdM. I thought it had a good amount of civet. I don't smell any civet on Dandy or Voyou.

You are correct. MDM has much more in common with Jicky IMO that with Arsene Lupin or Voyou.

Not seeing the MdM connection but will look again - always fun to explore.

I do pick up the family resemblance every now and then with subtle whiffs of the L'Ame d'un Héros / Chamade Pour Homme side of things.

I agree. The MdM is like Jicky with more civet.

The Dandy (formerly, that is) is a spice leather/violet. I can't recall Voyou, but it was a warm oriental, if memory serves.

I love Arsene Lupin (Dandy) but find MdM a difficult wear. Violets, cardamon and leather vs. a lavender bomb with civet.

I don't see any connection. Both dandified yes, bot one a soft fougère, the other a spicy leather.
