Cuir Mandarine and Cuir Tabac by David Jourquin has anyone tried these wonderful sounding fragrances?

Cuir Mandarine Day version

Patchouli forever and always .. vibrating to the contact of black pepper, mandarin and leather, sensual from blond Virginian tobacco, light like a champaign bubble heady from a fine lavender bouquet.

Mixed with fine lavender as chorus note.
Leather, mandarin, black pepper and blond Virginian tobacco as chorus
note. Five patchoulis from five Indian regions as background music.

Dunno about Cuir Tabac, but Cuir Mandarine is just another patchouli scent, at least on my skin.
Starts nice with some tart citrus, tobacco, leather and patchouli but develops into sweet patchouli and little else in about an hour.
Given the price, for ardent patchouli collectors only.

Doesn't sound too promising.

Double post.

Not big on the sound of more patchouli scents: that's one crowded field! Cuir Tabac sounds like something potentially good, though ( paging Aromi or Shamu if they've sampled this - sounds up their alley ).

I have a sample of Cuir Tabac and while it is a pretty good patchouli fragrance, I am a bit disappointed because the patchouli is a bit too dominant while tobacco and leather are playing minor roles, if any (looking at you, leather). However, there is some classic greatness burried underneath, especially after the intial first few minutes. Also, this seems to be one of those fragrances, where the scent trail is far more intriguing then when you smell it up close.

It is a classy, masculine and kind of fresh patchouli-frag, that should've been named differently. I do get a bit of (fresh virginian) tobacco, musk and lavender but I can't find the leather. I think there's also a tiny bit of rose, vanilla and pepper in there. Not sure if I really need a bottle of this but it may turn out to be grower and a pretty good choice for a masculine patchouli - just be aware that the name is not very appropriate. Sample-worthy for sure.

Thanks for reporting back Nasenmann.

The „official description“ of Cuir Tabac sounds really enticingly, for sure. It “forced” me, a month ago, to order a sample of this scent. For some reason, I expected something like Oud Cuir d’Arabie without the oud note.
However, after I tried it… well, no, I can not say that I was disappointed; it’s a high-quality fragrance, no doubt about that, but… somehow not inspiring enough (to me, of course). The fact that I have a sample for a month now and that I have tasted it only twice says enough per se, I think (and, besides, I don’t even feel the need to taste it again).
Nasenmann described scent very well, so there is no need to repeat what he’s already said. One can smell the notes of leather, tobacco, patchouli and musk… and yes, maybe patchouli plays more important role than it should.
It’s not a bad scent by any means, but it didn’t provoke a wow factor in my case.
I haven’t tried Cuir Mandarine.
